As if Johnson didn't know! He's a liar.

To remind ourselves...

'All guidance was followed'
'No rules were broken'
'We did the right thing'
'All the guidelines were observed'
'People within this building have stayed within the rules'
'I certainly broke no rules'
That's just some of his statements

All these statements are on record. He's disgusting.

And here's some of the cabinet and Guido Fawkes ignoring questioning on this.

Well... they would, wouldn't they?

But Starmer had a beer don't forget. I do hope that those moderate Tories who couldn't vote for Corbyn have a modicum of decency at the next election and say 'No, these are not our standards'.

None would vote Tory in the upcoming by-election, and all bar one said they will vote for the Lib Dems. (1/12)

Johnson's non answer

Sam Coates - Keir Starmer said he will resign if he's found guilty of breaking the law.... is that evidence of honour?

Boris Johnson - I've nothing to say

A few more things Johnson does not want to talk about

Lebedev
BREAKING: Boris Johnson blocks publication of security service advice he received on Evgeny Lebedev

MPs voted to compel release of all documents surrounding his peerage.

However, docs released today do not contain any such advice.

Total whitewash.

Notonthestairs · 12/05/2022 17:33

Apparently the Government don't think it's in the public interest to publish the Lebedev information - despite Parliament instruction them to do so.

Yeah right. Nothing to do with public interest, all to do with self interest.

Notonthestairs · 12/05/2022 17:46

According to the Times Johnson showed particular interest in making sure the Evening Standard received money from Covid 19 advertising budget during the pandemic.

Although it looks like Gove had oversight of most of that money.

All very cosy.

Neil Parish secured more than 3 times the vote of the next nearest candidate in 2019. For the Lib Dems to win there needs to be an even bigger change than North Shropshire.

Surely they can't do it twice can they?

So we now have a Prime Minister who has nothing to say, and doesn't appear the least bit interested in doing any work.

What is the point of him being Prime Minister?

Peregrina · 12/05/2022 19:10

I think it's unlikely and now the Tories will be a bit less complacent than they were in the past.

I think they can do it twice. And I very much hope they do. They did very well in Somerset in the local elections.

Peregrina · 12/05/2022 19:20

I was also looking at past results, and in 2010 the Lib Dems were a good second, very much within catching distance. Before someone reminds me that Labour didn't win Brokenshire's seat last year, remember he was a well regarded MP who had died prematurely. Not one who had to resign under a cloud. The public don't like being treated as though they are fools.

L1ttledrummergirl · 12/05/2022 23:43

I am sick of hearing from the government and cabinet, if I hear one more time about focusing on the peoples priorities I think I'm going to scream.

We have a government who wouldn't know truth and honour if it walked up and slapped them in the face, who are so out of touch they may as well have their heads buried firmly in the sand.
They bleat on about there being no magic money tree to ensure that the poorest in our society have enough to live on, probably because they gave all the money away to their mates (and I suspect family members) using the pandemic as an excuse to steal from spend wisely from the public purse.

The government has the cheek to say that the reason people can't afford food is because they don't know how to cook, yet they have a chancellor of the exchequer who doesn't know how to pay for petrol.

More fines today and they continue to act as if its normal to be responsible for employees who have been found to break the law on an industrial scale. Newsflash, it's not and they should be acknowledging this and taking responsibility by accepting that they are clearly piss poor at managing people, money, government and resigning. The home secretary had nothing to say about the rampant law breaking when asked today. She obviously feels it's OK to break the law with impunity.

The next PM will be able to continue to support Ukraine as that is something that the people of Britain seem to support at the moment, this is the only good thing that seems to be happening within government at the moment.

Roussette · 13/05/2022 06:39

@L1ttledrummergirl
So agree with your post. I'll add to your 'focussing on the people's priorities'... with
Levelling up
Getting on with the job

Neither of those pathetic soundbites mean a jot. Regions have had millions cut by leaving the EU. Look at Cornwall. They used to receive £100M from the EU as it was recognised as one of the poorest areas in Europe. That's been replaced with £3M from the government since.

And now they have brought out a 'levelling up bill' and have this tinpot idea of neighbours vetoing other neighbours extensions. You don't have to be Einstein to work out how this is going to go. I'll give it a year before it's scrapped.

The Government are desperate, they have no ideas and the soundbites and bluster that BJ is famous for is working its way down through all departments. That's what you get when you sack decent MPs and over promote others who haven't a clue what they're doing.

Anyone else raise an eyebrow at stories yesterday that financial help to be offered before summer recess? My immediate thought was a) the crisis was predictable why aren't they ahead of this ? And b) they'll time the financial help to distract from Sue Grey publication.

Many of which are only there because of Brexit…

Roussette · 13/05/2022 07:27

Well well well... I wonder how this will play out in Tiverton and Honiton by election.

Neil Parish (porn) is considering running against the conservative pick, as an independent.

Cutting the Civil Service doing those jobs just means that they can be 'outsourced' to private companies. It won't actually save any money at all.

the80sweregreat · 13/05/2022 08:34

'Outsource ' the civil service to people who are hand in glove with the Rees mogg types, no doubt.
There must be something like this behind it I'm sure.
He was on lbc just now not really answering how this will solve the backlog of work either.
