That clip was of Michael Gove being interviewed was weird.
The voice changes were particularly strange.
He isn't normally like that.

Roussette · 11/05/2022 10:33

Watch it without the sound. Why is head bobbing around so much?

@jgw1

The same reason he's off his trolley in this clip of him in the HoC.

They really ought to drug test in Parliament.

See... I think he is? He often talks at high speed and is very hyper but this time was worse.
After affects of last nights organised party. (That isn't a joke, there really was one. )

I would have thought that Tory MPs would be used to parties, don't they attend several each night?

Or it THE Gove not normally invited?

Roussette · 11/05/2022 11:22

What gets me .... what really gets me is...

If a Labour minister did all the breakfast news rounds, in that state, doing silly voices like that, copying accents, taking the piss... he or she would have the press reporting this for a week, it would never ever get forgotten, it would be brought up endlessly.

Yet this Minister can do these interviews in an obviously inebriated or drugged state and it's forgotten. Because it's a Tory.

Labour are held up to a far far higher standard.

Yes, imagine what the headlines would have been if Labour had held a garden party last night.

Peregrina · 11/05/2022 11:42

The consider them to be 'work'.

Essential work, far more important that representing or interacting with their constituents.

DuncinToffee · 11/05/2022 12:06

But according to another thread, nobody works late and a beer means party, it's all very confusing.

Beer means party. Wine means work.
You see it is like this. Other people drink beer, but superior people can afford and have the superior palate to drink wine.

Can you imagine if that were Diane Abbott?

Johnson has joined TikTok. I don't think he'll be there long (he actually has my sympathy here but surely the response must have been predictable)

I think Labour are held to a higher standard because they hold themselves to one too.

Which is why I can't work out why they are so unelectable.

Steve Read was brilliant on GMB this morning

DuncinToffee · 11/05/2022 17:11

Dominic Cummings has been tweeting with Adam Wagner

twitter.com/Dominic2306/status/1523313185209856000?t=q9ylSZp3SH00OgJ3lAlXew&s=19

I was going to c&p some of his tweets but they don't really make sense by themselves. It's not about more parties or fines but about exemptions for grousre shooting and payments to newspapers.

^^ a bit more information about the bungs to press -£35 million for first 3 months but it's been running for 22 months.

The other side of this is threatening the BBC and forcing the licence fee to remain the same. And going after Ch4.
I don't t know why I'm shocked really.

DuncinToffee · 11/05/2022 17:26

Just read the bylines article ShockAngry

Notonthestairs · 11/05/2022 17:28

Yes - no wonder the print media are (by and large) cosy with the Conservatives.

Peregrina · 11/05/2022 20:35

The byline times is/are always worth reading.

DuncinToffee · 12/05/2022 08:46

Adam Bienkov
NEW: Downing Street do not deny Boris Johnson held private meetings with newspaper editors to negotiate "direct bungs", as claimed by Dominic Cummings, but they insist no outlet received "preferred treatment"

I am sure they will have no problems backing up these claims then

Luculentus · 12/05/2022 10:39

I'm struggling to understand how they contend that accepting bungs is OK provided no-one gets preferential treatment.

DuncinToffee · 12/05/2022 12:46

No wonder the dog whistlers are out in force

Met Police announce they have now made over 100 referrals for fixed penalty notices over partygate.

Met Police say "the investigation remains live" - i.e. there may well be plenty more fines to follow.

No 10 suggesting - for now - that the PM has not received a further fine in addition to the one relating to his birthday gathering.

(he wasn't at the xmas party, just kept repeating in parliament that he had been assured no laws were broken)

I think anyone with some degree of decency struggles with that.

Jason118 · 12/05/2022 13:04

We need NASA on this. Have they pictures of the general area from space. I mean the size of the trough........

Roussette · 12/05/2022 14:05

Dear oh dear oh dear....

The Metropolitan Police announced on Thursday that more than 100 referrals for fixed penalty notices have been made for a series of lockdown breaches in Downing Street and Whitehall. The new fines come in addition to more than 50 handed out in April, when Prime Minister Boris Johnson and Chancellor Rishi Sunak were fined. The identities of those fined this time are currently unknown, per the BBC. According to The Guardian, Downing Street has said that the prime minister has still received only one fine, for a birthday party in June 2020

So we're up to 150 fines now then.
What a shitshow.
How can the Tory supporters square this? God alone knows. It's appalling. It must've been like Party Central day and evening right through.
