Did have his fingers crossed behind his back?

I've been at work so missed it all.

Was that stuff all about taxes etc from the queen? In her speech? So she believe the bollocks Boris spouts?

The government writes the speech for her. To be fair, she's probably had an awful lot of practice over the years at reading out absolute bollocks with a straight face.

cakeorwine · 11/05/2022 07:30

I am just wondering what's happening with the fines the Met police were handing out? I know that they didn't release details during the local election season. Did they fine people though and have just forgotten to tell us?

I wouldn't be surprised if she went 'off track' and say "My Government will make things better for poorer people. Well, Ted Heath said that back in the 70s and that failed so good luck, I wouldn't believe it'

Then 'drops the mic' and walks out

There's a war on Keir's beer don't you know.

More fines have been issued but there's been little on it. I presume they went to non cabinet members. However, Johnson's Principal Private Secretary has resigned and left... he was the one with the tinsel round his neck and the bottle of booze on his desk.

Ah, he's the IT assistant, right.

Notonthestairs · 11/05/2022 08:04

I watched snippets of the debate yesterday - Teresa May expressed concerns about Government plans for Northern Ireland and Johnson all but rolled his eyes. Hmm

What is Theresa May thinking. Does she not know that the government's policy is to ensure that a united Ireland comes about as soon as possible?

DuncinToffee · 11/05/2022 08:40

Your man Gove Wink was sent out this morning

Michael Gove tells @SkyNews that there "won't be an emergency budget" - Boris Johnson's words were "over interpreted"

and

#KayBurley: You said that after brexit we would cut VAT on fuel bills

Michael Gove: I said we could... cutting VAT would help the Duke of Devonshire

Notonthestairs · 11/05/2022 08:44

"Michael Gove: I said we could... cutting VAT would help the Duke of Devonshire"

Ah so the core problem is that they are searching for policies that don't benefit the titled and non titled alike.

Easiest way to deal with that is to get rid of titles.

Peregrina · 11/05/2022 09:07

However, Johnson's Principal Private Secretary has resigned and left...

Are you telling us that they can still find the odd Tory who has a shred of honour? There can't be many left.

PPSs are civil servants. So, sadly, no.

Peregrina · 11/05/2022 09:22

Ah, I thought they might be but then I thought that there are politicians who have a similar role - one of the junior roles when they start to climb the greasy pole of sucking up to the PM rather than representing their constituents.

jgw1 is this your work? (Sorry can't find the Gove thread)

Future PM right there.

I've just watched it with the sound off, that was amusing enough.

Roussette · 11/05/2022 09:41

Seriously, he must be on something.

Although there was a Tory party last night... BJ doing a thank you and trying to schmooze people so they don't get rid of him.

He is treating the cost of living crisis like a huge joke. Even within that 20 second clip he did 4 silly voices. Do we deserve politicians like this?? No wonder they don't wheel him out very often.

At best he's had little sleep after partying. At worst... well... let's not go there.. wired for sound is all I'll say.

This is the full clip
twitter.com/Haggis_UK/status/1524282626617524225?t=VifF7gqsMO3JiDu_-dZp1g&s=19

"no big deal"

Roussette · 11/05/2022 10:09

I honestly think he's still pissed from the party held last night. He has to be. He's very red in the face and rabbiting on with stupid voices.

Watch it without the sound. Why is head bobbing around so much?

BringBackCoffeeCreams · 11/05/2022 10:23

Bloody hell, I thought that clip of Gove had been fiddled with to make it funny. But it's the genuine article, he actually spoke like that. Is he on glue?

DuncinToffee · 11/05/2022 10:25

Powdered glue

DuncinToffee · 11/05/2022 10:29

Tesco chairman saying "I think we are seeing real food poverty for the first time in a generation"

Dartford mayor celebrating the grand opening of a foodbank

No emergency budget or any form of help for the rising costs of living

But Keir had a beer

I despair
