What is the unlikeliest career that someone you went to school with ended up doing?

Shamelessly stolen from Reddit. Did anyone you went to school with end up with a surprising career.

Girl I did my a levels with was a county athletics champion and one of the smartest kids in school. She went on to be a singer in a mediocre girl band.

Really lovely girl in my a level class ended up in a v avant garde dance troupe who performed with David Bowie (amongst many other things), then formed and led her own troupe before ending up as a something very important in dance on Broadway. It’s a long way from Sixth Form!

Ran away and joined the French Foreign Legion- we were not long left school. His dad had to go and get him back, just in time apparently. He would have bern there for 5 years otherwise. Has driven a taxi and been in prison for burglary since.

Somebody I went to school with is now in the Auckland Philharmonic Orchestra! I find that pretty cool!

My husband went to school with someone who is an amazing organist at a big church up north!

Me. I was the genius who was going to be something cerebral. I still haven’t decided what I want to be when I grow up - drifted a lot and now work in maternity for the NHS.

A nun. I went to school with her and she’s also my dsis.

My dd had an art teacher who was very bitter about the programme Art Attack.
He alleged that himself and Neil Buchanan thought the programme up together and got an interview to present the idea. Neil Buchanan told him he couldn’t go and to present the idea on their behalf and meanwhile it had all been stitched up behind the teachers back and teacher had been cut out completely and learned of this on arrival for said appointment.
Obviously this is one persons take on the whole scenario. May or may not be true.

My friend, he is the smartest person I ever met and he had his heart and soul set on being Prime Minister, big on politics and even president of uni council, could easily have gotten there. Went to Camp America and came back a self professed hippy, now he works with kids and is chill as fuck 😂

One of my schoolfriends works for a company that trains animals and birds (including owls...!) for the film and tv industry.

I wonder if this is the same company that my friend adopted her cat from because it wasn't showbiz enough for the movies!

My first uni bf was incredibly controlling, and enjoyed making me feel uncomfortable the entire 3 years. I heard he had applied for the police force, and for years had sporadic nightmares about him pulling me over for speeding, and attacking me.

He is now a District Commander. Not sure what that means, but suffice to say, he did just fine in the police.

Interesting someone I went to uni with ended up in the Met. Abusive bully. He was horrible to me made my life a nightmare. why do these horrible men end up as police officers?

became a minor Hollywood actor. Showed no interest in the theatre at school, though we had a good drama department. Was quiet and not noticeably handsome.

The unlikeliest is the head girl who was extremely clever, went to Oxford, could have had any career of her choice then married a born again Christian and became a minister’s wife/baby maker. It seemed like a waste to me but she seems very happy.

So many people seem surprised that the quiet kids at school can go on to have successful lives and careers 🤨 This thread mainly just reminds me how judgemental everyone is at school.

I need to read all of these pages because I suspect I might be someone people in my school would write about as I have done something completely different to what they would have expected.

But the most surprising one was a girl who was sleeping around from the age of 12, taking drugs, getting drunk and all the rest and has since become a Religious Studies teacher. I'd never have expected that one.

There are two sporty people who were absolutely amazing at school but have been affected by life-changing illnesses and have very limited mobility now. That really saddens me.

Knew someone at school who went on to become an actress. Watched a few of her interviews and she acts as if she is the nicest of the nice.....but she was and is, a truly awful individual.

A boy who was always a bit weird at school but did quite well academically is now in prison for committing a really brutal murder that made the headlines at the time of the trial.😵

A classmate of mine for many years, Uni then worked in social services, rape crisis counseling for a few years, etc.

She moved to the US, and more than 20 years in the US army now.
