Girl I did my a levels with was a county athletics champion and one of the smartest kids in school. She went on to be a singer in a mediocre girl band.

One anecdote from a random person makes it true.

Lad I went to school with, grungy, emo kid, played bass in a rock band, very angsty, “I want to fight the whole world type”…..he’s now an Oncologist at quite a big London hospital.

I became a nurse and all i was interested in was fashion!

To study to become a doctor you need to be incredibly clever, there is no way they would pass the exams without being incredibly clever. I never came across as someone who would become a nurse I wanted to be in fashion, which I did but then then i retrained to be a nurse. And I love it!

Would that be a certain Gordon Ramsay by any chance?

A notorious bully at my school went on to be a mental health advocate in a particular industry.

She does renaissance faires and has photo shoots and books and stuff. Whilst dressed up as a fairy.

I randomly saw a photo of her on the desk of an old work colleague years ago and said “oh I know her! She grew up down the road from me” and said colleague reacted like I’d said Beyoncé was a close personal friend. 😆

Hello Math! Nice to see someone I “recognize”!

A girl a couple of years below me at school became a famous television actress, had her wedding in magazines etc.

Someone else I knew at school (and in fact flatted with after we finished school) started his own company after dropping out of university. When I was living with him he didn't seem to be doing that much on it, slept in every morning etc. 20 years down the track he sold it for an absolute fortune to a massive global media company. He was basically retired by his late 30s, he keeps himself busy with various projects but doesn't actually need to work!

Very quiet girl in my year ended up as bassist in a very famous international rock group. Not what I expected at all!! Couldn’t believe it when a friend told me. Looked it up and it’s true. Amazeballs. Good for her!

I went to a normal pedestrian high school in Kent.
One girl sticks in my mind as she was so quiet and shy. Badly bullied. Parents were bloody awful (I remember age ran away at one point but turned up a day later hiding at someone's house but we were all sent to the hall to be spoken to).

Hadn't seen her in years after school, heard nothing at all in fact but we weren't mates.

Then it popped up on our school years Facebook group that very quiet shy girl is now a DJ, runs a huge party business and at one point ran a radio station as well with about 30 worldwide dance DJs on it regularly. Her DH is gorgeous too lucky thing.

Talk about a surprise, the only connection any of us have ever made is that she always had headphones on at school and a Walkman, and was a massive fan of smash hits.

Good for her I say!

Oh, another one - a pretty but shy girl and a couple grungy boys from the local school had a high school band (that I assumed was just a teenage thing) but they've now won a Mercury

Another girl I was at boarding school with was a dreadful bully. She put the fear of God in me. She is now a much loved comedy actress whose tv persona for me, is entirely based on the scathing snobbery she displayed throughout school. She still makes me shudder and I just can’t watch her.
