Purely me being nosy...

My neighbour, I haven't a clue what she does for work, young glam woman.

I spot her fairly often leaving her house on foot, dressed very glam businesslike with some sort of pass on a lanyard and a laptop bag but then she always walks home again within 45 mins to an hour.

I want to ask her as it baffles me so much. If she works from home, and is just going for a walk, why does she bring her laptop? If she's going to work, what on Earth does she do for such a short period of time? I want her job Grin

I'm loving all the possibilities here, especially the spy ones 😃
Your mission OP, should you choose to accept it, is to make contact with the asset and find out what she's up to.

Yes, spy.

Sidle up to her at the next opportunity (preferably when she is sitting on a park bench) and ask her if the crows are late flying north this spring .
You will of course need your own laptop bag with you so you can discreetly swap

BeaLola · 27/04/2022 23:11

Havent had chance to read all the posts but is there a lapop in the bag .. perhaps she is going to he gym and just uses that bag ? I thnk you need to knock next when she is in wih a spurious excuse, get chatting & interrogate her & then report back here immediately 😆

Put on a beret and a cod french accent! Stare into the middle distance when talking.

Booklover3 · 27/04/2022 23:50

Drugs… no laptop?

This reminds me of a former neighbour of mine ! I used to live in a flat about 15 years ago and one of my neighbours was a couple . The gentleman was from overseas and was a banker. He lost his job and apparently he didn't tell his wife for sometime. Every morning he'd get up and get dressed in a suit and leave, and come home round about the time he used to when he was in employment. His wife eventually found out. However, even after his wife had found out, I used to see him leaving the building in the morning very smartly dressed , suit and all, carrying a briefcase, and then about half an hour later I would see him sitting in his balcony reading a newspaper🙃. The marriage didn't last.

She has an identical twin and they work opposite shifts and live in the same house. So really you see twin one leaving and 45mins later the other twin returning

This 🤪

FourOclock · 28/04/2022 09:23

She's an influencer and goes out to take photos of herself at various locations for ads?

SmugOldBag · 28/04/2022 10:02

Op hasn't returned. I had questions. We all need answers.

Maybe she followed her in a reconnaissance mission and has been taken hostage having been mistaken for a enemy spy?

Aniko42 · 28/04/2022 18:34

Don't you have better things to do?

Could you elaborate more on your perspectives please ?

MrsLighthouse · 28/04/2022 19:10

This is the beginning of a novel / tv drama ! I’m totally invested …

Onwards22 · 28/04/2022 19:12

Sorry NRTFT but what establishments are there in your area?

Is there a school?
We have various visitors come in for less than an hour to work with specific children and they always carry a laptop and lanyards.

I also wonder if she does zoom meetings but sits in a place where she has good signal or it’s quieter/less messy than her home.

CurlyBurley · 28/04/2022 19:14

Come on OP, I can't stand the suspense.

Georgyporky · 28/04/2022 19:23

Perhaps she's a sex worker with a very rapid turnover ?

neekeem · 28/04/2022 19:25

I think OP has been whisked away for national security reasons.

She already has said too much 😮

Sillyname63 · 28/04/2022 19:29

Is she single or in a relationship? Does he leave in between her leaving and returning? If so perhaps she has lost her job but hasn't told her other half of WFH but again hasn't told him for whatever reason.

Dahliasandtea · 28/04/2022 19:30

Friend of mine always (even before Covid) worked from home. Self employed. She would get up in morning and get dressed in work clothes, have breakfast, leave the house, get a coffee, have a walk around the block and go home 9am and start work.
come 5.30pm she would leave the house, walk to the pub have a drink walk around the block and go home, get undressed into slouchy comfy clothes and set herself up for the evening’s home’. She said it helped her frame her mind to work and then to home. It’s a recognised way to help not get distracted by home tasks when WFH.

littleorchard45 · 28/04/2022 19:33

My lovely SIL rents a small office in the village she lives in away from home, and always looks very glamorous. Doesn’t explain the short time frame but maybe using an office or cafe elsewhere?!?

These days you never know.

SilverOtter · 28/04/2022 19:38

Oh I need to know the answer!😅

AnnUumellmahaye · 28/04/2022 19:40

Does she live with someone else. I vaguely remember (and this might be someone I once knew, or something I read) a person that would pretend to go to work each day, because they didn't have the heart to tell their partner they had lost their job. Think they used to spend their days in the library. Very sad really.
If she lives with someone, maybe she returns home after they have gone to work.

There is a WFH mental focus aid that works on using the same morning routine when you're WFH as you would when working on site. If you take it really literally then all of this would be part of the drill - same clothes you'd wear on site, same bag/kit, same journey length. When you arrive 'at work' then you behave like you're in the office - no putting on a quick load of laundry, no daytime TV in the background, no sneaky lunchtime nap.

Or that's not a laptop in the bag and she's doing cash drops for the mob Grin

I thought this could be the answer but would she really bother with the lanyard? 🧐
