Purely me being nosy...

My neighbour, I haven't a clue what she does for work, young glam woman.

I spot her fairly often leaving her house on foot, dressed very glam businesslike with some sort of pass on a lanyard and a laptop bag but then she always walks home again within 45 mins to an hour.

I want to ask her as it baffles me so much. If she works from home, and is just going for a walk, why does she bring her laptop? If she's going to work, what on Earth does she do for such a short period of time? I want her job Grin

Think she might be working from home, but going on walks for exercise/a change of scenery. It's a bit puzzling about the laptop bag, but could be just in case there is an urgent email or something?

Wheresmywoolyjumpers · 27/04/2022 21:29

I guess she is going to a briefing or a meeting where she is assigned work she then comes home and does?

Blinky21 · 27/04/2022 21:34

Meeting someone for work in a coffee shop then going home to WFH

Caterina99 · 27/04/2022 21:39

It’s not me as I’m not particularly smart and I’m not away for 45 min, but I live in a village and I often have a laptop bag.

I actually work very close to my house. Like a 5 min walk away. I usually drive on a morning as I drop the kids at school, but then I go home for lunch and then leave the car with DH so he can do the afternoon school run, and I walk back in to the office for the afternoon. Obviously if DH actually needs the car I walk in on a morning too.

Maybe she works nearby? My bet is going for a coffee or something in her work day so she takes her laptop.

WrongWayApricot · 27/04/2022 21:43

Avon lady, it's not a laptop just leaflets and samples.

CherrySocks · 27/04/2022 21:43

Maybe there's no WiFi in her house and she has found somewhere else she can do a daily Zoom call from.... but then why would she need the lanyard?
Oh, maybe she has to show the pass on the Zoom call.

IStandWithMaya · 27/04/2022 21:48

Just taking a walk in preparation for a day working from home?

Russian spy. Obviously 😉

Any news?! 👀

Give her a chance! She’s got to don a disguise and plan her “casual conversation”, keep a diary for patterns of time, plus be ready at door with camera and wired when neighbour leaves. That all takes planning. I think she needs at least a week ….

me4real · 27/04/2022 22:04

Is there a coffee shop she might be going to, to chill out with her lappy or emails etc?

Soounds like she's really glammed up, though.

MayMorris · 27/04/2022 22:04

Op, how many times does sh3 go out each day? If multiple I’d vote either estate agent or health visitor type thing.

MayMorris · 27/04/2022 22:05

Mind you I did also think a discreet sex worker!

MoreStigma · 27/04/2022 22:06

Perhaps she's a very discrete sex worker and the lanyard is a disguise to throw off nosy neighbours.

MoreStigma · 27/04/2022 22:06

Crossed posts I see I'm not the first to think discrete sex worker I may or may not be taking from experience a long time ago

sonjadog · 27/04/2022 22:07

I don't think it can just be a coffee shop visit, as why would you wear your lanyard to a coffee shop? I reckon either an estate agent, or she works from home but there is a nearby office and she has to go in from time to use the printer/have meetings etc.

does ‘lappy’ mean ‘laptop’ in this context?

because it has meant ‘lapdancer’ or ‘lap dancing club’ where I’m from

HugeBowlofChips · 27/04/2022 22:12

Hired assasin. There's a gun/ garotte in the bag. But only does local jobs due to childcare issues.

TwinklyBranch · 27/04/2022 22:24

Shoe tester. She takes the computer to weigh her down more and stress test them properly. Look closely and I bet she's wearing a different pair every time.

Irishfarmer · 27/04/2022 22:27

Do you have a child get them to ask? Years ago on study leave I walked up to the shop about 4 times in one day, coming home the last time my neighbours v nosey 6 yr old ran out of her house to ask where had I been, where was I earlier and would I be going out again 😂made me feel like I should stay in and study.

Christinatherabbit · 27/04/2022 22:30

I'm far more invested in this than I should be haha

Itsallrocknroll · 27/04/2022 22:38

Works on files - has to upload them securely so goes to ( office?) To do this. Downloads more work. Rinse and repeat.

Or a spy🤣🤣

ThatPosterIsSoRight · 27/04/2022 22:43

A laptop saleswoman. Only to local clients.

Or maybe it’s a cover to distract her neighbours while her associates remove the latest body from the house.

GeorgesMarvelousCalpol · 27/04/2022 22:50

I'm loving all the possibilities here, especially the spy ones 😃
Your mission OP, should you choose to accept it, is to make contact with the asset and find out what she's up to.

During lockdown my neighbour started to get dressed for work, leave the house and go for a walk for about 20 minutes before returning to start work. He said this fake ‘commute’ helped him get into the right mind set for the working day when working from home and he does it again reverse at the end of the working day to help him wind down.
