Gas & electric has trebled - surely it's time to vote the Tories out now?

I've been waiting to see how much it'd go up by and the bill's arroved - it's now just under £300 a month. That's more than 10% of my monthly income.

I've had very low gas readings recently as our heating isn't working properly. We just had a cold winter as we couldn't afford to get it fixed, I guess next winter is going to be cold too. This is the UK in the 21st Century, FFS!

What is it going to take for people to vote these fuckers out? They're bleeding us dry and destroying our children's future. And, how many dead under Covid, due to their mismanagement of the crisis? More concerned with giving lucrative contracts to their mates than lives or well being of the general population. Their parties are a symptom of this attitude. We are absolutely not "all in it together".

Does anyone really still think this group of entitled, self-serving, priviledged wankers have our best interests at heart?

My local ward is a Lib Dem-Tory marginal. I don't usually vote Lib Dem, but I will this year in the local elections to get these fuckers out.

Who's joining me for some tactical voting?

People saying they would never vote conservative because of Brexit. Well I can never vote Labour or lid dem after they tried to delay or undo enacting the democratic referendum we had. Spitting in the face of democracy I can never forgive.

Brexit is now making the cost of living crisis even worse, enacting Brexit border controls, according to Rees Mogg would be an act of self harm.

Says it all really.

From memory, it was the Tories who delayed Brexit, they couldn't get behind their PM, who then called a GE instead of getting on with Brexit.
Even after this disaster, the Tories still had a majority but couldn't get their MPs into line.... opposition parties are under no obligation to support any Govt.. the hint is in the word "opposition"

The cost of living and fuel is rising globally. Whichever government we had would have exactly the same issue.

Alexandra2001 · 02/05/2022 08:00

@Sniffypete No one has said otherwise, its the Governments response to it that is different to most EU countries, who have prioritised helping the consumer over (in the UK) helping the energy companies.

An example would be allowing suppliers to double even treble the standing charge...making sure they make money (a billion in profit so far) regardless of how much we conserve.

Energy suppliers are making money by taking on the customers of bust customers (& charging them higher tariffs) so the argument they need to charge more is bogus.

Unfortunately people defending the Tories handling of this are just enabling them to rip us off even further.

Yes, absolutely. But is the job of government to deal with global crises and it's how they deal with the issue that matters.

If your aims are things like making profit for the ultra rich, shrinking the state and privatisation then you're not going to be as effective in a crisis as those who are trying to make things better for people.

Life is getting worse under the Tories and has been for ages. Can't you feel it? Stop falling for their excuses.

Yes, this.

Exactly what I was trying to say but much more eloquently explained.

The Tories are deliberately enabling parasitic corporations to prey on us, but people are generally trusting and many don't realise the extent to which we're being exploited by these fuckers.
