If he's denying calling Ellwood that he probably said it.

Roussette · 27/04/2022 08:17

I'm always amused by BJ's shock horror it wasn't me face. You just know he's lying. He's like an overgrown toddler, you just know, he's predictable.

To be honest I have more trouble telling when he’s being truthful, if Boris opens his mouth I start from the point that he’s lying either directly or by omission.

"Boris Johnson denies calling Tory rebel Tobias Ellwood 'that c* Ellwood' on @TalkTV

'No...' he says. 'Politicians love talking about themselves. What I want to do is focus on the electorate'"

He seems nice...

Hang on. Boris is denying being truthful about Ellwood.
Why would he do that?

HarrietPierce · 27/04/2022 11:01

"Hang on. Boris is denying being truthful about Ellwood."

Surely Ellwood is one of the very few better ones.

I always think he is like Just William, it would be funny if it wasn't so awful.

L1ttledrummergirl · 27/04/2022 11:30

It seems that the government has been found by the high Court of acting illegally when they discharged people from hospital to care homes at the start of the pandemic.

How much more before this inept, dishonest poor excuse for a man resigns?

Notonthestairs · 27/04/2022 11:34

drummergirl - they'll direct criticisms to Hancock rather than Johnson. Hancock is already a lost cause so no loss to them.

But really Johnson and the Cabinet as a whole are fully responsible here.

Cornettoninja · 27/04/2022 11:41

It’s awful isn’t it @L1ttledrummergirl? I’ve been reminded as I’m listening to LBC that the care home staff were blamed at one point, despite no access to PPE and having to accept positive residents on discharge from hospital. Blamed for working in appalling circumstances with no tools to even attempt to prevent further harm. Blamed. But we’re not allowed to forget this cabinet were doing a difficult job in difficult circumstances.

Sadly, for various reasons, this won’t gain the traction it should do. 12,000 peoples deaths (figure second hand from the radio) are directly linked to this governments actions.

I don’t care if it takes partygate to indirectly call those to account. I’m not letting it go if that’s the way it has to happen.

EXCL: A Tory frontbencher watched porn on his mobile phone in the House of Commons while sitting alongside a female minister

Links (in my mind) to the pathetic story about Rayner. Of course they respect women...

”let the bodies pile high”

ClaudineClare · 27/04/2022 11:50

It says a lot that that the female minister concerned didn't feel able to report that disgusting person. How vile.

Agree.

I hope that means criminal prosecutions are on their way. Surely anyone who breaks the law expects to be prosecuted if people die as a result of their lawbreaking. Or is that just another rule for the plebs?

ClaudineClare · 27/04/2022 12:01

They are trying to shift the blame on to the NHS.

Beat me to it.

But "at least they know what a woman is" so it's fine to vote for them expecting them to respect and promote women's safety.

jgw1 · 27/04/2022 12:06

ClaudineClare · 27/04/2022 12:01

Well I don't know why the NHS routinely has perfectly well people hanging around in beds in hospitals as though it is some kind of holiday home. The speed with which they were moved to care homes shows what is possible if the will is there, so why isn't the will there normally there. Lazy NHS staff having party all the time.

Notonthestairs · 27/04/2022 12:08

Apparently two separate instances of Tory MPs looking at porn whilst in Parliament - Steven Swinford reports on Twitter.

ClaudineClare · 27/04/2022 11:50

Absolutely. But it seems that defining a woman isn't enough for females to feel safe enough to report it.

What does it say about the culture promoted by Johnson that this behaviour was considered acceptable?

I wonder what would happen to, for example a teacher spotted doing that in a staff meeting?

Notonthestairs · 27/04/2022 12:11

Yes I've just seen the response from MH Claudine. They will take zero responsibility.

James O'Brien commenting that Parliament will be closed 3 days early for local elections - they would usually sit until next Wednesday. Contemptible attempt to escape questioning.

the80sweregreat · 27/04/2022 12:14

Of course they are trying to shift the blame. Pre covid my dad's care home was described as a ' revolving door ' by its employees for its residents and they were always in and out of hospital all the time. There must have been pressure on all the homes to take in people to clear the wards , its obvious that happened , not just at dads place but every single care home there is! My dad died from covid , the care home were quick to blame everyone else for what happened and I'd love to know how many others died in there too.
It was a deeply distressing time for everyone , but I'm sure that any inquests or whatever will be the usual whitewash too I suppose.

L1ttledrummergirl · 27/04/2022 12:15

God Boris sounds ridiculous now. The baying mob behind him need to grow up!

Cornettoninja · 27/04/2022 12:16

I’m just going to leave this here

fullfact.org/economy/boris-johnson-makes-false-employment-claim-for-ninth-time-in-parliament/?utm_source=content_page&utm_medium=related_content

How is a Tory prime minister deflecting opposition points by referring to when they were in power - over a decade ago. It’s just weak.

I don’t want my prime minister obsessed with the actions of the opposition actions over a decade ago, I want them to concentrate on now and have actual answers to criticism of their policies.
