Do you think the queen is really poorly?

As in dying 😔. I know she is very old and fragile at 95 but I do wonder if she is trying to keep going until the Royal jubilee.

I'm another who thinks she's getting very frail. Loosing her DH, and covid restrictions plus other family issues will have knocked the stuffing out of her.

I've long suspected she planned to retire at 96, same age as PP. But think she was holding of until the jubilee celebrations. She may or may not formally make PC, Prince Regent, or just give him all of her jobs but she will not abdicate.

User280905 · 09/05/2022 23:25

God love her. My gran is 96. I can't imagine her having to do anything for anyone right now. Dressing up and parading around Parliament with a crown on? Give her a break.

magnoliaabomination · 09/05/2022 23:26

I'm struggling to believe that the Times put up a story about HM having bone cancer, one MNer saw it, but there's no trace of it on Twitter.

She's 96, and reportedly doesn't want to be seen using a wheelchair or zimmerframe. Perhaps out of pride, perhaps remembering the fairly grim photos of Princess Margaret in a wheelchair. Probably true, but it's also a convenient smokescreen for hiding just how unwell she could be. There's a long spectrum between too wobbly to walk a long way without a zimmerframe and at death's door.

Hopefully she'll last until after the Jubilee though, bank holidays are jolly important in my line of work.

Ok 😂🙈 @MVision
Press are not given the ‘nod’ in these circumstances 😂😂😂

RachelGreeneGreep · 09/05/2022 23:38

I think the attendance at parliament would be quite onerous, given how frail she has become. I'm guessing she will be on the balcony for the celebrations but will otherwise leave the rest of them to it.

ScrollingLeaves · 09/05/2022 23:42

I think she is suddenly much more frail, and has lost a lot of weight.

Agree, I'm sure the last time the crown was carried on a cushion as she was finding it too heavy, uncomfortable to wear.

Iamnotokifyouarenotok · 10/05/2022 00:01

She is 96 ,frail ,mobility is poor and possibly has a problem with MC …think her aids are the best people to judge whether her dignity would be compromised to be seen in public again.

Dinoteeth · 10/05/2022 00:10

@Iamnotokifyouarenotok what do you mean by MC?

Mental Capacity

Dinoteeth · 10/05/2022 00:15

Thanks for explaining that one 👍

ICannotRememberAThing · 10/05/2022 00:17

’She was last seen in public on Tuesday, March 29 2022 when the Queen attended the memorial service for her beloved late husband, Prince Philip, at Westminster Abbey in London.

Thats over a month ago. I can’t remember how she looked then.

GreenClock · 10/05/2022 00:24

I’m not a royalist. I’d like to see the whole thing abolished once QE has died. But I feel sorry for her atm, the pressure to perform is immense and she is clearly gravely unwell. The flag-waving nutters won’t really want to see Charles.

AuntTwacky · 10/05/2022 00:59

I don't think there's anything wrong with her MC

Popsicle33 · 10/05/2022 01:11

I'm waiting for the usual suspects to turn up, the ones who know someone/husband/friend who works 'high up' and plans are in place for an 'announcement'...It happens every time! They're like psychics and Armageddoners who go strangely silent when nothing happens!

nettie434 · 10/05/2022 01:25

I think the Queen has definitely become a lot frailer but I don't see any reason to think she is seriously ill. Parliament is an absolutely dreadful building in terms of accessibility (dark and dingy and full of dreadful staircases). The state opening of parliament is quite a long ceremony and is quite demanding for the monarch. Those state coaches can't be easy to get in and out of. If it's true that she does not want to be seen in a wheelchair, I can see why she has decided not to do it.

She did look thinner and more stooped at the memorial service for Prince Phillip but I don't imagine she is particularly cognitively impaired. I expect the Palace servants would still be given short shrift if they forgot protocol and said 'C'mon pet, let's get that nasty heavy crown off' or forgot to iron the Racing Post.

GoodJanetBadJanet · 10/05/2022 02:10

I'I think she's in her 90s.
Both my Grandmas are too.
You tend to be frail at that age.
What are you basing your OP on? I haven't been following news much recently on her.
She's what, nearly 96?! Give her a break.

GetThatHelmetOn · 10/05/2022 02:47

I don’t think she is dying, at least not yet, she just needs to retire and have some peace like all people her age, she just doesn’t want to. I wish she did, nothing outrageous on becoming a “queen mother”

I agree!
Many elderly people are way sharper than I am these days. My Grandmother being one of them - she was as sharp as a pin right to the end. Her body deteriorated but her mind didn’t.

I think I had heard a vague rumour of the QM having a colostomy before it was made official. It's not something I took much notice of though.

Yep one of her hip ops wasn't a hip op.

I thought you had written us a poem for a second! 🫣

(I agree with you btw!)

Bahhhhhumbug · 10/05/2022 03:34

I think the death of Prince Philip has knocked her for six. She suddenly looks like a very frail old lady (which of course she is - old l mean) whereas before she never did.

LoisLane66 · 10/05/2022 03:56

HM is now 96. I think it's the standing and walking that prevents her attending meetings and events more than any illness. I doubt that she's ill or unwell, just very old and unsteady on her feet.
Time to put her feet up with a cuppa or her fav tipple with Angie, both watching Corrie.

LoisLane66 · 10/05/2022 04:00

H&M only spent 15 minutes with Her Maj according to one of the household staff. They were en route to the Invictus Games.
