Do you think the queen is really poorly?

As in dying 😔. I know she is very old and fragile at 95 but I do wonder if she is trying to keep going until the Royal jubilee.

@MVision

Yes she is - the newspapers have had the nod - it's why meghan and harry have come over
How do you know this?
MVision · 14/04/2022 21:51

Meghan and Harry saw her this morning

AledsiPad · 14/04/2022 21:52

Yes.

She's nearly 96, it's not especially uncommon to be unwell/dying. Hmm

Oh right do you have insider info then Hmm

If @Frazzled2207 is a journalist, probably. I’m not in a newsroom now but there are certainly moments when we’re told to make sure the obituaries are up-to-date

TheFlis12345 · 14/04/2022 21:53

It was confirmed a few minutes ago by the BBC that Harry and Meghan are visiting the Queen:

Whether just old age or old age + illness, she is now clearly unable to carry out the duties as she did a couple of years ago. Notable she has said COVID left her exhausted, long COVID is going to do that for a lot of people.

Hmm I know some editors are a bit thick but I don't think they really needed telling that a 95 year old will in all likelihood die sooner rather than later.

Give over Hmm
FelicityPike · 14/04/2022 21:55

I do, yes.

IncompleteSenten · 14/04/2022 21:56

She's very old and very frail

She has lived a long and luxurious life and she's going to die of old age. She's very fortunate. It will be sad for her family of course but she is very very elderly and death is probably not far away. My auntie is only a couple of years younger and it's hard even when you know it's coming.

Pyri · 14/04/2022 21:56

I know she’s very old but the prospect of her actually dying makes me feel really quite sad

I look forward to everyone blaming Meghan for her death too somehow

ronjobbins · 14/04/2022 21:57

@uffington

Apparently her bad back is due to a bowel issue. Not sure how serious a bowel issue though.

Yes, for her to miss Easter service is a big deal I think.

SparkleSpangle · 14/04/2022 21:59

I think @MVision might be correct. Harry and Meagan are visiting the queen now despite saying on many occasions they wouldn't come to the uk.

I think this is Harry saying goodbye.

CombatBarbie · 14/04/2022 22:01

Not uncommon for a rapid decline after a spouses death, coupled with covid and anything else health wise this does not surprise me sadly.

SpringIsSprung1 · 14/04/2022 22:03

I'm going to say what I'm sure a lot of Royalists are probably thinking... Those two have caused so much anguish for the Queen that they haven't exactly done much to ease her into her final years. Although she will forgive them. Her achievements have been phenomenal.

Blimecory · 14/04/2022 22:05

I work in media and while we do regularly update obituaries, we have not updated anything new for the Queen for a while. We did do for Prince Philip when he was ailing. Unless something new has happened today -I’m off work today.

theyhavenothingbuttheaudacity · 14/04/2022 22:05

It would be so sad if she didn't reach her jubilee

Surely you wouldn't be able to mention anything though? Due to your job and confidentiality?
MVision · 14/04/2022 22:06

Yes it's today @Blimecory

StScholastica · 14/04/2022 22:07

I am no royalist, but even I hate this kind of speculation.

EdithWeston · 14/04/2022 22:08

Some will be fraility associated with ageing.

I have a pet theory about a condition she might have (not going to post what I think it is) that does fit what we know of her recent illnesses (the hospital visit last year, the explanations, such as we get them, since).

She is cetainly smaller, slight stoop, general loss of conditions. Still think she is marvellous for her age - has all faculties and reasonable mobility.

If she does have an underlying health condition, which is not immediate cause for concern, I expect they'll hold off announcing itnfir as long as possible. For the public interest is in when the head of state's health is about to make a difference (so not just the obvious cinsequences of obvious ageing). And that's not the same as public curiosity. Everyone, including the Queen, should be able to keep health issues private until they choose otherwise

MajorCarolDanvers · 14/04/2022 22:08

She is a very old lady. Now 95/96 with mobility problems.

She could go any day or live another several years just like her mother did.
