Boris has been fined - Tory voters, should he go?

Both Johnson and Sunak have received fines for the lockdown parties. No further details as yet.

Do any Conservative voters here think Boris should resign?

They should both go.
Maybe I should start my own thread but have we ever had so many awful people in government (like the actual number of them)?

Duracellbunnywannabe · 12/04/2022 18:07

@Franklin12

So I am a Tory voter. Labour have been screaming for everyone to resign since Johnson got in power. Its what Labour do - they moan from the sidelines but history has taught us that they are bloody useless in power bar Blair and a new Blair isnt coming anytime soon.

So we are effectively stuck with what we have. Labour are a mess, what is a women, Raynor who is just awful and completely out of her depth. The Far Left have ruined it for Labour to get into power. Corbyn was a disgrace and all over the place. Many Labour supporters on MN stated that if Starmer was in power he would have walked it yet he has been a wet weekend.

We are stuck with Tories regardless. You can moan and whinge but unless anything comes along that is better the country is going to vote again and again for them.

I welcome a strong opposition. Labour isnt it!

The parties were shameful but even if we had an election tomorrow Boris and co would still get in with a majority almost definitely not 80 though. Dont talk about the Libs. They are hopeless.

Surely if BJ resigned the next leader of the Tories would take his place not KS? So comparing him to labour is a straw man argument.

@theDudesmummy

Michael Fucking Fabricant's take:

"I don't think at any time he thought he was breaking the law... he thought just like many teachers and nurses who after a very long shift would go back to the staff room and have a quiet drink".

!!!!!!!!!!

What a wanker.

daimbarsat - it doesnt grab you as slightly opportunistic/hypercitical that starmer is berating boris for doing exactly what he did himself?

baroqueandblue · 12/04/2022 18:09

Don't forget most of those you deride are paying the benefits of those needing them.

And after Sunak has finished with them, they'll be wishing they'd never heard of Universal Credit.

HarrietPierce7 · 12/04/2022 18:11

starma

Starmer Not Starma or Keith /Kieth

dreamingofsun · 12/04/2022 18:11

isnt it interesting that when you ask labour surporters a fairly easy question they cant/wont answer it and just sling mud at boris and conservative supporters? Its what the police said doesnt answer the crux of the question.

Roussette · 12/04/2022 18:11

No.
It was investigated. It was NOT a criminal offence.

And remember there's another 7 attendances at 'parties' by BJ to follow.
This is not done.

BlueEyesWhiteDragon · 12/04/2022 18:12

I'm what would be classed as a "natural" Conservative voter although I'm exceptionally disenfranchised with politics in general.

I think there are many things Boris should have gone for, but receiving a FPN for the 10 min birthday cake thing is not one of them tbh and the same applies to Sunak.

Other fines for other parties might be different but this incident all on its own. No.

Roussette · 12/04/2022 18:12

Dreaming

I have just answered you

Roussette · 12/04/2022 18:13

Don't worry Blue they're doing the fines in chronological order. There's another 6 or 7 parties to be looked at.

Leggingslife · 12/04/2022 18:14

I've never voted Tory. And would never vote for that clown. So sad that we are a great country, but this fool is the best we can produce to lead us?

SueSaid · 12/04/2022 18:15

'Oh come on, time to resign from the chairman of the Boris Fan Club. Are you not worn out with it all?'

I'm worn out with the very desperate mud slinging. 10mins in his actual office with his colleagues. Jesus the ridiculousness of it is astounding.

I'm not chairman of any fan clubs thanks.

littledrummergirl · 12/04/2022 18:15

I've just seen the report of him reading a statement.
He says that although he introduced the no gathering rules, he didn't know he was at a gathering.

So our PM is either pig shit thick or has lied to parliament.

Personally I think either of those is a good reason for him to go.

TooBigForMyBoots · 12/04/2022 18:15

What bit of PM Johnson broke the law, Keir Starmer didn't do you not understand @dreamingofsun? It's like saying KS broke the rules because he went to a birthday party in 2019 when the rules were different.

Roussette · 12/04/2022 18:16

We've got the Abba party to go yet....November 13th. In his flat.

FrankLeeSpeaking · 12/04/2022 18:16

He should resign in disgrace, but he won't. He doesn't have the character to do the right thing.

FrankLeeSpeaking · 12/04/2022 18:17

@Leggingslife

Anybody who wants to be the PM at the moment wouldn't make a good PM, in fairness.

What fairly easy question?

Let's try you with a couple?

Did Boris lie to House of Commons and the nation about parties?
Why does proven liar and lawbreaker who broke the ministerial code not have the decency to admit it and resign?

lightisnotwhite · 12/04/2022 18:18

@Grumpyoldpersonwithcats

Cant stand Boris but the elephant in the room not being mentioned is how stupid and nonsensical a lot of the rules were. Rules created by Boris and his ministers...
People moaned because there wasn’t enough guidance and then in the same breath moaned about their mental health in lockdown We were trying to avoid something like France where you couldn’t get out of your road without being checked. Really, is that what people actually wanted? I thought the “rules” were fine. Enough to slow the spread but didn’t go on longer than needed.

I saw the photos of Boris parties. In every one there was clearly social distancing, work suits worn and people who were or would be working together. The public that got fined were genuinely taking the piss with house parties and people mixing unnecessarily.

I don’t know what other rules people think would have been better?

HarrietPierce7 · 12/04/2022 18:19

Keir's beer seems so important to Johnson fangirls. It's irrelevant-the police said there was no case to answer.

TheSillyMastiff · 12/04/2022 18:19

I've voted conservative since 2009. But I'm not a conservative, I'm a swing voter and just haven't really alligned with anyone else during those elections.

I think if a election was called tomorrow, I'd vote some random shit in because the main parties just don't appeal to me. But hey ho I digress.

Should Boris go? Probably but who the hell would take his place, Give? Patel? Fuck I'd rather the devil I know to be honest.

daimbarsatemydogsbone · 12/04/2022 18:19

OK so he shouldn't resign for the FPN - what about the fact that he's lied about it repeatedly?
Roussette · 12/04/2022 18:20

I saw the photos of Boris parties

Do you have a photo of the Abba party in his flat? I'd like to see that!

cakeorwine · 12/04/2022 18:21

Do people remember the Kuwait war when we had British troops actually involved in fighting?

Thatcher sent troops to Saudi so they could take part.

Then there was the leadership elections and John Major took over.

So there is no excuse to hide behind Ukraine and say we can't have a leadership election as the Conservatives have history on this.

Ukraine will have our support regardless of who is PM
