Boris has been fined - Tory voters, should he go?

NewYorker80 · 12/04/2022 13:43

Both Johnson and Sunak have received fines for the lockdown parties. No further details as yet.

Do any Conservative voters here think Boris should resign?

'And how do you know it is just cake-gate? I have looked and looked but am unable to establish which parties and how many'

It's on the news. Their fpns are about going into the cabinet office for a bit of cake.

If there's more fine yes I'll be persuaded to shout for his resignation but at the moment, no I'm not apoplectic at all.

CapMarvel · 12/04/2022 16:25

@JaniieJones

'If FPN have been issued then he and Sunak have broken the fucking law. It's really, really simple'

Context. Eating cake in an office, it's not a party. It's 'really really simple'. It's a token fpn.

The msm and the opposition maybe need to take some deep breaths and calm their jets a bit.

"We don't yet know which parties under investigation by the police the pair of politicians will be fined for attending."

Strange that you seem to know more than has been announced publically, isn't it? Almost as if you, say, work for the tory party and so have a vested interest in defending these fuckwits.

Roussette · 12/04/2022 16:26

Ahhh but NETSRIK it's the wrong type of party that he broke the law for!
He was ambushed!
By cake!

You couldn't make it up

'I do recall you said on several occasions, recently, that you would change you view on BJ if he was ever found guilty.'

Yes of attending a party. Not this.

I thought there'd been a big knees up in the flat or something according to Cummings? Maybe there's more who knows.

But this is a damp squib and we all know it.

Do you ever forget where you left your goalposts given you move them so much?

C’mon JaniieJones, have some self respect, you can’t seriously want people to think you didn’t comprehend what was under investigation when you’ve posted so prolifically?

hattie43 · 12/04/2022 16:27

No there are bigger things to worry about . In different times I'd say yes he has lied he needs to go but right now no and besides who could replace him no obvious successor

ancientgran · 12/04/2022 16:27

@MoggyCentral

But, *@ancientgran*, they never stopped wearing masks in Scotland and their numbers were nearly twice ours. So I think we can say masks were pretty useless.
Different places, different circumstances. Where I am in the south west it has rocketed since the restrictions all came off at once.

Who would replace him is utterly irrelevant to whether he should resign.

You don't not sack people for gross misconduct just because you need to do a bit of recruitment.

Pitafalafel · 12/04/2022 16:29

certainly the law makers should be sacked for breaking their own laws!

You would think so. But Alexander Johnson will no doubt be around shortly to tell us “bumble bluster piffle paffle ”

seekingasimplelife · 12/04/2022 16:29

@painauraisin

Of course not, don't you know there's a war on?There are bigger things to worry about!

Sorry, just getting in first. Of course he should go but he won't.

My thoughts too...Diversionary war theory - it's proving to be a good tactic to piggyback onto...
Roussette · 12/04/2022 16:29

I'd appreciate a link on that Janiie if you've got it.

I can't find anything saying it's just cake-gate. In fact this is what it says

"Spokespeople for the Johnsons and Mr Sunak said they had not been told which event the fines were linked to" BBCNews

So, your link to that would be appreciated!

PrettyVacancy · 12/04/2022 16:30

Keir Starmer hasn’t a clue what a woman is, so do you think he should resign too? Personally, I’d prefer them both to resign and see if there’s anyone more capable of doing their jobs.

Pitafalafel · 12/04/2022 16:30

@hattie43
Indeed. Who on Earth could replace the most incompetent Prime Minister ever? At a time of national economic crisis it would be absolute madness to get rid of the incompetent fool running the country.

Cornettoninja · 12/04/2022 16:31

Oh, give over it's hardly Watergate

@DFOD no it’s not, we’ve already glossed over worse.

Pitafalafel · 12/04/2022 16:32

@PrettyVacancy
silly whataboutism. Sir Keir Starmer has not been found guilty of breaking the law.

I have self respect! I've been waiting for evidence of rule breaking and parties to find out they've just given him and Sunak fpns for being in the cabinet office, at work. Having cake.

It's just not that shocking I really did think they must have more, actual partying etc. Maybe there is.

magicofthefae · 12/04/2022 16:32

"There is literally nothing that would make this fucker resign. Even if he was convicted of paedophilia or something, his cheerleaders would insist he was fine to carry on governing from prison."

Exactly this!!!!!

Oh yes I bet Sunak and Johnson would be grateful for the information.

Pitafalafel · 12/04/2022 16:34

@JaniieJones
He’s been found guilty of breaking the law. Nobody was fined for eating a piece of cake at work.

How come you know more than Johnson and Sunak's spokespeople because this is 25 minutes ago. I'll repeat it

"Spokespeople for the Johnsons and Mr Sunak said they had not been told which event the fines were linked to"

???? Drop the cake defence please, it makes you look daft.

Bear with me here, so let’s say we had a leader who shamelessly shipped off anybody who was a direct threat to his leadership leaving nobody better you’d be in favour of keeping them in power?
Mulhollandmagoo · 12/04/2022 16:36

@AlexaShutUp

Not a tory voter but of course he should resign.

Frankly, we need a general election now.

I agree with this, is there anything at all that can be done to trigger a general election?? We can't go through another two years of this!!

I do think Rishi Sunak will resign, I think he was on the cusp last week when his wife's tax avoidance was made public, Boris....no chance! Its interesting to see the absolute radio silence from the Tory Party right now, no doubt huddled together to plan what bullshit they're going to feed us on the wake of this story breaking.
