Putin lying in state on 9th May is one scenario.

The other is Putin the traitor. Oh, he hates traitors and thinks they deserve to die. A huge PR campaign on the amount of corruption directly caused by Putin. His disclosure as traitor to Russia. The vision of a new Russia with laptops and Nutella.

I'm sure people are working on it. The oligarchs won't like being separated from their the Russian peoples money.

Ukrainian intelligence reports that 13 mobile crematoriums are in operation in the Russia-occupied parts of Mariupol. The Russians started exhuming dead bodies and preventing Ukrainians from burying the recently killed - Russia wants to destroy evidence of genocide of Ukrainians.^

Russian Aerospace Forces reportedly Bombed the Besieged Coastal City of Mariupol with Tupolev Tu-22M Strategic Bombers earlier today, if True this would be the first time that Russian Long-Range Bombers have crossed into Ukrainian Airspace for Operations since the War began.

What are the implications of this? Why havent they been used before? Does Ukraine have the capability to shoot them down?

Here’s the link to the TV programme that @RedToothBrush was talking about yesterday at 09:58

Olga Skabeeva (the host) is on of the main Putin propaganda tubes

Claim on this thread that there are an incredibly high number of dud Russian missiles. If true, interesting reading.

Just read that Boris Johnson has been banned from russia along with Liz Truss and Ben Wallace. Im not sure why but rather than bothering me it just made me laugh at how ridiculous Russia are

borntobequiet · 16/04/2022 11:28

How language is used in languages is really interesting - I find Spanish can be very florid to the English ear if translated literally, for example.

I think Hemingway came in for some criticism for translating too literally, though I never had a problem with it.

⚡️ Overnight missile strike in Kyiv kills at least one person.

Several people were hospitalised and doctors are now fighting for their lives, according to Mayor Vitali Klitschko. The site of the attack hasn't been disclosed for security reasons.

I wasn’t going to show this but feel I have to. Russians booby trapping civilians homes. They pull the pin on grenade, put it in a glass, string it to cabinet so when you open, pulls glass, glass breaks, Kaboom, another innocent dead. Just pure evil.

Re "Unpredictable Consequences" could they be preparing the ground for a false flag "terrorist" attack e.g. a ManPAD attack on a civilian plane in Poland which they could then blame on the West.

That’s quite random and very specific Hmm
BlanketsBanned · 16/04/2022 12:23

I am sure Boris is heartbroken not to be allowed into Russia. If the Russians deny their super ship was sunk and it was the choppy seas and an on board fire then there should be no retaliation from them.

DuncinToffee · 16/04/2022 12:29

It's for his own and our safety that Johnson has been banned from Russia, but it does make Putin look pathetic.

Have Russia banned leaders from other countries?

Just been reading how Wagner was in Bucha, which tallies with the reports that the first Russian soldiers there were more human and when they were moved, the following set of soldiers were bloody awful.

These dreadful booby traps sound right up their street.

There have been reports of booby trapped teddy bears

OMGTTC · 16/04/2022 12:33

I’m fairly sure that Biden, Harris, Pelosi, etc., were banned a couple of weeks ago. I think Jen Psaki may have told journalists that none of them had been planning a holiday to Russia in any case.

Putin can sing in English

if the vocal is mainly him and not another singer, e.g. the keyboard player?
DuncinToffee · 16/04/2022 12:40

It's more than Putin's war now, isn't? But I am sure 'they were just following orders' Angry

Are we saying that Russia just has manpads lying about in Poland which they've managed to smuggle there?
Ijsbear · 16/04/2022 12:49

Ugh. Just realised the aging Solzhenitsyn is not the man he was when he was younger ... ugh.

It's been more than 48hrs since the Moskva sank with 500 people aboard. We still haven't seen any photos/videos of the rescued crew.

What is most stunning we haven't seen a single wife or mother going public about the loss, demanding answers from the Russian government.

I've been covering Russia for 14 and I have seen space for public debate shrinking every year and people getting increasingly scared of speaking out but the level of fear we're seeing now is unmatched.

If you wonder why it's stunning for Russia, please google "Kursk submarine."

Jimmy @jimmysecuk
Apart from a small impromptu wreath laying in Sevastopol and some minor disquiet on Russian social media - nothing.

I wonder if the families are still under the impression the crew has survived?

And revealingly on Russian social media they were turning to the Pentagon for updates on the Moskva's status - as there has been virtually no news from the Russian Ministry of Defence.

K4fkaesque · 16/04/2022 12:51

RTB: Are we saying that Russia just has manpads lying about in Poland which they've managed to smuggle there?

I think it can be assumed that some of these have been captured by Russian forces. There are already multiple Russian videos of captured NLAWS etc. TBH I have no idea how practical it would be transporting something like this across say the Belarus border.

The Russian statement talks about the unpredictable consequences of the West flooding Ukraine with weapons. Other than taking this statement at face value how else would you think that Russia would benefit from it?

Obviously this is a big (probably inaccurate) extrapolation but Russia still claims that Malaysian Airlines flight 17 was downed by Ukraine forces in 2014.

Severodonetsk is suffering a similar fate to Mariupol’s, underscoring Russia’s scorched earth tactics in the Donbas.

Local officials report that Russian attacks have destroyed 70% of Severodonetsk; of the original population of 135,000, only 20,000 remain in the city.
