I don't know how to tag my last thread. Having people from Ukraine staying.
Ours guests arrived yesterday afternoon. 2 mums (sisters) with a toddler each.

The reason I'm crying is this afternoon a delivery was made by someone in our area
of a toddler sized slide and a swing. Some gift cards and letters were posted through our letter box
welcoming them to our town.
All anonymous. I think it might be people from our street(it's quite a long one) so can't narrow it down.

Lovely to read on a cold Sunday afternoon in the USA. So kind. Peace and love to all of you! ❤

ArseInTheCoOpWindow · 03/04/2022 19:11

Similar has happened near me. One host got given a free steam clean of the room her refugees will be in. Plus free furniture which Dh has offered to assemble!

Someone else is hosting toddlers. They’ve been given new toys, clothes, and bedding.

It seems there are so many lovely people in this world. I don’t understand wars, when the majority of the world seem kind and caring,

KaptainKaveman · 03/04/2022 19:13

Nice one OP. Your kindness will mean the world to them x

PestorPeston · 03/04/2022 19:14

Aw bless , are your guests from Ukraine comforting you?

SweetpeasforEasterfeast · 03/04/2022 19:14

@Yoohoo778611
You and your DH are 'Earth Angels"
It brings a tear to my eye that the families feel so safe in your home that they are able to let down their guard and happily be outside without fear. The t.v. reports from their country are devastating. The people can't relax for one minute without fear of being in harms way.

I would imagine your own family will be as blessed with their presence as they will be by being in your home.

Thank you for stepping out of your comfort zone to open your arms and lives to host them.

You are changing the course of history by what you've done...who knows where your kindness will lead. You are imprinting on those precious children that the World can be a happy place and that people can be good. Flowers

That's beautiful

howardmoonseyebrow · 03/04/2022 19:14

That is so lovely 😊

BurgerKingAddict · 03/04/2022 19:15

I thought about the lovely toddler on the slide and swing and it’s made me cry too!

Ellmau · 03/04/2022 19:17

Lovely. I hope your guests get good news about their husbands.

Mouldyfeet · 03/04/2022 19:17

We are still waiting for our guests, visa delays.

People have donated money, clothes, a bike and one of the GP’s I work with made ribbons to sell. It’s been very heartwarming in amongst all the rubbish stuff going on.

DrBrennerFan · 03/04/2022 19:18

Sparks79 · 03/04/2022 19:23

You're amazing. What a wonderful thread. I'm so glad these people have been fortunate enough to have you as host. Brilliant neighbours too! I hope the mums and toddlers settle in well Daffodil

bettertocryinamercedes · 03/04/2022 19:24

We now lovey of you and your town to welcome them here.

I would love to hear more about how they settle in. If it's not too intrusive!

They must be very apprehensive about the future but sounds like they have landed lucky with you.

ladydimitrescu · 03/04/2022 19:24

Two children playing safely in the garden with their mums is something we take for granted everyday, a stark contrast to what they would have witnessed if they had remained in Ukraine.
What a beautiful thing you have done op, there is good left in the world Star

Lalliella · 03/04/2022 19:25

Blub! Sniff! That’s a lovely thing you’re doing OP ❤️

Tinitiny · 03/04/2022 19:25

Gosh this is lovely. And set me off too.

@Yoohoo778611 you don’t say if toddlers are girls or boys? If girls and need anything clothes-wise, message me - I’ve had a massive sort out and have loads of nearly new (and some new) stuff I’ll happily post across.

GremlinDolphin4 · 03/04/2022 19:26

Oh wow yoohoo, thank you for what you are doing and for sharing - we need more news like this.

I can’t remember where it comes from (maybe a film) but I always remember the quote”when a situation seems so bad, always look for the people who are helping, there are always people helping” xxx

JudgeJ · 03/04/2022 19:31

I have a playhouse I'm trying to find a home for if anyone's in West Norfolk.

thehistorymum · 03/04/2022 19:32

That’s so, so lovely! Hope they settle in ok with you! 💞

ellebelli · 03/04/2022 19:34

DGRossetti · 03/04/2022 19:34

I have something in my eye.

Bluetowelsandflannels · 03/04/2022 19:35

Plopping tears here too, that's just so kind and wonderful! Wishing you and your guests all the very best xxxx

SushiShopSearch · 03/04/2022 19:36

How lovely to read. I have tears too. These poor, poor people. Wonderful that you have been able to help. Wish I could do more other than contribute to a relevant charity (lumos for children)
