How did you meet your husband or partner?

I’m in my mid-twenties and I am single and ready to find my future partner or husband. However, I work in a small team so there’s no chance of finding my future husband at work. I don’t think online dating is for me either, and this really limits my options.

I’m wondering how you’ve all met your husbands or partners, because I could do with some inspiration. I would love to hear stories especially if you didn’t meet at uni, work, or online dating.

If you have ideas for how I can meet men, with a view to romance, then please let me know!

Plenty of fish.

@OhWhatFuckeryIsThisNow

I was working as a waitress in a cocktail bar... (Well, a grotty city centre pub.)
That much is true but even then I knew I'd find a much better place either with or without you....🎶😊

I gave up on meeting Mr Right and bought my first home. He lived upstairs, was having a party and came down to invite his new neighbour . We got talking and he invited me for a drink.

One week and a one night stand (I know I know) later we started an on off relationship which in the early days was 90% off 10% on Confused
14 years later we have two DS together and are definately more on then off ha ha

Tinder. Together for almost 5 years now, we were 23 and 24 when we met on there.

At a dance lesson. The group went for a drink later. I had forgotten my shoes so he went back to the dance studio with me to find them. After we left he was in the lane next to me at the traffic lights, he threw a banana through my window with his phone number on it. I rang it a few days layer but it was a wrong number. I didn't see him for a while then he sent me a valentines card but sent it to the wrong house. Eventually we got together when he offered to cook a meal for me. I went to his house and stayed chatting into the early hours. He said I could stay the night so I asked him where would I sleep. He said "in my bed with me". I thought " you'll do for me". Probably too much information but thats our love story and I love it.

He was my martial arts instructor.

poppymaewrite · 29/03/2022 12:33

Thank you all for your stories. Some of them made ne giggle! I think I need to join groups that fit in with my hobbies and interests and be more confident about chatting to men.

Went on an organised adventure type holiday with a friend and he was on the same holiday. There were some singles, some couples, some friends in the group. No romance on the holiday, but stayed in touch and things blossomed. Married 20 years and 3 kids.

Bumpsadaisie · 29/03/2022 14:34

Online dating in 2002, long long long before such a thing was in any way normal or acceptable 🤣🤣🤣

Been together 20 years, married for 16.

OMG in ancient.

Tinder.

Online date approx #3774758 after eleven years of singleness. Nearly didn’t go but we’d agreed to see a film and I thought at least the film might be good. Grin

Through an ex boyfriend Blush They were in a band together. It was the ex who cheated, we got together later.
I was working part time in a bar at the time, it was a fun way to meet new people and definitely easier than at my daytime office job.

SexiestDogWalker · 29/03/2022 14:41

Plenty of fish. Both just looking for friends. Found a lot more together. Been together ten years, married 5, have a 6yo together

Match.com, yes there are some strange people on there but once you get past those you might find somebody!

flashpaper · 29/03/2022 14:58

His mum introduced us when we had both (separately, obviously) had enough with online dating.

DinosaursEatMan · 29/03/2022 15:01

Introduced by a mutual acquaintance, became good friends for several years then started dating.

alwayswrighty · 29/03/2022 15:06

Senior school (same group of friends)

tarheelbaby · 29/03/2022 15:15

I think shared interests outside of work are an important avenue so.

My family is involved in a very niche hobby. He met my dad through this and when now-DH came to our area on business he joined our group.

DSis met hers through mutual friends who were all involved in the local live music scene.

DH's brother met his now ex-wife through their tutor at university who suggested that DBiL should read her thesis from a few years earlier. They were extremely compatible but sadly, disagreement on how to cope with their SN child broke them.

@StiggyZardust

At work. I liked the look of him, so left my phone number on his windscreen.
I absolutely love the kahoonas on this! ✌️
pupcakes · 29/03/2022 15:26

I absolutely love the 'number on a banana' story!
