A horse, an actual horse, complete with carriage outside my house and secured it to my drainpipe!

Did you drunk order it on Ebay?

Owl55 · 26/03/2022 20:34

Is your name Cinderella?

crosstalk · 26/03/2022 20:51

Definitely a trotter and its racing carriage. Parts of the A27 do have warning notices about not racing on a particularly raceworthy bit in West Sussex. Especially up to the gypsy/traveller fair in Hampshire. I once saw a pony and trap at a petrol station nearby - with owner going in for a coke.

Keep us up to date OP - just don't bridle at all the comments. Hooves have thought it?

Justheretoseemnormal · 26/03/2022 21:07

Why am I only just seeing this post.

Crying 😂

ALongHardWinter · 26/03/2022 21:09

Omg that's brilliant Grin

Tuskanini · 26/03/2022 21:14

Why are we getting everything EXCEPT a clear photo of the whole thing?

QuebecBagnet · 26/03/2022 21:28

I’d be a bit annoyed. If it gets spooked and tries to take off I would wager the horse is stronger than your downpipe and yank it off.

skodadoda · 26/03/2022 21:31

@Cab65

Well I came out of my house once and there was a camel tied to a tree opposite and no I don’t live in Egypt, I had a few very funny moments then I realised the circus was setting up on some nearby waste ground.
I was teaching in Lincoln and at lunchtime saw an elephant being walked along the street near my school. When I told my colleagues they tested me for a fever 🤣
SchadenfreudePersonified · 26/03/2022 21:32

Ring the police and tell them someone has abandoned a horse outside your home.

QuebecBagnet · 26/03/2022 21:35

@skodadoda you must have taught at the same school as my mum….south park?

MuggleMadness · 26/03/2022 21:36

@Marylou62

I so want to join in with the puns but I'm useless.. I'll just enjoy yours.. My DD used to bring her 16 hands horse into our garden.. We live on an estate.. All the neighbours used to come for a stroke...
My neighbour comes for a stroke too, no matter how often I tell him 'no'
TiredyMcTired · 26/03/2022 21:42

@TarpaulinEyes

Do you think the owner might be called Fanny Gallop?
OMG that’s had me crying laughing 😂
Gill61 · 26/03/2022 22:42

Is it still there

Sandra2010 · 26/03/2022 22:57

There's a pic on the internet somewhere of a horse & cart parked up outside one of our local pubs. On the (wide) path, standing there quite calmly. We still never found out whether you can get done for drink driving a horse and cart.

LoisLane66 · 26/03/2022 23:36

It's for trotting. Travellers have races with horses pulling the sulky.

Wife2Frog · 26/03/2022 23:38

I so want this to be true 🤞🏽

LoisLane66 · 26/03/2022 23:39

This is it. I've seen lots of them up in N Yorks and Cumbria.

Someone has parked…

This is the actual best post I've ever seen on Mumsnet, and I've been here since 2016!

Most impressed by the horse drawing, HorsePark

Horses tethered to drainpipes started in 2003. Still funny.

@pussycatunpickingcrossesagain

Do you live at number 22...are you Sue??
Brilliant
LifeMovesOn · 27/03/2022 08:05

@Thoosa

OP someone has clearly gifted you a horse. Pop it on your back lawn and enjoy!

But don’t look it in the mouth. Wink

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 27/03/2022 08:56

Is it still there this morning @HorsePark?

I randomly have a reasonable knowledge of the Control of Horses Act 2015 which is about how to go about removing horses that are illegally put on your land. Although if it’s a decent trotting pony, it could be worth £10Ks.

DrDetriment · 27/03/2022 08:58

Travellers. No responsible horse owner would tie their horse to a drain pipe and leave it.

Ostagazuzulum · 27/03/2022 09:07

We need an update! Please?!

HorsePark · 27/03/2022 09:27

It’s not still there. After they took it round the back (see update on page 8) it was there another hour or so before they left. It never had any water or anything. No idea how often ponies need drink.

I’d love to post a better photo but it would be too identifying - anyone could work out exactly where I live.
