Running around like a blue arsed fly visiting my mother, DH mother and an aunt who will feel sad if nobody visits.

All three live in opposite directions, so we will be driving about lots.

I never get to relax on Mother's Day, but I am very grateful I have the opportunity to spend time with these women. I know my own mother, now 76, would give anything just to spend another minute with her mother.

We’ve just come back from a skiing trip which was awesome but I’m tired so we’re going to go for a leisurely cycle in the morning and in the afternoon DP has booked our fave dim sum restaurant with the DC.

Then we’ll come home and enjoy the baked goods/desserts we’ve been making this evening. Really looking forward to it.

Ps - thoughts to those that have lost their mothers

gotalittlebug · 27/03/2022 07:24

DH is complaining how tired he is but I feel ZERO guilt not offering to get up this morning with 11 mo DS 😇 I've been brought a cup of tea, card and special cookie. I have a cold so there aren't any big plans here!

LetsGoCrazyPurpleBanana · 27/03/2022 08:03

So sorry to those who've lost their mums 😔💐

Today I'll be having a quiet day and a nice Chinese takeaway tonight 🙂

MrsDThomas · 27/03/2022 08:32

Nothing going on in my house on this day. I absolutely loathe it.

My mam died 14 years ago and it still sucks. Force-fed cards and flowers in supermarkets.

What’s wrong with showing appreciation and love during the other days?

Mommabear20 · 27/03/2022 08:34

Nothing as DH ' forgot' so he's at work and I'm home with 2 under 2 who are all out of whack because of the clocks altering 🤦‍♀️

thirdistheonewiththehairychest · 27/03/2022 08:40

Nothing. My dh and 11yo dd are away on a fun weekend away.

I'm at home with my other 2 dc who have covid. They're 9yo and 4yo and have got no idea it's mothers day. 9yo currently pestering me to make panckes.

BorderlineHappy · 27/03/2022 08:49

In bed now ,dp brought me breakfast in bed.
And it was lovely.

My sons gf came over last night and brought me wine and chocolates.Was not expecting that,so it was lovely;

cliffdiver · 27/03/2022 08:50

DH running local half marathon this morning.

DDs just made me their first (of many, hopefully) cup of tea and I've opened some lovely presents. Later they'll be making me a smoked salmon bagel.

When DH is home later this morning, he'll pick up MIL and my Grandma, who are coming for dinner (steak pie, mash and veg).

This afternoon / evening DDs, DH and I will watch a film.

March has been a very busy month, so looking forward to a relaxing day.

cliffdiver · 27/03/2022 08:51

I can't see my own DMum, as both her and my DDad have COVID Sad

OopsImDoingItAgain · 27/03/2022 08:54

Thinking of my baby born sleeping on Monday. Trying to keep it together for my toddler. Wishing my milk would go away and stop hurting so I can cuddle him properly Sad

That's dreadful Sad I hope you can find some joy with your toddler? Do you have any plans to do anything?

@TeddyTrucks

Here's an interesting one, and not exactly one to be proud of - it will be my second day as an inpatient in rehab.

I'd forgotten about Mothers Day being this weekend until my elder daughter reminded me, but to be honest we never really do anything special per se, we've always tended to have a meal out the following week when it's much quieter. I'm trying to look on the positive side of everything as much as possible - it's one day after all.

@TeddyTrucks 100% you should be proud of yourself. I speak from personal experience (not me directly) and the amount of bravery and strength it takes to get into rehab and stay well afterwards is immense. Good luck with it and well done. My ds is 16. He has a card and gift for me. He's working at his Sunday job later so we'll call to mums about 10am with our cards and gifts. We'll stay for a visit. I did my mum an afternoon tea yesterday which was lovely. Dh works nights, up about 12 so we'll probably go shopping then.

I am so sorry Flowers, no mum should ever have to go through that.

We are going to my in-laws. It’s the first Mother’s Day since DH died. My SIL helped my DC get presents for me, not because I particularly wanted anything but because DC would be upset not to be able to give me something.

cigarettesNalcohol · 27/03/2022 09:46

Opened small present and card in bed this morning with cup of tea. Will be in the garden planting various bits today.

Plantsandpuddlesuits · 27/03/2022 10:01

I've been brought a cup of tea and cards and lovely presents, a tea cosy some lovely soaps from my older ones and drawings from my little ones.

About to get up and make everyone pancakes.

Day in the garden can't wait, building a new mud kitchen for the children as the old one got damaged in the storms, planting some seeds etc. Will get properly dressed later for us as all to go to my parents around 4pm for a roasts can't wait, we saw MIL in the week.

Home around 7 hopefully, children to bed then wine TV and an early night

LittleDiaries · 27/03/2022 10:07

All plans cancelled. Had been planning a day out & picnic with DH & DC but started to feel unwell yesterday and have tested positive for covid. Feeling v rough. Just drifting between bed and sofa. DD says she doesn't feel well now too. Sad

ThisIsNotARealAvo · 27/03/2022 10:11

I've been for a run and DC have given me some cards and little presents. We are going out for lunch at a Chinese dim sum place and then this afternoon I've got quite a bit of work to do. DC are 12 and 14 and adopted so
Mother's Day is always quite low key for us.

echobeachsomeday · 27/03/2022 10:27

@OopsImDoingItAgain I'm so so sorry x Thanks

BorderlineHappy · 27/03/2022 11:29

@OopsImDoingItAgain the biggest hug to you 💐
I'm so sorry for your loss.

OrlandointheWilderness · 27/03/2022 11:52

I'm looking after puppy all day. Cards and pressie from DC and I'll see my BF later for an Indian.

upinaballoon · 27/03/2022 11:59

I went to church and they gave me some flowers and I have cut the bottoms from the stems and they are steeping in water, and when 'North and South' has ended I am going to put them on a grave which contains my mother's ashes and the ashes of a loving aunt who treated us in a motherly way, and the skeleton of a grandmother I never knew. I might have a quiet word with them all while I do the flowers.

BakewellGin1 · 27/03/2022 12:05

DS1 has just played his football match and they won so the mood is good.
DS2 is having a picnic with his toys and eating the contents of the fridge

I'm having a cuppa then we are off to the park while the sun is shining.

DH working so Chinese for tea tonight.
