Going out for brunch then taking them to their dads as I'm working late afternoon 😕

freshcarnation · 25/03/2022 11:49

@SparklingLime It's ok. 93 years old and end stage dementia. It's a relief for the family and a blessing for mum.

aibutohavethisusername · 25/03/2022 11:51

Working if I’m negative - on day 4 now - nothing if I’m still positive.

SquigglePigs · 25/03/2022 11:52

My in-laws are up for the weekend so cooking a nice brunch. Got a nice pudding as a treat as we don't usually have them. DD is three so no other major plans although DH has said take away of my choice for dinner.

Smarshian · 25/03/2022 11:54

Thinking of either a NT or beach for a nice walk/chill then fish and chips for tea. Yum!

notacooldad · 25/03/2022 11:54

Going for a walk up Roseberry Topping.

slavetothekittens · 25/03/2022 12:01

Flowers for those who have lost their lovely mums. I lost mine several years ago and it still hurts like hell at times.

I'll be working on Sunday but my daughter will make a fuss of me with present and card and we'll have a takeaway for tea. Hoping my son and girlfriend will get over tomorrow and we can have lunch out somewhere nice.

Athena51 · 25/03/2022 12:02

Adult DS coming to stay, takeaway tomorrow night and roast dinner on Sunday. DS is good with cards etc but having him to stay for the weekend is the real treat. I'm really looking forward to it.

Going for a walk up Roseberry Topping.
Love going up there. It'll be packed. Do you live locally?
shumway · 25/03/2022 12:09

Taking Mum out for a carvery.

No but I’m looking forward to going.
My son asked me for a list of walks I’ve been meaning to do but have never got round to doing. He is taking me along with his girlfriend and his dad!

Sn0tnose · 25/03/2022 12:10

My mum is coming to ours, as is my DB and SiL with their new baby, so it’ll be her first Mother’s Day. We’ll spoil them both and do a buffet lunch so they can easily eat and cuddle the baby at the same time.

ssd · 25/03/2022 12:11

@Aroundtheworldin80moves

Normal day as we've got a lot on.

I was supposed to get a surprise breakfast but DD2 (9yo) can't keep a secret if you paid her.

This made me smileGrin
TeddyTrucks · 25/03/2022 12:18

Here's an interesting one, and not exactly one to be proud of - it will be my second day as an inpatient in rehab.

I'd forgotten about Mothers Day being this weekend until my elder daughter reminded me, but to be honest we never really do anything special per se, we've always tended to have a meal out the following week when it's much quieter. I'm trying to look on the positive side of everything as much as possible - it's one day after all.

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 25/03/2022 12:30

Nothing special though a fabulous local lady will be delivering me a special Mothering Sunday tea that I hope to enjoy while sitting in the sun 😎
Other than that more tidying the garden I expect.

MinnieMountain · 25/03/2022 12:37

Unusually for us we’re going out for lunch. It’s MIL’s 70th birthday that day and that’s what she wants to do.

I’ll have coffee in bed and whatever DH and DS have come up with. Normally we say what we want to do for special days but I’ve told DH I’m fed up of being the planner for the family.

You'll enjoy it. Fabulous views.
ComDummings · 25/03/2022 12:39

Taking MIL out for lunch. Just a crappy chain restaurant that the kids love, but I’m looking forward to it.

Indoctro · 25/03/2022 12:40

Husband is away working

Collecting my mum at 9am and going to local park to watch my son do a running race then we going to a greasy soon type cafe in a old bus for lunch as my kids love it and my mum always wanted to try it as it's a bit of a local legend where we stay

Then going to a garden centre for coffee and cake.

That will be mine/ my mums day.

mindutopia · 25/03/2022 12:41

I think it was going to be a walk and a swim and picnic lunch. But dd has COVID, I think I'm getting it too, so may just send dh and ds out to leave us alone after I get some coffee in bed!

ShadowPuppets · 25/03/2022 12:43

On Saturday night my sister is babysitting toddler DD and so DH and I are off for a night away (nothing fancy - Pizza Express and a Premier Inn!) as our final grown up time before DS arrives in 7 weeks Smile

So Sunday will be a lie in - bliss! - and then just a normal day as we’ll have eaten out the previous night. Will drop a bunch of flowers and a card in with my mum over the course of the weekend and I’m hoping DH will have got his act together with a card from DD but otherwise not doing anything else.

Don’t forget it’s the clock change too so anyone getting a ‘lie in’ - if you’d usually get up on a lie in day at 9am it really ought to be 10am this weekend Grin

Cecilia2016 · 25/03/2022 12:43

Church in the morning
My children are Ordering Nando’s for lunch
Work night shift

gogohm · 25/03/2022 12:45

Don't know, dc are at university, might go and see Dp's mum but logistically challenging to get her places these days. Might go to the pub with dp in the evening for dinner once the families have mostly left

gogohm · 25/03/2022 12:48

@Juniper68

Must be hard to hearing from dc knowing they are in let's say "sensitive" waters. Next year dd will deploy for the first time

KingscoteStaff · 25/03/2022 12:49

The 4 of us are taking my mum out for a posh curry lunch!
