@holliem91 I had a dream about Putin too Confused he’s getting into our brains.

AgnesWestern · 19/03/2022 21:58

@PaperTyger

I completely respect your opinion, I just feel the opposite way.

Can I ask though, only because I’m curious, I read all these posts saying “we” meaning NATO should go in and do ‘something’, but what would we actually DO?

PaperTyger · 19/03/2022 21:59

I had a very very clear dream about bombs falling and my house being destroyed.

The last time I had such a clear dream, that was so real that I had lung cancer, I gave up smoking.

Why panic that the talk on here has gone nuclear though> it s the very nub of this problem we are in?

PaperTyger · 19/03/2022 22:00

AgnesWestern

I dont understand>

You think that if Putin did not have Nukes we would all still be standing by watching this slaughter

shreddednips · 19/03/2022 22:01
@holliem91 I had a dream about Putin too Confused he’s getting into our brains.
So did I, he was riding on a lawnmower.

AgnesWestern · 19/03/2022 22:03

@PaperTyger

I’m not sure, I’m leaning towards yes, because WW3 even without nukes would be pretty devastating. Many, many more people would die/be injured/paralysed etc.

I don’t know what the answer is, but I think what we’re doing at the moment is all we can do for now, sanctions and providing weapons/military aid, humanitarian aid, housing refugees and donating money too.

MagicFox · 19/03/2022 22:04

@shreddednips Jeez, after the earlier reference to "erotic imaginings" I'm starting to worry about what I might dream tonight 🤢

@Ijsbear

He's probably trying to ensure their safety. He's got enemies, some of whom are highly ruthless and I wouldn't be surprised if he himself has kept some people in line by threatening their families.

This may be fanciful but I'm told that it's close to reality that bioweopons based on an individual's genetic code are not that far off, possibly why Macron refused to take the Russian Sputnik vaccine. Perhaps Putin is rather careful about his family because of that too. If someone got a sample of a blood relative's blood, could that be used to manufacture a bioweopon? (If I'm off with the fairies, tell me!)

Wasn’t that the plot of the latest Bond film- genetically specific bioweapons?

Isn’t it a shame that the people who develop these biological and other weapons, both real and (hopefully) fictional, don’t turn their efforts to helping people instead? Like finding a cure for all cancers

holliem91 · 19/03/2022 22:07

@PaperTyger

You have the same mindset as my father. He said to me if it was down to him WW3 would have started by now.

I'm just glad neither you or my father has any say in decision making right now.

I'm leaving it there.

Shuuu · 19/03/2022 22:07

@PaperTyger

Are the Russian people scared I wonder of NATO or the west aiming a bomb at the Kremlin?

Many people are now saying - Putin has got his nuclear kit ready so should we.

But - its putins state of mind and who is he talking to thats crucial

I would imagine Russia fear nuclear threats from the west. Especially USA. We knew the west fear Russian nuclear attacks so makes perfect sense it’s been build into Russian ppl they are at risk of nuclear war. We all see what our leaders want us to see. To some degree everyone is brain washed.
PaperTyger · 19/03/2022 22:08

Ok @AgnesWestern I think I understand. I dont think however if we went in it would last long at all - and I think Putin would be driven back pretty fast.

I am really hoping I have no erotic dream about Putin tonight

shreddednips · 19/03/2022 22:10

I really can't apologise enough for putting the words Putin and erotic in the same post 😆

MagicFox · 19/03/2022 22:12

Well, we'll all be back tomorrow morning to let you know how this effected our dreams (or nightmares!) 😂

^^ Really how so>

I have said - if it were not for the nuclear armageddon threat holding us back surely we would have been in>

Not that I want us to go in? Maybe I do - maybe I dont I said surely we - the west would have done?

IF nuclear threat isnt holding us back , then what is? Because putins forces are no match for nato?

I mean - the logic here is all skewed?

Put it another way - if Putin attacks Poland - what would you want then Hollie?

BeckyWithTheGoodHair010101 · 19/03/2022 22:13

@Onceuponatimeinalandfaraway please could you DM me your notes 📝 Smile

PaperTyger · 19/03/2022 22:14

But the west has let putin run absolute riot for decades because we are scared of a nuclear threat - but he keeps provoking and pushing us - poking us - doesnt he fear nuclear threat?

TargusEasting · 19/03/2022 22:15

Putin's logic is really flawed. His focus has been on Nato and escalation when he should really be worried about Lisbeth Salander.

PaperTyger · 19/03/2022 22:16

When I do an @ it changes on me as I send it?

Usually myself or Magic fox?

Onceuponatimeinalandfaraway · 19/03/2022 22:16

Abductions: they’ll be used to show the alleged 2.5million refugees who fled to Russia according to putin. Can’t remember where I saw that but I did wonder how he would manage to fake that.

I also saw on Twitter that a journalist had been kidnapped by Russians. Again wasn’t a verified source but given they’ve attempted to kill sky team and have killed other western journalists I’m inclined to believe it.

AgnesWestern · 19/03/2022 22:16

@PaperTyger I’m not sure it would really help the Ukrainians, but maybe I’m wrong. It might take the heat off them briefly, but then NATO’s attention would be elsewhere i.e. their own lands and armies. Whereas from where we are now, we can focus solely on helping them, albeit from afar.
I hope I’m making sense.

I very much hope I don’t have an ‘erotic’ dream about him either Confused

Yeahthat · 19/03/2022 22:17

That's not the gist I got from my research, I'll try to find the link to the documents. Hopefully I'm remembering correctly, but I think the consensus was that the response would be proportionate, with attempts made to stop the situation getting more out of control. This would make sense, because NATO launching everything it has at Russia in response to a limited strike with few casualties would be completely disproportionate. Of course, the risk would be that NATO would fire a similar weapon back to show strength, at a similar target, and then things start to ramp up

@shreddednips

Very interesting response, thanks. I'd be interested to see the documents if you find the links.

Also to emphasise for anyone that is worrying - no one believes this is likely or imminent. It's only being discussed in relation to a programme, which also apparently concluded that the possibility is remote.

Shuuu · 19/03/2022 22:20

My point is that both parties obviously fear nuclear war. There’s a reason he has a nuclear bunker. I agree the west have stepped back & watched him build up his nuclear collection, not only that they’ve watched him develop new war materials. Those that have been used in the last 24hours. However we do not know what weapons we have, perhaps we have new, more effective weapons too. Who knows! There’s 2 reasons some Russians are in support of Putin, one because they fear him or two, they believe he is saving Ukraine. Brainwashed
AgnesWestern · 19/03/2022 22:21

I can’t find who said about the brainwashing and the nuclear threats, but I’m starting to think that way too. It’s almost like it’s become the new ‘fear’ to keep us engaged and to be fair it is working.

I do agree with one thing Russia said though…nobody has used a nuclear bomb, except the US. That did make me think I must admit.

PaperTyger · 19/03/2022 22:22

Who started the Putin and erotic in the same sentence?

I think who ever it is is THE MOLE...trying to turn us to Putin through means of devious subliminal messaging Shock

No problem, I'll have a look. Yes, I really hope I haven't made anyone anxious. I'm one of those people who finds it helps to find out as much as possible about the things I find scary, but I know that's not the best approach for everyone. I still think nuclear escalation is extremely unlikely.
