Report in the Guardian that she has had her passport returned and that a negotiating team are in place.

Too early for celebrations but I have got my fingers crossed behind my back.

She's may be on her way to the airport but until she's on the plane and it's in the sky i wont believe she is actually on her way home.

RoseslnTheHospital · 16/03/2022 10:24

I hope it's true, and that she isn't further detained at the airport. I don't think I can believe it until she is in the air or landed in the UK. Her husband and daughter must be beside themselves with all kinds of conflicting emotions.

doodleygirl · 16/03/2022 10:25

In the 70’s they ordered and paid for defence equipment, we did not deliver and did not return the money. There is, I’m sure a lot more to this. Nazanin became the bargaining tool, it didn’t help that Boris is such a buffoon.

I have everything crossed for her and her family, it would be such wonderful news if she was released.

Phos · 16/03/2022 10:26

If she does get home, I hope she and her family get the support they are going to need.

Topseyt · 16/03/2022 10:26

BBC has just reported that she that the airport in Teheran on her way back to the UK

I do hope so. I'll be delighted if that is finally happening.

ENoeuf · 16/03/2022 10:26

I hope they are allowed a private reunion and don’t feel forced to be photographed or give interviews before they want to.

Wolfiefan · 16/03/2022 10:27

Oh I hope so.

Killermontstreet · 16/03/2022 10:27

Felt like crying when I heard this. Really hope this all ahead and she finally gets home.

garlicandsapphires · 16/03/2022 10:27

OMG this is incredible news if true!!! please please let it be true!!

Phos · 16/03/2022 10:28

@NarcissistsEyebrows

Wouldn’t have put it past them. But no, the article I had read made it sound like it was separate from that debt. Don’t blame me for bad journalism.

  1. Thank god
  1. This is clearly linked to our need for some new friends ideally with fossil fuels, or on the good side of those who might sell them to us, right?
Mumdiva99 · 16/03/2022 10:28

Thinking of her and her family and praying it goes smoothly.

MoiraNotRuby · 16/03/2022 10:31

Totally agree, it is a celebration for us well wishers but a lot more complicated for the people going through it.

This.

Godspeed Nazanin

stickygotstuck · 16/03/2022 10:32

Fantastic news!

Like PPs, waiting with baited breath for that plane to actually land back in the UK and both Nazanin and Anoush are safely home.

All the best for their recovery from this long ordeal 💐.

stickygotstuck · 16/03/2022 10:33

Anoosheh, sorry.

Spudlet · 16/03/2022 10:34

God, I hope this works out for both Nazanin and Anoosheh. Please, no more politics with their lives!

Thoosa · 16/03/2022 10:35

I keep thinking of that scene in Argo where they all celebrate as it’s announced drinks can now be served on the plane (meaning they’re now out of Iranian airspace).

Peridot1 · 16/03/2022 10:37

Amazing news. Really hope it is all as it seems and they land safely.

AlexaShutUp · 16/03/2022 10:37

I'm so glad that she is on her way home, but it's going to be a very challenging period of adjustment for all of them. I really hope that they get the support that they need to work their way through it all, and that she is able to rebuild her family relationships. That poor woman and her family have been through so much.

Thoosa · 16/03/2022 10:37

Please though, so many of you are claiming to have “baited breath” it’s giving me strange visual images.

“Bated breath” (as in “abatement”) is the term.

Yes, on a personal level it is amazing news and I will be delighted when she sets foot on British soil.

On a national level it appears we have just swapped one dictatorship for another.

loislovesstewie · 16/03/2022 10:40

Crossing everything until she is back in the UK.

RishiRich · 16/03/2022 10:41

Thank goodness for that. I'll have my fingers firmly crossed until she's out of Iranian airspace.

Pedallleur · 16/03/2022 10:42

boris will prob claim it's his diplomacy that has resulted in this. the cheque for £400 million thats 40 years overdue is incidental
