Report in the Guardian that she has had her passport returned and that a negotiating team are in place.

Too early for celebrations but I have got my fingers crossed behind my back.

We owe them £400m from decades back, it's been a massive source of rancour between us and the Iranians.

Nazanin and a guy called Anoosheh Ashoori are basically state hostages, though the Tory government have baulked at actually calling them that.

I don’t know how she’s kept going, incredible fortitude.
I just hope that the authorities don’t find another trumped up charge to extend her imprisonment.
I also hope bloody Boris keeps his mouth shut.

I’ve been googling about that money. We really should be paying it back. I get that there’s now sanctions but that money was owed before then so really of the U.K. govt had pushed the issue they could have argued for being allowed to pay it back. Guess it suited them not to!

It feels such a fragile thing to hope for, like others, I don't want to jinx anything, but omg please let her be reunited with her family.

What money is owed? And how do we know if it has been paid back recently? And also what has this got to do with Nazanin?

Her poor family have had their hopes raised before. Glad to hear that debt has been paid, hope it's true.

I really want it to be good news but I keep thinking they will invent another charge.

Iran media are reporting its been paid but nowhere has verified that. It’s looking a bit more promising but apparently her Iranian passport is now out of date, and she is still at the family home, there hasn’t been an official ‘release’. It’s interesting that Richard Ratcliffe is quiet and Tulip Saddiqi is also cautious.

This is so wonderful. The news has been consistently awful lately and to hear this is amazing.

God this is amazing. Please let them both have a safe journey home. Can't imagine how Nazanin is feeling, and Gabriella, Richard, Richard's sister... and also how emotional this must be for Nazanin's parents. With her freedom comes uncertainty too.
