Report in the Guardian that she has had her passport returned and that a negotiating team are in place.

Too early for celebrations but I have got my fingers crossed behind my back.

Gosh no, I think it’s a little bit of light in the darkness of the world today and of course means the whole world to her and her family @SockFluffInTheBath

RedPanda901 · 16/03/2022 17:59

@DesertStorms

Apparently her parents went to the airport in Iran with her but weren’t allowed in the same room.
That's so sad
saddowizca · 16/03/2022 18:01

Such wonderful news - nice to have a cry about good news for a change.

SockFluffInTheBath · 16/03/2022 18:01

I’ve just googled Michael Bay and it makes complete sense now. Maybe I should have done that first Hmm Grin

I was just looking at the projected flight path. I'm no flightradar expert. Pleased to hear they're not flying back over! It just gave me the jitters, thanks for the heads up![/quote]
It can be a bit misleading! Out over the Gulf now among lots of other planes.Smile

Satsumaeater · 16/03/2022 18:05

@Saucery

Oh give over, satsuma 🙄
Give over what? It's perfectly rational to say that Iran cannot be trusted and that they have blown up a civilian airline in recent memory for no reason. I wasn't thinking they'd blow her plane up and I am sure she will come home safely but I would definitely hope that the flight route goes elsewhere.
Titsflyingsouth · 16/03/2022 18:05

Thank Goodness, they have landed in Oman 🇴🇲. It must be an enormous relief to the family that they are out of Iranian airspace....

Satsumaeater · 16/03/2022 18:06

And having looked at Flight Radar again, I see they are steering clear of Iranian airspace so we can all breathe a sigh of relief and stop sniping.

Your a bit late to the party, they've left and are on their way to the UK
AKASammyScrounge · 16/03/2022 18:16

I'm also touched by Nazanin's husband Richard. He has fought hard for his wife and never given up. His heart was in his eyes today while he was being interviewed.I hope the reunion brings them everything they have waited so long for.

TheOnlyMrsMac · 16/03/2022 18:16

Nazanin must have had one hell of a day with the Iranian Revolutionary Guard until she was allowed to fly out. The BBC coverage earlier today included that she'd been made to take part in propaganda and Richard said there had been some 'scary conversations' about her 'behaving herself' when she got home.

SaveWaterDrinkGin · 16/03/2022 18:17

She en route to Brize Norton and is expected around 10.30pm tonight.

That's heartbreaking
DesertStorms · 16/03/2022 18:27

Yes, especially as she’ll probably never see them again.

Neilsfavouritechilli · 16/03/2022 18:28

Let not all get snippy with each other, two families are set to be reunited today/tomorrow (when the flight lands). It's heartwarming news and I wish the best to them and their loved ones.

theDudesmummy · 16/03/2022 18:31

@OnlyClothes What's "baffling" about her daughter? I don't getvyour point at all?

theDudesmummy · 16/03/2022 18:32

Why would she not see her parents again?

viques · 16/03/2022 18:34

Been out all day, but what wonderful news to come home to.

Latest pic of Nazarin tweeted by Tulip Siddiq.

Somehow I doubt it's a coincidence that she is dressed in the colours of the Ukrainian flag.

She’s been living at her parents house since March 2020 with an electronic tag and had to remain within 300 metres of the house. She was able to make video calls for several hours a day to her husband and daughter.

So she will have been able to say goodbye to her parents just not at the airport.

Papyrus · 16/03/2022 18:39

@theDudesmummy

Why would she not see her parents again?
Iran requires an exit visa for citizens to leave the country. Who knows if that would be granted to Nazanin's parents. I expect that the Iranian government will hold her parents' well-being over her head to a certain extent, limiting what she can say about her imprisonment in public.

Nazanin will certainly never be returning to Iran, that's for certain.

I can't help remembering John McCarthy's girlfriend who also fought hard for many years to secure his release. They split up after he returned home. 🙁

ApolloandDaphne · 16/03/2022 18:42

It is quite overwhelming being able to track the flight she is on.

I imagine she has made peace with not being able to see her parents again and they have talked this through whilst she was with them. She needs to be home safely with her husband and her daughter.

I wish them all the happiness in the world.

THEDEACON · 16/03/2022 18:46

Delighted she is in the air now

Igotjelly · 16/03/2022 18:47

It’s unfortunately very common for couples to split after one has suffered such significant trauma. Fingers crossed theirs is a happy ending/beginning
