Report in the Guardian that she has had her passport returned and that a negotiating team are in place.

Too early for celebrations but I have got my fingers crossed behind my back.

I'm so happy for her and her family now she's come home.

Time to start making new memories and plans with their/her family.

FinallyFluid · 16/03/2022 16:00

Anyone remember holding their breath when John Mc Carthy and Brian Keenan were released. ?

Lesperance · 16/03/2022 16:01

She has one daughter, who can be seen in one of the BBC clips posted earlier where Richard Ratcliffe is talking about the release.

Not in the same way, because we had lots less news, but yes, it was similar wasn't it?
Papyrus · 16/03/2022 16:04

I think the flight was delayed to 20:10, because Iran kept them at the airport longer than expected. It's currently 20:03 in Muscat, so hopefully they should be in the air in the next few minutes.

TodayWeShark · 16/03/2022 16:07

Brize Norton is a smart move to keep the mobs away for when they land; also has comfortable housing if needed for the next few days and great hospital care.

FinallyFluid · 16/03/2022 16:07

I was a total news hound in those days, my husband said he knew I was beyond help when we finally got to New York for a weekend and we walked into Time Square and the first thing I said was OMG they are about to impeach Clinton.

All those billboards and that was the only one that jumped out at me. Grin

BoreOfWhabylon · 16/03/2022 16:07

Imagine the relief when she is in the air for the final leg of her journey home, knowing that Iran Government cannot snatch her back again.

I hope she is able to get a few hours sleep

still can't think of it without welling up, yes.

I hope this pair get more privacy. It's not helpful to be paraded around when you have endured trauma. It might make good tv and politics, but it's not appropriate.

@Snoopsnoggysnog

Actually to those saying don’t send cards - I read an interview with Richard a while ago and it said when she had short releases from prison she was able to read cards sent to her via Amnesty.
Amnesty would probably be better then.

Absolutely.

This post made me remember Terry Waite too, who is in his 80s now.

Is anybody else reevaluating Liz Truss, who I'd not had a very high opinion of before?
Is it significant that it took a woman to get this done?

Porcupineintherough · 16/03/2022 16:16

I think it took the payment of some or all of a 400 million pound debt to get this done.

Pretty sure Liz Truss wasn't the determining factor and here and our need for Middle Eastern oil was. But whatever gets the poor woman home.

I am actually, much as it pains me to do it. Tulip Siddiq was very complimentary about her on R4 at lunch time.
BoreOfWhabylon · 16/03/2022 16:17

Onward flight now scheduled to depart at 2030, so less than 15 minutes to go...

She was, wasn't she? That's part of the reason why I'm reevaluating her.

Yes, me too. It was really refreshing to hear.
CaveMum · 16/03/2022 16:24

Flight now pushed back to 2050.

idiotfacelicker · 16/03/2022 16:24

The minute Truss was given authority to hand over the £400m she had an open goal. Although saying that, it's not beyond my imagination that Truss could still miss with an open goal so there is that.

If it was as easy as that why has it taken 43 years to do it?
idiotfacelicker · 16/03/2022 16:25

Because we need something from them now.
