Feeling a bit rubbish on all fronts atm but I’ve just finished a bowl of soup with a cheese toastie to dip in and now I feel like I’ve been hugged

What’s your go to comfort meal when you feel a bit rubbish?
Mine strangely all seem to include toast

Tinned chicken in white sauce with cheesy mash

Or homemade pumpkin and turmeric soup with lots of hot buttered toast.

Coleman's tuna pasta bake mix.
Reminds me of a cold rainy evening at home with my mum when i was about 6, waiting for dad to get home from work so we could eat. I sat watching the cheese bubble through the oven door. Absolutely nothing significant happened, just a very random nostalgic memory I get.

Bacon, mushroom and Parmesan gnocchi. Made in under 10 min with one pan.

Beans on Toast!

5 sliced up hotdog sausages, cooked in with 100g pasta shapes then drained and mixed with a slug of double cream, a teaspoon of Dijon mustard and 80g of grated cheese. Melts together into the most delicious cheese sauce.

Kedgeree. With proper yellow smoked fish and lads of black pepper.

Ham and cheese toasties with Heinz chicken soup or a pile of penne stirred through with butter and grated Parmesan. Comfort on a plate

Macaroni cheese or pasta carbonara

DH makes a recipe from The Greeen Roasting Tin book I think. It's vine tomatoes cooked with orzo pasta. Simple but comforting.

Egg and chips if just feeling like I need a hug. ‘Egg-in-a-cup’ if a bit poorly. Both with white bread and butter and a cup of tea.

Tomato soup with toast and butter, creamy mashed potatoes, rice pudding homemade, fresh bread and butter

Tuna pasta with loads of cheese.
Big jacket potato with tuna mayo.
Basically carbs.

Cheesy mash and spaghetti

Crisp bacon , sweetheart cabbage and champ

Toast with marmalade or spaghetti bolognaise or newly discovered veg, lentil, bean & cheese & bean bake mmmm

Bread and milk Boiling hot milk white bread crusts included torn to big chunks and sprinkled with granulated sugar in a big claggy bowl My kids are horrified whenever I eat it

Two soft boiled eggs and marmite soldiers.

Spaghetti hoops with mini sausages in a bowl, white toast with real butter cut into small triangles around the edges.

Fish finger sandwiches on white bread with plenty of butter

Fish fingers chips and beans or tuna with shell pasta tinned tomatoes and cheese sauce
