Feeling a bit rubbish on all fronts atm but I’ve just finished a bowl of soup with a cheese toastie to dip in and now I feel like I’ve been hugged Smile

What’s your go to comfort meal when you feel a bit rubbish?

Egg n chips

RewildingAmbridge · 14/03/2022 23:35

If I'm ill cream of tomato soup with a cheese sandwich, bread toasted and buttered but just grated cheese inside not melted, the soup will do that and also you get cheesy bits in the soup from the fall out. Add some lucozade on the side and you'll be right as rain.
Other than that curry, always curry, sometimes hot and spicy, sometimes coconutty and creamy, sometimes veg, fish or prawns, sometimes chicken or lamb, but there will never be a day when curry will be suggested as a meal and I will say no I don't fancy it.

CakeWarrior · 14/03/2022 23:44

Cheese and potato pie with baked beans. Comfort and nostalgia on a plate

Fayekrista · 14/03/2022 23:47

jay55 · 15/03/2022 07:58

Cauliflower cheese and bacon

KatnissNeverdone · 15/03/2022 08:06

Tinned ravioli on a baked potato with cheese on top.

cultkid · 15/03/2022 08:06

Pasta in chicken broth with Parmesan and a knob of butter

LemonDrizzles · 15/03/2022 08:37

Mashed potato, nice level of salt, rich warm gravy.

Cheesecake (depends, can't be too sweet)

Dark chocolate cake (again can't be too sweet)

American style eggy waffles, white whipped butter, scrambled eggs, skinny bacon, Canadian maple syrup, side of blueberries and strawberries with yoghurt

Goat's milk caramel latte (or served on ice on hot days)

LemonDrizzles · 15/03/2022 08:37

Also homemade pumpkin pie

LemonDrizzles · 15/03/2022 08:38

Strada ravioli that they discontinued like ten years ago

LemonDrizzles · 15/03/2022 08:39

I agree about crumpets, toasted, butter melting when spreading, strawberry jam also melting when spreading, trying to eat it warm!

Ostryga · 15/03/2022 08:48

Penne with sausage crumbled and fried, double cream, cheese, shit tons of grainy mustard, spinach stirred through.

Heinz tomato soup and a cheese & jalapeño toastie.

Cheesy chips & curry sauce from the chippy.

Mash and gravy.

TwoBigNoisyBoys · 15/03/2022 08:51

Egg and chips if I’m in a rush. Shepherds pie if I have more time.

maddy68 · 15/03/2022 08:53

Macaroni cheese

GETTINGLIKEMYMOTHER · 15/03/2022 08:56

For speed, if it’s just me, plain pasta with lots of grated mature Cheddar on top. (You can keep your Parmesan, thanks.)

Or cheese on toast (mature Cheddar only) with onion and a lot of Worcester sauce once it’s done.

Mamadothehump · 15/03/2022 09:01

Fish finger sandwich with lots of white pepper and ketchup.

SnowWhiteLobelia · 15/03/2022 09:03

Thos Bachelors packet dehydrated pastas with cheese and broccoli. I then add tinned sweetcorn and loads of salt and pepper and eat with a spoon.

Calandor · 15/03/2022 09:21

Jacket potato with beans and cheese lol. Reminds me of getting home from swimming as a kid

Heronatemygoldfish · 15/03/2022 09:34

Big bowl of buttery Smash made with milk, or home-made macaroni cheese, cauliflower cheese or Tesco Bubble and Squeak. I preferred their Colcannon but they discontinued it, drat it.

ColourfulOnesie · 15/03/2022 09:39

Ah this thread is making me so happy! We all have such similar comfort foods!
And yes to whoever said they were going to make a meal plan from this - I’m doing that right now!
