Feeling a bit rubbish on all fronts atm but I’ve just finished a bowl of soup with a cheese toastie to dip in and now I feel like I’ve been hugged Smile

Corned beef hash, bread and butter snd pickled red cabbage
Heinz tomato soup and cheap white buttered bread
Sausage mash and gravy

BrimfulOfBaba · 14/03/2022 22:01

If I'm in the mood to cook, spaghetti bolognese cooked low and slow with lots of Henderson's relish, and parmesan and fresh basil on top.

If I'm ordering in, Jamaican curry mutton with rice and peas, or a Thai curry with egg fried rice.

@Jumpingintomenopause that sounds delicious, also curious how you make it.

Hope you feel better soon, OP!

Carbs. Soup and toasties. Mash. Huge bowls of pasta.

foodislife1 · 14/03/2022 22:06

Cheesy 'Smash' mashed potato with sweetcorn and gravy

ShrigleyForty · 14/03/2022 22:11

Beans on toast with grated cheese on top.

Wineat5isfine · 14/03/2022 22:12

Cheesy beans with toast or a big bowl of pesto pasta with bacon.

DinosaurRenaissance · 14/03/2022 22:13

Sausages, cheesy mash and gravy.

Or if it's just a snack, very buttery, marmitey toast, or Rachel's rice pudding.

melmos · 14/03/2022 22:14

Shepherd's pie or home made chicken and veg soup with toast.
My husband has many talents but cooking isn't one of them. When I've been ill, we've eaten ready meals (and I don't think they're exactly chock full of vitamins) so now I have a freezer full of home made meat sauce to make into a shepherd's pie and enough chicken soup to float the navy....

MissyB1 · 14/03/2022 22:22

Porridge, always porridge.

heyyellowyellow · 14/03/2022 22:26

Butterscotch Angel Delight

Tinned chicken in white sauce with cheesy mash Blush

Or homemade pumpkin and turmeric soup with lots of hot buttered toast.

Tinned chicken in white sauce with pasta (usually penne) mixed through. It's a delicacy I saw on a Sainsbury's menu/recipe card about 35 years ago and it's been my go-to quick meal ever since. I add some leeks and sometimes mushrooms to the chicken, sometimes cook some peas or diced carrots in with the pasta, mix the whole lot up and top with some cheese. Bloody lush!
LethargeMarg · 14/03/2022 22:28

Fish pie

noblegreenk · 14/03/2022 22:28

Sausage, egg and chips. It was my favourite growing up and my mum always made it for me when I'd had a bad day or wasn't great.

NEE1302 · 14/03/2022 22:30

Home made chunky vegetable and lentil soup made with ham stock. With buttered toast to dip in.

annlee3817 · 14/03/2022 22:30

Sausage and Mash with gravy, or Stew and Dumplings 🤤

PollysPockets · 14/03/2022 22:31

Macaroni cheese, mushroom risotto, cheesy mash or chicken super noodles on buttered white toast topped with grated cheese 😳
Basically beige carbs with cheese 👌

NeverHadANickname · 14/03/2022 22:32

Cream of mushrooms soup with thickly buttered bread. Also banana milkshake.

DelilahBucket · 14/03/2022 22:32

Dippy eggs and soldiers is my poorly food. If I'm up to cooking, Mac n cheese with lardons and parmesan tomatoes on top. I also love a slow cooked chilli served on cheese and tortilla chips with homemade guacamole, soured cream and jalapeños.

catinboots123 · 14/03/2022 22:34
