Feeling a bit rubbish on all fronts atm but I’ve just finished a bowl of soup with a cheese toastie to dip in and now I feel like I’ve been hugged Smile

What’s your go to comfort meal when you feel a bit rubbish?

A crumpet with butter, marmite and a slice of Cornish cove cheddar or Red Leicester cheese.

I love this thread, it's brought back so many memories, all of them lovely.
Mine has to be dairylea and sweetcorn sandwiches put in the microwave until the bread is warm and floppy and the dairylea squishy. 'Tis food of the Gods!

CoverYourselfInChocolateGlory · 14/03/2022 22:44

Jacket potato with cheese and coleslaw
Grilled cheese sandwich

Not in the same meal, obviously. Grin

Benjispruce5 · 14/03/2022 22:44

Oven chips with Hellmans Mayo.

Bloodybridget · 14/03/2022 22:45

Macaroni cheese would be my favourite, but as it's not particularly quick to make, and DP's not so keen on it, I don't have it often. Planning to cook it one night next week when she's away.

Legalconundrums · 14/03/2022 22:45

Spaghetti Carbonara, easy and cheap and feels like a 'posh meal'

Spaghetti, bacon, mushrooms, an egg, milk (or cream if you're flush) cheese which doesn't have to be parmesan, any cheaper cheese is fine)

Having it tomorrow night :-)

adriftabroad · 14/03/2022 22:47

Also fish pie. The J.O one that is super quick with no white sauce.

PurpleDaisies · 14/03/2022 22:48

Macaroni cheese here too.
For something really simple, bachelors pasta n sauce in a white bread sandwich.

Sundancerintherain · 14/03/2022 22:49

A bowl of semolina with a teaspoon of raspberry jam.

Qwill · 14/03/2022 22:49

A massive salad

Ringmaster27 · 14/03/2022 22:51

An obscenely large pile of pierogi mięsem (beautiful little polish dumplings filled with seasoned meat) and a pile of cheesy, oniony mash. Heaven that will always remind my of my Nana! Like a cuddle on a plate

justjuggling · 14/03/2022 22:52

My mum’s macaroni cheese, or creamy mashed potato in a bowl surrounded by heinz tomato soup. Like a potato island in a sea of soup!

1TheCircle · 14/03/2022 22:53

Snack would be Jam and butter on white bread toast
Meal- probably beef stew in slow cooker with carrots, parsnips, swede, onions etc and herby/cheese dumplings

eddiemairswife · 14/03/2022 22:55

Mine is hot, buttered toast. When I was 7 we read The Wind in the Willows' at school. When Mr. Toad was in jail the jailer's daughter took pity on him and brought him hot, sweet tea and hot , buttered toast with the butter melting and forming golden circles on the plate beneath. It was wartime with butter rationing and I couldn't visualise how wonderful that must be.

londonmummy1966 · 14/03/2022 22:57
