Have you turned the heating off yet?

As it’s warmed up this week, I’ve turned the heating off today.

Normally I turn it of 31st March and on 1st October

I thought I’d go early and then see in October how long I can go

I dont ever turn it off. I control it by thermostat and timer

A580Hojas · 14/03/2022 20:18

No. Put the heating on at 5pm today, it's still quite cold here (London). I don't have set days on/off.

QforCucumber · 14/03/2022 20:19

Ours only comes on if the room drops below 15 degrees, hasn’t come on for 3 days so far - I go by temperature not date

SickAndTiredAgain · 14/03/2022 20:19

Yep, ours is off. But I never do it by dates, and if it gets cold again I’ll put it back on.

JaninaDuszejko · 14/03/2022 20:20

Don't you have a thermostat?

17CherryTreeLane · 14/03/2022 20:21

No, because I live in Scotland!

DialsMavis · 14/03/2022 20:24

Turned ours of on Friday to see how long we could go without it, the house is pretty chilly now but not giving in tonight. We have family coming for dinner tomorrow so will put it on for them and looking forward to it.

ivykaty44 · 14/03/2022 20:26

No, because I live in Scotland!

I thought you were more hardy up north

We've switched it off now to save money.

Echobelly · 14/03/2022 20:28

I've turned off the 'middle of the day' time and just keeping it on for early morning and just for when it gets dark now - it looks like we're now it double-figures temperatures territory, so hope I can turn off completely by end of month, if not sooner.

OldTinHat · 14/03/2022 20:29

Haven't turned it on at all this winter 😪

Bluebellbike · 14/03/2022 20:29

Yes I have. 4 days ago. I live alone so nobody else to consider. I put it on manually for an hour when I get up at 7am. In the evening I put a big jumper/blanket on.

BankingOnChange · 14/03/2022 20:30

No, but we are going later in the day before turning it on. I don't usually switch off by date but this year 'm aiming to switch off on 31st just before the huge price hike starts.

LightSpeeds · 14/03/2022 20:31

Yep. Turned it off a few days ago and will just put it on for the occasional hour, when needed (assuming we don't get a big freeze).

Already fed up of the cost of everything...

2ndBorn · 14/03/2022 20:31

No, thermostat controlled so it never goes ‘off’

Emmelina · 14/03/2022 20:31

I haven’t turned mine on for a couple of days, we’ve managed with oodies!

PoleFairy · 14/03/2022 20:33

Thermostat controlled and it doesn't come on unless the room drops below 15. It hasn't come on since Thursday last week though now

Danikm151 · 14/03/2022 20:33

Turned it off Saturday as I was very warm in the morning.
A bit chilly tonight but a blanket will do

Notjustabrunette · 14/03/2022 20:34

I turned it off. Husband put it on again. We sound a bit like Sukey and Polly don’t we.

Kitkat151 · 14/03/2022 20:34

We’ve had it on only a handful of times since Christmas

Shostaklovhich · 14/03/2022 20:34

I just have mine on low in the evening for 3 or 4 hours.

Graphista · 14/03/2022 20:35

Not had it on all winter for fear of the prices!

@17CherryTreeLane I'm also Scotland

I've been using a space heater but not very much. I dress appropriately for the season and temps

whyohwhyohwhyohwhywhy · 14/03/2022 20:37

Yes we did.we normally do when it gets this warm as I hate waking up to a stuffy house.

If we just went by thermostat ours would come on when we opened windows and patio doors which would be madness, so I never really understand when people say that, unless they don't open take in fresh air

StEval · 14/03/2022 20:37

Ours has been off for several weeks.
We are up and out in the mornings and then we use heated throws in the evening if its chilly.
Im in the south though and love an aired house.

stuffnthings · 14/03/2022 20:38

Yep, it's pretty much off, I need to nurse 200 litres of heating oil until the price returns to something resembling sensible.
