Hasn’t Serbia condemned Russia? I’m sure I saw they voted against them

DuncinToffee · 05/03/2022 23:02

Zelensky's reaction to that video is brilliant. However reading through the comments it seems to be a video compression artefact rather than a blue screen.

wheresmymojo · 05/03/2022 23:05

Sorry if this has already been posted but a great explanation of how logistics are the Achilles heel of the RU forces and how that's contributing to them not achieving their military objectives (thankfully)

Look at the magic semi transparent microphone.

I would not want to be the person who cobbled that together.

What was Zelensky saying when he pushed the microphone aside?

SenseFromThoughtDivide · 05/03/2022 23:10

An EMP strike does not automatically mean we couldn’t retaliate

In fact it may guarantee retaliation

An Emp pulse would knockout any unharmed system, this may include radio stations which would be very bad as the radio four signal is one of the triggers to launch

My gut is that its probably not blue screen if I'm honest. I so desparately want it to be, but I don't think it is.

Thats the real beauty of that propaganda. It plants the seed because you ALREADY have the idea of Putin in his castle too afraid to be near anyone cos he's got The CancerParkinsonDementia and he's scared of Covid.

Its truly genuis and really gets to the audience its aimed at.

But really, deep down I doubt its a blue screen.

I'm just in awe at Zelensky over that one though (Proper Nerd Alert)

I watched this about an hour ago which also covers the logistics problems of the Russian military. They have a vast rail network within Russia but one beyond its borders they don't have enough trucks to keep forces supplied. In addition they have a push re-supply system rather than the pull system used by Western forces. They are left with logistics dictating strategy rather than logistics responding and adapting to what's happening on the ground. I found some reassurance in it. Video is just shy of 20 minutes, YouTube channel appears to be run by a logistics expert.

@workisnotawolf

I also used to think we should have encouraged Ukraine to compromise quickly to save lives. However, my thoughts have changed and I have come to believe that the Ukrainian people are defending us (NATO, EU countries, in particular Russia’s immediate neighbours). If they had let it all happen smoothly for Russia, eventually Putin would have gone for the next country.

This is partly where my feelings of guilt and shame and cowardice are coming from. Yes, I do realise Ukraine have their own propaganda machine - but these are my own current thoughts.

Ukraine is not defending us . Ukraine and Russia have been at each other throats for nearly a decade because Ukraine wanted to move away from Russia to the EU. Both have broken or not implicated Treaties. Ukraine has committed human rights violations and suffers from corruption. This is an escalation of the tensions between those two countries. Ukraine wanted its trade deal with the EU and to join the EU both of which annoyed Russia because their trade with Ukraine has subsequently dramatically fallen plus Russia has additional security concerns.

Plus there is dispute over potential gas and oil. The US called Ukraine "the Texas of Europe" although corruption has stopped that ie Ukraine's own natural resource minister Oligarch Zlochevsky (google him) issuing licences to his own company and never being prosecuted. He also owns the gas company Hunter Biden had ties with.
It's a whole hot mess of rich corrupt men and I certainly do not want to be dragged into a war to help them. Help the Ukrainian people yes, .

I completely agree that there's little dirt that could be dug up on our MPs that would cause civil unrest. And certainly not on the scale of true bottom up dissent riots. I'd be interested in hearing it but my opinion of this government couldn't fall much lower anyway.

I think that is the skilled comedian part of him, picking up little things like that and run with it.

Tigersonvaseline · 05/03/2022 23:26

Re scandals Russia could realese asides from top MPs physically giving Putin a bj

What else could shock us?? Really???

Tigersonvaseline · 05/03/2022 23:27

Sorry caveat..
Aside from Dianna abbot, McDonnell , Corybn And... Boris in bed with Putin what else could shock us.

Introduction to Putin's inner circle, the people around him who are right in the centre of this. Several ex KGB. Unfortunately, I can't see any of these men turning traitor and assassinating Putin, as many have hoped.

We don’t know do we?! That’s the whole point of releasing something that will shock us. We won’t see it coming. How did our troops conduct themselves overseas? What about our war crimes that were committed between 2003-2009 that the west heavily monitored them essentially admitted to but write off. Nobody’s hands are clean
Anothermnuser · 05/03/2022 23:33

Not sure whether it’s been mentioned but noticed that Clive Myrie and Lyse Doucet haven’t been on BBC News today. I wonder whether they’re trying to get out now?

Tigersonvaseline · 05/03/2022 23:35

Btw does anyone think places like.georgia are sneaking fighter into Ukraine to help?

Ijsbear · 05/03/2022 23:35

it has occurred to me that Putin is very unlikely to use even battlefield nukes because it would be the first time ever that they had been used, and it might well propel the more neutral but highly powerful countries like China into condemnation. Relations with the West are going to be very difficult for some time to come, and he needs China.

PM says ‘the world is watching’ as he unveils six-point plan to tackle Putin

Oh god we really are doomed. Johnson's come up with a 6 point plan. Anytime we have a politician come up with a X point plan it always seems to be a disaster.

DOOOOMMEEDD I Tell THEE!

Oh God it gets worse as I read it.

But Mr Johnson is set to tell leaders, in an essay in the New York Times on Sunday, that the international community must come together under a six-point plan to keep the pressure on.

He's writing an essay. For a Newspaper. Fucking hell last time he did that we got Brexit.

HELP SAVE ME

Ahead of a swathe of meetings in coming days, Mr Johnson said: “Putin must fail and must be seen to fail in this act of aggression.

He's.going.to.visit.other.leaders.

I don't think I'll cope if its announced Truss is going with him.

We know its really all over if we have a Three Word Slogan.

(On a serious note, Johnson has done interviews with De Welt, an Italian Newspaper I forget the name of and The New York Times now. The FT were talking about how the crisis was forcing the UK in a position to actually get its act together with international relations after we've been acting like dicks for years. Making efforts in this way, actually isn't a terrible idea - its an opportunity to sort our shit out. The article mentions he's seeing the Canadian PM, Dutch PM and then seeing representatives of Czech Republic, Hungary, Poland and Slovakia. Perhaps noticable not Macron, Scholz and Biden though).

Anyway, before this story really does give me nightmares, I'm off to bed.

I wonder when the Russian stock market will reopen?

The Rouble has crashed. Visa and Mastercard have been stopped.

How long can they keep the stock market closed?
