That cameraman who kept rolling was amazing . And all their training kicked in, that's what saved them. They went into auto pilot. Lucky to find that warehouse .

Putin's pissing in the wind. Ukraine will be restored one day. He'll be dead soon enough and so will the rest of his ancient dinosaur military leaders. Their days are numbered.

TheSillyMastiff · 04/03/2022 22:45

Nothing can be 100% verified in war.

But you can use deductive reasoning to come to a logical conclusion.

Russia say it's only targeting "military or operational targets"

So why are cities and town over 50km away from any military instalments being shelled, you can't divert a artillery shell by 50km. It gets loaded in to the barrel, shot out and droped no more than about 22km away from this target. And the constant artillery bombardment we have seen on some cities and towns of cluster bombardment it's impossible.

Now the other thought of dress up. Why would 100,000 Ukrainians play dress up and sit in Russia/Belarus for weeks before invading their own country in Russian marked vehicles? Do you think Russia and Belarus would allow this...I don't think so. We've been able to track by satellite images the advance of some convoys and they clearly came from Russia.

There was a documentary that several people recommended on here, was it on iPlayer? I have scrolled through the last thread but it didn't jump out at me, would be grateful if someone would post a link.

aweekoldnow · 04/03/2022 22:47

@FatFredsFriedEgg

by invaded you mean supplied arms to separatists?

They've sent Russian troops/militias/mercenaries in - the 'Little Green Men'. Surely you know that if you've an interest in the region?

I was asking you what you were referring to. In terms of chicken and egg, what was Russia's justification for the LGM? Or is that irrelevant as far as you are concerned? Rhetorical questions - my comment was that history will analyse in more depth. You don't agree, that is fine. We can leave it there.

The journalists were all amazing. Blimey. Hope they get rescued soon.

Apropos of nothing, my attention was taken on a twitter thread earlier by a very pro-Russian posting in very good English. The poster had only 47 followers and wasn't particularly prolific in their posts. Some posts on London restaurants, art, art galleries etc.

I clicked back to 2016 and they were a prolific 'THIS IS OUR ENGLAND' etc. Brexit poster. Intrigued I clicked back further and there were multiple tweets 'establishing their credentials', many of them in Russian, going back to 2013.

This is a 9 year-old account set up to undermine UK public opinion and therefore democracy. It's clear that the same sort of accounts could operate on Mumsnet - years of innocuous posts about breastfeeding or the annoying STBXH and then having established a backstory the misinformation campaigns can start...

How can Putin sleep at night. What an evil man.

I feel such empathy for the people of Ukraine, this must be devastating for them.

I'm thankful for the journalist's bringing us the news of what is happening but I hope they stay safe, after seeing the terrifying footage of the Sky news team. Their safety just cannot be guaranteed.

Bunnyfuller · 04/03/2022 23:05

Random FB groups where I am full of x squaddies and have a go heroes heading out to Ukraine.

Liz appears to have achieved her aim and every fuckwit and their dog is headed into glory

They did the same in Syria. It's sort of good news/bad news (good they are communicating, bad that they need to)

That is very interesting and a bit scary.
