@cakeorwine thank you I will watch, with cake and wine, for support 😉

On Meduza calling for Russian speakers to get news into Russia - sorry can’t find original post to tag PP - what about the 15 years in prison for “propaganda”? I am just wondering how many Russians would fear that law, if they are over here/in the West? Does anyone have a sense? Presumably if they still have ties they’d want to eventually visit family and might be fearful of repercussions (like the poor US girl who’s just reportedly been arrested on entry)? Though I hope Russians in the West are not fearful and that the overall mood is let’s tear down Putin and his vile regime. Good on Meduza.
I heard something which I thought was pretty innovative on Friday about how now they are shutting so many social media and general media avenues down in Russia, one way to 'talk' to the general population is through TripAdvisor. So starting a review on a popular, high ranked hotel/restaurant, etc and basically saying 'had a lovely meal here last night. By the way your Government is telling you a pile of shite and you need to tell them to stop' Not sure how much truth in it but thought is was bloody clever!

@RedToothBrush

Anna Ahronheim *@AAhronheim* That means Bennett, who is religious and keeps Shabbat, broke Shabbat for this meeting. But, Pikuach Nefesh trumps Shabbat

(Pikuach nefesh is the principle in Jewish law that the preservation of human life overrides virtually any other religious rule. Suggests mediator role is purpose of the trip).

Can he assassinate him to preserve other human life?
borntobequiet · 05/03/2022 17:05

I saw that and I don't really understand why they are singling out the UK over anyone else.

A warning from the paymaster? Who knows.

Sideorderofchips · 05/03/2022 17:05

130mg of potassium iodide

HeadPain · 05/03/2022 17:07

Love the name Naftali. Anyway...

DownNative · 05/03/2022 17:08

If the West and NATO won't commit our armies to the defence of Ukraine, our money can help the Ukrainian Army!

You can donate straight to the Ukrainian National Bank using the account details in this link:

ukraine.ua/news/donate-to-the-nbu-fund/

The bank will enable the Ukrainian Army to buy food, weapons, various equipment, etc, for their soldiers.

@Ijsbear

That's a rather wonderful idea!

about hacking, I'd be fascinated to have a bird's eye view of what's going on in the hacking world right now.

I'm still catching up & not sure if anyone else has replied but if you Follow anonymous on Twitter (there's a few different ones) they are talking about what they're doing

After your post @Thunderpunt I had a quick look at the Hermitage Museum page on Trip Advisor and this message comes up. Shame - Trip Advisor could just have left the comments open.
@Natsku what is the mood in Finland. My son is flying back to Tampere this afternoon after a few days home. We had a serious conversation at the beginning of the week about what to do if Putin were to carry out his threats and it was probably the lowest point of a year that has already been utterly crap for me personally.
i'd have locked him in the cupboard under the stairs until he agreed to stay here! I'm sorry he's going back 💐I'll keep him in my thoughts! & fingers crossed nothing happens there.

NCdBcOuting · 05/03/2022 17:14

Tripadvisor also suspended comments and had a similar message when the boycott of Bruni hotels kicked off, after they passed anti-gay laws (from memory it was that they passed them, maybe it was updated or something, anyway they’d made them worse somehow). Back in 2019.

RedToothBrush · 05/03/2022 17:14

ELINT News @ELINTNews
Zelensky a few days ago asked Bennett to mediate with Russia

Apparently.

There are lots of other review places.

Google reviews, AirBNB, IMDB....

Unless you shut down the entire internet, it's difficult to stop information getting out.

(During WW2, the BBC broadcast messages to resistance groups via poems etc on the radio. It was illegal to have a radio. Nowadays, you could just put a review on Tripadvisor that was a signal to do something)

TheSillyMastiff · 05/03/2022 17:24

@AgnesWestern

Why have they aimed threats at us twice now?!

They said Liz Truss was their reason for putting nukes on high alert and now this? I don’t understand it.
All other countries are acting the same so why call us out specifically?

Because Russia have ploughed money in to the UK Government thinking it would keep the UK in its pocket, not realising that British Politicians are quite happy to take your cash, lie to your face and then change their tune when they fancy without a care in the world. 😂🤷🏻‍♀️
FantasticFebruary · 05/03/2022 17:27

@Roussette

This is just awful...

Russian forces have seized a psychiatric hospital with 670 people inside in the town of Borodyanka in Ukraine’s Kyiv region, the regional governor Oleksiy Kuleba has said.

"Today we do not understand how to evacuate these people, how to help them,” Kuleba said. “They are running out of water and medicines,” Kuleba said. “These are people with certain special needs, they need constant help ... many of them have been bedridden for years.”

I don't even have the words 😢
Clarefromwork · 05/03/2022 17:30

Thread had moved on but thanks BigHuff and CallyfromBlakes7 for answering my questions.

Tigersonvaseline · 05/03/2022 17:34

@HeadPain

Thanks for that that's so interesting!!

workisnotawolf · 05/03/2022 17:35

“AgnesWestern
Why have they aimed threats at us twice now?!”

Putin will continue to make specific threats against us and other powerful NATO countries e.g. US/France etc. He has made threats from the start.

If Putin wants to invade further, cause a huge scale war he is going to do it regardless. So the current strategy is the right one - namely to weaken them as much as possible so if the former happens, they won’t be as successful.

Fiefofum · 05/03/2022 17:36

The advisor to the Ukrainian Deputy PM interviewed on BBC news said there were several orphanages in the sieged towns, running out of supplies, and they could not help them. Heartbreaking to think of.

Fiefofum · 05/03/2022 17:37

(I’m battling infertility and would give several of them a loving home if I could).

Tigersonvaseline · 05/03/2022 17:37

Well perhaps silly but I can't imagine the Russian money went soley into London?
The guardian has also been reporting about biden sonShock , the last thing I saw about biden he was in a hotel room doing drugs?
Not great but nothing madly dreadful.

But no! Apparently he's been up too his neck in dodgy high level stuff.
I only skimmed it so Google if interested.

Gingerwarthog · 05/03/2022 17:41

@Fiefofum
Yes, absolutely heart breaking.
I listened to a lady on Radio 4 today (she'd escaped to Poland with her 6 year old - her husband and Mum were in Ukraine). She was asking for help from psychologists for the kids - to deal with the trauma experienced. Her six year old had told her 'Mummy you think I think we're going on a trip but I know what's going on'.

Gingerwarthog · 05/03/2022 17:42

@Fiefofum
Sorry. I posted before I saw your comment re infertility. I hope my comment about kids didn't seem insensitive. Apologies to you if it did. X

AgnesWestern · 05/03/2022 17:47

Does anyone know what the “retaliation towards Britain” will actually mean for us? Do they mean sanctions against us too?
