How many pizzas would you have ordered?

Following a tense situation this evening I though I'd consult the hive mind.

Friday night dinner for 6 adults - how much would you expect you'd need to order?

(Dominoes/Pizza Hut style pizza)

They are not a side, there a penance!

I like said wedges (but they're proper crispy here - seems like a local branch issue - complain)

But that phrasing really tickled me

We had pizza tonight. 2 large for 5 adults. No sides, and there’s plenty leftover.

Four large pizzas and six sides.

I get the massive salad is a bit of a Mumsnet joke but I have a question...... People who eat a salad with pizza, how do you eat it? With a fork as a side? Eat the pizza with a fork as well? Put the salad on top of the salad? It's keeping me awake at night.

With a fork as a side. Something cold and crunchy with good vinaigrette is excellent with pizza — I don’t get the more carbs on the side love. I mean, I’ve never met a carbohydrate I didn’t like, but garlic bread or potato wedges aren’t enough of a contrast of taste/texture with pizza.

Half a pizza is a colossal amount of calories.

I don't get the point of saying this. Everything we eat has some sort of caloric value. It's up to the individual to assess whether or not something is in line with their caloric needs, and this will vary massively from person to person, week by week, day by day, meal by meal.

You seem to be implying that no one should consume anything that is highly calorific. Just because you are in a position where you feel the need to restrict your calories at every meal, does not mean that other people are.

I would order enough to provide every person with half a large pizza and some bits from a variety of sides.

So for 6 adults I would order 3 large pizzas and 6 sides. That way there is enough for half a pizza (about 4 slices) and everyone can have a few wedges, a few wings, a few chicken strips etc.

I'd also put out Doritos and dip and a few bowls of Pizza Hut salad bar type things.

Some people might not eat that much but that's ok, I'd rather there was more than enough and save for the next day than have people worrying about taking the last slice or still feeling hungry.

When me and my husband have Pizza Hut we share a large and get two sides and we usually finish it all but are stuffed afterwards.

My bf calories come from a family size bar of dairy milk while he naps 🤣

I have a small appetite for pizza and I'd say that's a very mean portion. I think a minimum is half a large pizza per adult. If you have people with large appetites then you'll need sides as well or possibly more pizzas.

Partner fussy! Best friends gf would obviously not share any of those. Add another couple of people I know in and yes 6 it is going to haveto be. If people want to share, entirely different so it depends.

I would say, if just people already in our family (if there were 6 of us as you said), 3 large pizzas plus sides.

BUT, if dh and I are having friends over, we order one per person and send them away with any left overs.

I cannot standard mean hosts.

I'd do 4 with sides. The 4th would be purely in case some wanted 'extra' pizza

If I'm having Dominos I'm stuffing my face. So I want a whole large pizza to myself and some sides. I never eat it all, but I have a good go.

1. Everyone gets asked, if 2 people chose to share up to them. That way everyone gets what they want. I've been in enough situations where someone insisted on ordering a texts bbq, a margarita for the fussy and veggies and a pepperoni only for everyone to eat the pepperoni and to be stuck wading through the BBQ

There will be leftovers but everyone can take their's home. I'd order a couple of sides but I'm not actually interested in mccains wedges or oddly soft chicken
