Anyone else planning incase they need to leave London?

So we didn't think Putin would invade Ukraine. He has. Didn't think he would bomb schools and hospitals and houses. He has.

I know the NATO etc countries are trying for it not to develop into a bigger war.

However what if it does. Surely London would be on the target list? We have camping stuff, am thinking of getting it together so we can get away from London.

Is anyone else?

@NoToLandfill

Point taken about the tent! I was thinking of going to northern Scotland. Don't think Putin would bother bombing there. Hence the tent.

But yes I am really worried. Will look at less news.

Sorry but in Scotland we have nuclear power stations, RAF bases, Naval bases including US American nuclear submarines.

We are prime targets.

Fray bentos pies now with real rat pieces

User48751490 · 04/03/2022 18:25

Londoners have nothing to fear - just anyone in Scotland really!

Thedogisdrivingmemad · 04/03/2022 18:26

If you've read On the Beach by Nevil Shute, you'd prefer to be in the immediate nuclear blast zone for vaporisation, rather than further away. Heartbreakingly sad book.

I echo others, for those feeling anxious, turn the news off as much as possible.

NETSRIK · 04/03/2022 18:31

Why don't you go glamping instead of camping OP as more comfy. Don't put fairy lights or bunting up though as it will only attract attention.

Motherdare · 04/03/2022 18:55

It's probably worth stocking up on essentials like loo paper

Indeed. When that 4 minute siren begins, your insides are going to let you down.

Sorry. Black humour. Only way.

marieantoinehairnet · 04/03/2022 19:12

All those quoting it'll be Scotland

No chance

You might have armoury but we have target 1 and 2, Johnson and Truss

lemongreentea · 04/03/2022 19:17

@FourTeaFallOut

Putin doesn't have to lift a finger to terrorise the public here, he could just sit back and let mnetters do the job.
Basically this.

@User134356356

These are the new "Is there going to be another lockdown" and "They are going to close schools again!" threads
Exactly this. Is it the same people? 🙄
Motherofgorgons · 04/03/2022 19:24

Well I was far more worried about Covid than I am abt being nuked by Putin.

FindingMeno · 04/03/2022 19:25

I'm far more worried about being nuked by putin than covid.

Pootle40 · 04/03/2022 19:27

@TarcasticSwat

Yes was thinking the same OP.

Which camping site are you opting for? I would like one with good shower and cooking facilities. Also, are you taking fresh food for an English breakfast or just taking pastries? Not sure I'd be able to get through the invasion without a fry-up...

I can't breathe for laughing
tyoy · 04/03/2022 19:28

Look at COVID. We all thought it'd stay in China. But look what happened.

I don't understand this point, what's a nuclear bomb got to do with covid?

Pootle40 · 04/03/2022 19:35

@CowboyJo

Look at COVID. We all thought it'd stay in China. But look what happened.

It's good to be cautious.

Not really. What the f would you be able to do if you were cautious about a nuclear war!!?
Motherofgorgons · 04/03/2022 19:38

Has anyone who thinks Putin will nuke the UK come up with a credible reason on this thread? Russia and the Ukraine have been in conflict since 2014.

Honestly, don't let the incessant news cycle terrify you.

Dazedandconfused28 · 04/03/2022 19:39

London is prone a safer place to be, he has huge financial interests here, and lots of oligarchs are based here.

EvelynBeatrice · 04/03/2022 19:42

You don't want to come to Scotland. This is where the U.K. keep the nuclear weapons. We must be a primary target. The north of Scotland you say? Not sure I wouldn't rather be nuked than have to live there Wink

Obviouslynotallthere · 04/03/2022 19:48

Putin has said there is no point in the world without having Russia in it. So I take it if it goes nuclear then we're all finished. However NATO and the UN are desperate to avoid a full on conflict. Unfortunately Ukraine is collateral damage. I think we will have to wait till Putin dies but I hope it is as painful a death like he did to Litvenenko from polonium poisoning and the Salisbury poisoning s with novichok.

BS. They would be more interested in Scotland. Job done quickly because of Trident.
User48751490 · 04/03/2022 19:55

Sorry Dazed my misunderstanding there. You are right, London too important to Putin.

FOJN · 04/03/2022 20:00

Just read that Putin has a daughter who lives in St Georges Hill, Weybridge, which is the next village to us.

Do we think Putin's got enough heart that it might be in our interests to take her hostage?

This thread has cheered me up.

notprincehamlet · 04/03/2022 20:47

This - I'm blanching audibly at the very thought of camping

LibrariesGiveUsPower · 04/03/2022 20:51

If Russia decided to go to with war with us and start bombing/invading us they’d have to work through all the other countries in the way first.

If it goes nuclear your camping chairs aren’t going to help you.

notprincehamlet · 04/03/2022 20:54

Not even if they're from John Lewis?
