Does anyone know what that actually means? Is he threatening nuclear war?

@marieantoinehairnet

Now tell me Truss shouldn't STFU!!!

"There had been statements by various representatives at various levels about possible conflict situations and even collisions and clashes between Nato and the Russian Federation," said Dmitry Peskov, spokesman for Vladimir Putin.
"We consider such statements absolutely unacceptable. I will not name the authors of these statements, although it was the British foreign secretary."
It's not clear which comments by Truss the Russian government objects to, although on Sunday she said she would support individuals from the UK joining an international force to fight for Ukraine.

Please read that statement again. The first sentence indicates the issue is with statements made by more than one person but then the spokesman makes a pathetic attempt to express himself diplomatically by pointing the finger at Liz Truss but refusing to use her name. Unless we have more than one Foreign Secretary he may as well have named her. There are no specifics on what she said to provoke a reiteration of nuclear threats so we're left guessing. It's mind games don't buy into it. If Putin launches a nuclear missile it will have bugger all to do with anything Liz Truss said.

Poor Liz though, makes a covid party look like a walk in the park!

Keepyourheadscrewedon · 28/02/2022 12:59

abit I could not agree more with you.

What is worrying me most is that people do not seem to see what is happening here.

marieantoinehairnet · 28/02/2022 13:03

It doesn't really matter if it's mind games at play. It's veiled threats and ones of all lanes destroying proportions. It is unacceptable and we (the world) need to get done crack troops in to take this lot out!

Well quite. So many posters referencing Russian interference in the political affairs of other countries as evidence of why some votes lack legitimacy whilst failing to recognise the propaganda punching them in the face. Talk about doing the Kremlin's work for them.

@Abra1d1

Yes, sometimes you have to laugh. Even when it’s so dreadful. It helps relieve the tension.
Wholeheartedly agree! Grin

There are some absolute children on this thread

Criticism Truss for speaking out against a lunatic. Of course it’s the right thing to do, you can’t show fear to these people

The world is larger than your 2.4 children family life

And that will be gone anyway if Putin continues his advances

Do behave, it was a joke, even facing disaster I can see the funny side of this!
notimagain · 28/02/2022 13:46

@ABitOfAShitShow

Still not at the latest page but *@Cats345 and @HPmagic* - that is simply not true. There are anti-ballistic missiles that shoot down rockets - nuclear or otherwise. I’m not saying it’s easy when there are lots being fired concurrently but we will have people stationed at all times to intercept at least some of them.
The actual reality is there are around the world a handful of missile systems which have a capability against some short range ballistic missiles and perhaps a very limited capability against some long range ballistic missiles.

It would be very wrong to give the impression the UK (or the US for that matter) has some form of anti-ballistic missile shield.

jamandmarmaladeoncrumpets · 28/02/2022 13:54

@BenjiMcSchmenzie

Putin is definitely seriously (physically) unwell.
  • It’s obvious from his puffy face, and tightly-stretched skin on his cheeks, that he’s taking steroids - anyone who’s ever had to take prednisolone for cancer, lung disease etc will recognise this side-effect.
  • he’s paranoid about Covid

Let’s hope that either the cancer or a bullet gets him within the week 🤞

no that's facial derma fillers. he's been into those for a long time. @BenjiMcSchmenzie
ABitOfAShitShow · 28/02/2022 15:38

@notimagain I never said it was a shield. Hmm

But I do know a bit about this and we absolutely can intercept missiles. It obviously depends how many are coming at you, how many are going after it, etc. But it is absolutely not a given that nuclear weapons meet their target every time.

Springflowers21 · 28/02/2022 15:56

@CarlCarlson I don’t think LT is doing the British public any favours provoking someone who is threatening us with nuclear bombs !! I think she’s needs to engage her brain before her mouth Sad

notimagain · 28/02/2022 16:01

OK, I know you were trying to perhaps provide some reassurance.

I know this is niche stuff in the context of this forum I’m still puzzled as to what system you are referring to, especially if you are thinking of the UK, presumably PAAMS….(though I realise maybe it’s something you can’t answer).

notimagain · 28/02/2022 16:02

Sorry that was for@ABitOfAShitShow..

@notimagain Honestly, wouldn’t know the names of the tech because I don’t work in this area myself (credible source info though). I’m not going to find out though because I’m not sure any detail beyond the high-level facts really helps with people who are panicking. Smile

Whattochoosenow · 28/02/2022 16:37

Putin is trying to turn western countries on each other to weaken the opposition and stir up trouble.

He’s doing that classics thing of “ look what you made me do!”
LT has nothing to apologise for.

Well he hasn't been very successful. The level of unity has been unprecedented.

@ThymePoultice

I often wondered what living through the Cuba Missile Crisis must have felt like.
Much worse than this.

Although this is not good.....

That’s very true..ATB.

Tigersonvaseline · 28/02/2022 17:47

@Holdingontonothing

I didn't realise there was help line for Russian mother's.

That's is kind in amongst this mess.
I can't forget the Face end demeanour of the Russian "soldier" captured early on, said to be 19.
He looked much younger,thin lost and bedraggled.

Chocolattay · 28/02/2022 17:55

Lots of young Russian men won’t want this. Many younger Russians do in fact consider Ukraine as friends.

Apparently many Russian troops were tricked into going to Ukraine, they were told it was for training.

I can’t imagine being one of these lads or their Sadpoor mothers

Tigersonvaseline · 28/02/2022 18:02

Hopefully networks, probably already in existence are being strengthened inside Russia, others saying " enough" and people will get organized to over throw him.
