Putin's highly unlikely to use his nukes. He isn't going to want to extinguish his and his elites' massive investments in the UK.

He is however highly likely to use his new thermobaric bomb on Kyiv and is probably effecting a state of readiness in preparation for deploying that war crime upon the civilians of Kyiv.

At which point that would be the trigger for article five is it to be actioned ?

As well as trying to get countries to back down he’s well aware that his current announcement will cause a lot of worry and stress in numerous countries which will cause people to change their behaviour - some will stop doing things they had been previously planning to do in a wait as see approach and stop spending money which will effect economies already struggling with the Pandemic.

It really is the time to use the Keep Calm and Carry on phrases , however scary it feels - or he wins on another level, I do realise it is easy to say and much harder to do but this is psychological warfare against us all.

If it gets too much definitely take a break from news and social media, it’s one of the few things you to do to give yourself any control in a situation like this.

I've no clue how to use use a gun but would soon learn if there was no other way to save myself and my children from an invading army.

Clearly Putin is not well. Most dictators tend to lose the plot when they have been in power long enough without been challenged.

Maybe a quiet word with China, who may still have some influence over him and will not want to see their export markets implode.

He's being backed into a corner.

He doesn't actually have any strategy what would happen after defeating and fully occupying Ukraine, so this, plus the fact his master plan isn't going the way he was expecting and the whole world is against him, is enough for him to feel that all he has left is nuclear.

We need to bring Special Forces in. They probably already know where he's holed up.

I'm really trying not to be scared but I live a few miles from Faslane naval base. Would there be any point in me travelling to stay with family in England or if he uses nuclear weapons is that basically the end for all of us? (Sorry to be so downbeat)

I’d say the closer you are to where it hits, the better tbh. I’d much rather a quick death than one by radiation poisoning.

However, I really don’t think it will come to that. The ‘problem,’ will be dealt with internally I’d say.

Liz Truss really needs to pipe down, someone needs to reign her in asap. Putin specifically mentioned nato leaders making aggressive statements about his country.

I don't agree. The UK needs to add our voice to the swelling opposition towards this war and toward Putin's aggression directly. The Ukrainian people need to know that we're behind them and doing our bit to assist them in defeating Russian tyranny.
