Going on from a previous thread what is the worst car you have ever owned & what are your reasons?

So I know to stay clear lol!

Mine was my first car a Fiat Tipo.
I loved it as it was my 1st car but that thing would not start!! Petrol gauge was broke too. It was a right shed!

Renault Laguna.
Failed the MOT every year and broke down several times in between.
The cost of repairs was eye watering and , annoyingly, our wonderful mechanics were never able to diagnose the problems as we had to go to a dealership ( miles away) for a very expensive diagnostic first , which always seemed to need an all day stay or , once, an overnight stay as they were busy.
They had the bloody cheek to charge us for "parking" on their premises , by the hour!!!

GCAcademic · 26/02/2022 17:29

Another Fiat Punto survivor here.

ImInStealthMode · 26/02/2022 17:29

Fiat Punto, but only because I was a new driver and the second hand dealer saw me coming a mile off and sold me a pile of crap.

I drive a Fiat now and it's a great car.

Yeahbutnotreally · 26/02/2022 17:31

Vauxhall corsa.

It couldn’t go up hills! You would have your foot to the floor and it just got slower and slower because it had no power. I would never buy another one. The mechanic in our garage laughed when we told him why we got rid of it. He’d had another customer come and ask him to have a look at the corsa he had bought because he thought there was something wrong with it -nope, seemingly they were known for it!

Foxyloxy1plus1 · 26/02/2022 17:32

Citroen Saxo that had a fault, allowing water to pool in the sun roof area and trickle down to the electrics. One day, the central locking was constantly switching itself on and off, so I couldn’t get out of the damn thing.

Peugeot 206cc that had a retractable roof……….which stuck half up and half down. In the car park of the school I was teaching at. You can probably imagine what the students had to say.

Serena1977 · 26/02/2022 17:32

kia piccanto.

Needed full new brakes at every bloody mot (full brakes not just pads/discs)

NightmareSlashDelightful · 26/02/2022 17:33

Yes I had a Renault that gave me no trouble — a Clio. Loved that car

CousinQuandary · 26/02/2022 17:34

Renault 5. Couldn’t even give it away for scrap. Had to pat someone £25 to take it.

MushroomHunter · 26/02/2022 17:36

Yep, Renault Megan piece of crap from start of finish! Had to be scrapped at 70,000

I’ve had a few minis and I love them but my god when they go wrong the are so ££ expensive to fix!

Spudlet · 26/02/2022 17:37

Renault Scenic. Pathetically underpowered and boring as fuck to drive. It did have a good big boot, but that was the only real selling point.

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 26/02/2022 17:39

@RishiRich

A Toyota Aygo I had as an insurance courtesy car once. Seriously thought I was going to die because it was accelerating so slowly that it had only got up to 30mph at the end of the slip road onto the M1.
I hired one ( not intentionally) I asked for something like a Fiesta sized .

It was the tiniest car with the tiniest boot and a reversal camera screen that was bigger than most computer screens Grin

LouLou789 · 26/02/2022 17:40

Another vote for Renault Megane,, awful.

TellerTuesday · 26/02/2022 17:42

I got a Peugeot 206 cc when they first came out. Every single time it rained (and for a few days afterwards) when you pressed the brakes water pissed through the clip things that lifted the roof!! And it had 2 seats in the back that were utterly pointless as only a small child could sit in them comfortably.

Roselilly36 · 26/02/2022 17:43

Range Rover Sport, rubbish build quality, a total disappointment.

prettyteapotsplease · 26/02/2022 17:44

A secondhand orange Lada. DH used it to get to work and thought it would be nice if I learned to drive in the wretched thing. It needed the strength of ten men to get the handbrake off and I had to sit on three cushions to see out of the window. I endured a few lessons with gritted teeth and then refused to try anymore. Twenty years later I finally plucked up the courage to try again and learned in a much better car.

AffIt · 26/02/2022 17:45

I owned a navy blue Volkswagen Polo in my early 20s that was an ARSE.

I actually came quite close to giving it a Basil Fawlty-style beating on a number of occasions.

3peassuit · 26/02/2022 17:48

Fiat Stilo. I bought it new and got rid after about 4 months.

dannydyerismydad · 26/02/2022 17:48

Citroen 2CV. If it rained water dripped down the accelerator pedal into my shoe. It frequently broke down. It rarely started before 9am. Didn't like the damp. The indicator stick sometimes fell off in my hands.

But I bloody loved it. And I miss it.

CharlieLo · 26/02/2022 17:49

Renault Clio. My first car, loved it to look at but it was just rubbish quality and lots went wrong.

namechangeanonymous · 26/02/2022 17:51

2013 Renault Megane the door went in 2016 ish so I wouldnt always be able to just get in the drivers side I would have to reach by 2018 it was starting with the electrical issues by then I chopped it in as I was scared huge bills were coming.

IbizaToTheNorfolkBroads · 26/02/2022 17:59

Another Renault Scenic.
Not so much a case of things going wrong with it, as nothing ever being right with it….. we got it brand new and it wasn’t even the colour we ordered.

Rockbird · 26/02/2022 18:00

Nissan Micra. Shitty little tin on wheels.

drpet49 · 26/02/2022 18:02

Volkswagen Golf- spent more time at the garage getting fixed

Handsnotwands · 26/02/2022 18:02

Hyundai pony. It was bad.

Arsewangry · 26/02/2022 18:06

2005 Renault Megane was my worst car ever. Had no end of electrical issues, including miraculously forgetting about its key card when parked in the work car park one day meaning I couldn't leave, also the alternator went just before Christmas which was less than ideal, brakes also failed at one point. Horrific car.

I had a comedy Vauxhall nova for a short while that used to cut out if you stopped accelerating which was a good craic when I was a poor student.
