Try Semantle.

It's like Wordle in that you need to guess the word of the day, but works by semantics. So you input a word and it will tell you how close you are. You have infinite guesses.

For example, ysterday's word was 'costly' with expensive, cumbersome and burdensome being the three closest words.

I'm currently 840 words away with a similarity of 47%. I started at under 2%.

Got it in 91! Difficult game

I literally have no idea how to play this game
Do I have a thousand guesses? What does 253/1000 actually mean? Is the answer a synonym of this word? Or does it share the same letters? It’s a bit weird.

You can have as many guesses as you like. The closer to 1000 you are, the closer the word is to correct.

The game has worked out what the first 1000 closest words are, so if you had a word that was 995/1000, that would be very close.

Does that make sense?

And you need to get closer in terms of meaning, so yes, synonyms.

"semantically similar", I mean, roughly "used in the context of similar words, in a database of news articles."

@FrenchFancie I was stuck there for ages too, and kicked myself when I finally got it. That final step is actually very small indeed......

Thanks @MrsElm. Your explanation does make sense however I don’t think this is a game for me, I gave up. I’d never have made it it still doesn’t make any sense, it’s like finding a needle in a haystack!

I did have more ‘success’ but just couldn’t make it!

I gave up yesterday, but perservered today, and got in 200 guesses! But it's only my 2nd go today, and I think I have learnt some tips, so I'm hoping to get it in less goes tomorrow 😅

I got it in 47, I’m quite pleased with myself as it’s my first time playing. I did get stuck at 995 for a while.
