Mines fish finger sandwiches or sausage sandwich. For Some reason it has no appeal.
Yet I'd eat a sausage in a bun.

Am I missing that much?

Meat

Dairy

Jelly, I once saw it all mashed up and the texture made it look horrible.

Fifthtimelucky · 21/02/2022 18:40

Foie gras, caviar, olives, tripe and black pudding.

Fifthtimelucky · 21/02/2022 18:41

@Gingerkittykat

Christmas pudding just seems revolting, probably because of the stories of putting a sixpence into it. Who wants to eat food with a manky old coin in it? Brandy butter also seems really horrible. Is it actually made with butter or is it some kind of cream?

For those who have not tried oysters, they are horrible. It's a toss up between oysters and saurkraut for worst food award.

Brandy butter is wonderful!

It's made from butter, icing sugar, brandy and a bit of orange juice.

Smelly tofu. Can't get around the smell. It's like rotting onions.

In the olden days me and OH taught EFL in Taiwan and we lived in a flat on the fifth floor. Every week or so a hand pushed cart selling smelly tofu would park up at ground level beneath our flat and the smell would fill every room if the windows were open.

Subway is genuinely awful. The bread has a weird taste to it. Like it’s long life or something? I once stayed in a hotel above a Subway and the entire place had that weird smell about it. You’re not missing anything.

Despite being quite adventurous I could not face eating snails in France. Also, my grandma cooked tripe once and I still occasionally have flashbacks to that one. The smell. I didn’t give that one a try.

Glamping1234 · 21/02/2022 18:43

Mayonnaise - even the thought of it makes me gag and I have no idea why!

StorminaBcup · 21/02/2022 18:46

Cottage cheese. Nope. Looks like mould.

MrsLargeEmbodied · 21/02/2022 18:46

i dont like kfc, so greasy
never tried oysters and am nervous of shushi
dont fancy fish finger sandwich
wouldnt try snails
not keen on cockles and mussels

loislovesstewie · 21/02/2022 18:47

Crab or lobster; I prefer my meat to be dead prior to cooking. Or shellfish, it looks like snot! (Sorry!)

CeleriacOfTheNight · 21/02/2022 18:48

Sushi. I cannot bear rice in any form.

I didn't mind oysters, but developing a shellfish allergy put paid to those.

@PiperPosey

May I add drink to this? I have never had coffee or tea ( no hot or iced) in my life. Not a sip. I'm 74. I went to a coffee shop once for cookies and the clerk asked me if I would like some coffee... I told her the above and she said, " Well, the coffee is on me and we'll put you in our Newsletter..." and I politely said, " No thank you..." PS...when I was a baby all the way to High School there was always coffee brewing and my mom and dad smoked cigarettes heavily. The mixture of the 2 made me nauseous. I equated tea with coffee somehow. For caffeine I drink Diet Coke.
I drink tea but I’ve only ever had a few sips of coffee and can’t stand it….I think I must be tasting something different to everyone else! I tried it last week after over ten years just to check whether I still hated it and I did.

Also any kind of beef burger and onion…it’s ok if it’s puréed in a curry but I hate the texture and if I get raw onion in my mouth it feels like my mouth is burning! Again, I think I must be tasting it differently to other people.

I’ve never had a kebab either.

JorisBonson · 21/02/2022 18:50

I've tried everything that's been put in front of me. I ate very fatty tuna in Japan and it was like chewing my own tongue, never again.

longwayoff · 21/02/2022 18:54

That Canadian thing - poutine? Chips, curd cheese and gravy. Noooooo. Never.

TwoLeftSocksWithHoles · 21/02/2022 18:55

Andouillettes - I think the French pretend that they like them to try and dupe a naive 'foreign' person into eating one, whilst they snigger behind their baguette.

And then there's snails - that's a slug in a hard shell...

Geezabreak82 · 21/02/2022 18:55

I’ve never had Nandos. I am not a big chicken fan so have never seen the point in trying it.

Lunaballoon · 21/02/2022 18:58

Black pudding. I’m pretty adventurous with food and my DH and PILs will always choose if it’s on a restaurant menu but I just can’t bring myself to try it.

longwayoff · 21/02/2022 18:59

Oh, and takeaway pizza, Domino's, that people seem to love - soggy half-cooked dough spread with the remains found at the bottom of a fridge. How can they be so popular?

Ilovetommycat · 21/02/2022 19:00

Oysters
Mussels
Snails
Brie
Camembert
Stilton - had a hangover on a ferry crossing from Wales to Ireland and queued in the duty-free next to the cheese fridge. The Stilton stank and I thought I would pass out.

devildeepbluesea · 21/02/2022 19:02

A lot of these are no things that “most people would like “ though are they?

Me, I’d eat most stuff on here with relish. Oysters…mmm 🤤

As for something most people like that I’ve never eaten…Krispy Kreme donuts. Never seen the appeal. Give me a good old traditional jam filled one from Tesco.

AtleastitsnotMonday · 21/02/2022 19:02

@StorminaBcup

Cottage cheese. Nope. Looks like mould.
How about blue cheese? Stilton and the like, surely that looks mouldier!
Christmas1988 · 21/02/2022 19:03

Oysters
Whelks
Ovaltine

Bunnybunny1 · 21/02/2022 19:04

Salad cream.

ShallWeTalkAboutBruno · 21/02/2022 19:06

I drink tea but I’ve only ever had a few sips of coffee and can’t stand it….I think I must be tasting something different to everyone else!

Haha I feel the same about tea… vile stuff. Genuinely don’t get why people like it so much. I love coffee though!

AtleastitsnotMonday · 21/02/2022 19:06

@SweetNcrunchy

Roast dinners.
As in the meal as a whole? How many of the elements have you tried? I assume you have eaten vegetables. Do you eat meat? Do you live in the uk?
GreeboIsMySpiritAnimal · 21/02/2022 19:07

I've never had a doner kebab. In my youth everyone wanted to "go for a doner" after a big night out, but it never appealed.

I don't much like Chinese food, so there's loads of stuff on your typical Chinese menu that I've never had. Anything sweet and sour, for example.
