Glad you tried but will never do again?

Years ago I bungee jumped, an absolutely amazing experience but I will never do that again, too old and too scared now!

Are there any things you're glad you tried but will never do again?

Visiting Whitby.

Thought we'd broaden our horizons by holidaying in the North. The place was ugly, full of dogs, stank of fish & chips all day long, & a v. expensive hotel was the crappest we've ever stayed in.
We did love York though.

Gorge swing over the Zambezi
Running a marathon, actually walking a marathon is worse, namely the moonwalk. Moonwalk, stop start all the way round as the traffic is so bad, bloody freezing and you lose a night's sleep.

Oblivion at Alton Towers - bloody terrifying!

Quorn. Tried using the minced variety to make meatballs - yuk
Got my money back, but assume they use some kind of glue to make the commercial variety.

I'm adding camping and festivals, been to lots but now I'm actually thinking about it properly whilst reading some replies here I bloody hate them! Always wear a ridiculous get-up that I would never wear in real life and look a total twat, get far, far too drunk then wake up in a field in last nights clothes and make up feeling like death drink lager for breakfast then do the same thing all over again........why?!
Hmm guess I won't be doing of that again!

Any* of that again

Running a marathon.

I was under my target time (by seconds!) but didn’t particularly enjoy it. It was just too far and the last six miles or so was seriously grim. I was very much ‘never again’ when I finished and fellow runners said I’d be back. Nearly ten years on now and I still feel no desire to run another one, despite still keeping pretty active. Very glad I did it though!

Camping and risotto

Either separately or together

PlanetNormal · 21/02/2022 18:23

Notting Hill Carnival. Lawless (I was repeatedly groped), dangerously overcrowded and genuinely frightening. At one point I thought a Hillsborough type crush was inevitable. Never, ever again.

Camping
Oysters

SparkleSky · 21/02/2022 19:04

Backpacking, I don't like staying in humid dirty uncomfortable accommodation being eaten by mosquitos and sharing a bathroom. I want a nice hotel room.

Sleeping on a ferry without a cabin.

Sleeping in a car.

Dyeing my hair myself, messy bathroom, ruined clothes and slightly orange tinted hair.

Downing a pint, doing rounds of shots and possibly all drinking games.

Seeing a pre school children's show, £60 spent for one small dc to say it was quite good but they didn't like all of it they like the library more and the other smaller one to say they would like to leave now 20 minutes in.

Wearing high heels- I can't ever see myself finding the motivation to wear them again.

Going to a yoga class, in normal life it doesn't bother me one bit that I can't do a headstand.

PathOfLeastResitance · 21/02/2022 19:09

Fly with Ryanair.

RestingStitchFace · 21/02/2022 19:18

Paintballing.

Went for a friend's birthday but hated every second. Have no interest guns or war games and getting shot hurts!

Risotto is a great meal to make when you’re camping!

MintyGreenDream · 21/02/2022 19:27

And a threesome.Tried it in my teens,it wasn't for me.

raspberryjamchicken · 21/02/2022 19:28

Another one for skiing. Cold, dangerous and expensive. Also, I was hopeless.

Icequeen01 · 21/02/2022 19:31

Scout camp!

DH was a scouter and convinced me to go along to their annual scout camp. I HATE camping with a vengeance but add to that the pouring rain, stuck in the middle of a bloody wood, no showers, no hairdryer plugs and my period and I turned into a hissing, spitting mad woman.

Luckily my DH never invited me again.

nancybotwinbloom · 21/02/2022 19:34

Caving or pot holing.

I didn't really know what it was. Said yes as I thought it sounded good.

I was not prepared for the climbing out which was up a small hole with massive fucking spiders all over the walls of the exit. How I am not still down there crying I am actually not sure.

Christienne · 21/02/2022 19:34

@Porthia

Laser eye surgery. I am so glad I had it done but also would not want to repeat the experience.

Also as pp, skiing. Jumping off the top diving board, driving a moped around Thailand.

Not mad keen on doing pregnancy and birth again either (no plans to do so)

Probably more….

I was going to start a thread about laser eye surgery as I was considering it and wondered what it was like…

Tell me more…?

FigitBit · 21/02/2022 19:36

Childbirth & pregnancy

White water rafting

@Invasionofthegutsnatchers

Ecstasy was awesome but I couldn't do it now. The comedown would finish me off. Ditto Speed.

Glastonbury

Camping in general

Yup. The night I took it was bloody brilliant.

But the come down… jeez! Never known anything like it. Barely got out of bed for 3 days.
