Glad you tried but will never do again?

Years ago I bungee jumped, an absolutely amazing experience but I will never do that again, too old and too scared now!

Are there any things you're glad you tried but will never do again?

Kayaking. I ached afterwards for days.

PermanentTemporary · 21/02/2022 14:34

Having an allotment.

Doublevodka · 21/02/2022 14:35

Australia. Everyone seems to love it. I found it the most sterile, overrated place I’ve ever been too.

Go Ape. Never again.
Go Ape on a hangover was grim.

Going to a music festival (Knebworth to be precise - in 1984). Fantastic line up but the entire experience was just miserable. Even without the torrential rain and the mud I would still have hated it.

Ditto huge firework display (For Charles and Di's wedding). The crowds, the hours it took to get out of there, the lack of places to wee, or buy drinks.

Ditto the Notting Hill Carnival. Same sort of idea.

I'm just not cut out for this sort of thing it seems.

Marriage. Even if Chris Hemsworth was begging me.

devildeepbluesea · 21/02/2022 14:57

I’ve not long come back from Vegas. I tend to agree with PP, but I’ll probably do it one more time to do it properly! We finished a long trip of driving in Vegas and by then we were just touristed out and not in the mood.

Next time I’ll go just to Vegas and enjoy it for what it is.

Can I suggest - marriage. Nope, not for me.

devildeepbluesea · 21/02/2022 14:58

@Freshprincess x post 😂

Holiday camp on the South Coast. Just such a depressing experience all round. I’m glad I went though as the memories are enough to ensure I will never go again.

Lanza5 · 21/02/2022 15:05

Go to Glastonbury - amazing, but hard work and I don't feel the need to go again.

Have a wedding - again, amazing, but now I've done it, I wouldn't ever feel the need to get married again if DH and I ever split up.

Having an allotment.
Oooh…. How come? (we’re on the waiting list for one)
PermanentTemporary · 21/02/2022 15:08

I'm glad to have had one as I found out for certain that I wouldn't magically become a gardener by getting an allotment Grin

Did all of those happen on the same ill-advised weekend?

Music Festival
Ecstasy
Water Skiing

MissisBee · 21/02/2022 15:10

Scuba diving. I did the whole basic course but I was terrified every single second I was under. It was spectacular though - I did it in the Solomon Islands, so a combo of beautiful coral reefs and fascinating WW2 history.

Don't suppose it was Pontin's at Camber Sands was it?!
SwedishEdith · 21/02/2022 15:32

Oh, yes to having an allotment. Hard work and all crops can be wiped out with the wrong weather, soil or blight. I lost interest quickly but meant partner missing time at weekends with us as spending it at the allotment.

I'm enjoying this thread as it's confirmed all the things I've thought I'd never want to do anyway.

Sanding an old floor alone with that nasty big machine

Another one for Vegas and LA. Also Miami.

Dropping Acid. Smoking opium. Tried once but won't repeat.

@AmbushedByCake

Skiing. SO expensive and actually quite scary. No thanks.
@AmbushedByCake - I came on to say skiing! I hated it.
Invasionofthegutsnatchers · 21/02/2022 15:46

Ecstasy was awesome but I couldn't do it now. The comedown would finish me off. Ditto Speed.

Glastonbury

Camping in general

BlondeDogLady · 21/02/2022 15:48

Riding a camel. So much harder than it looks. Nearly fell off so many times. My legs ached afterwards for ages (gripping to hold on). Never again!

Skiing - just couldn't do it!

Rock n Roller roller coaster - 0-57mph in 3 seconds - horrible!!

Sallycinnamum · 21/02/2022 15:51

House renovations. Never again.

Having a loft conversion nearly broke me and not helped by our builders taking far longer than necessary.

We lived in a building site on and off for 5 years when DC2 was a teeny baby and DC1 a toddler. My main memories of that time is dust, mess and desperately hoping I'd come home to find DIY SOS had turned up to finish it all in record time. Yes, it was that bad!
