Glad you tried but will never do again?

Years ago I bungee jumped, an absolutely amazing experience but I will never do that again, too old and too scared now!

Are there any things you're glad you tried but will never do again?

Going inside the great pyramid.

Fantastic, spooky and so claustrophobic (and i’m usually fine) plus it’s only one wide for both directions of travel and was so hot in august!

Doing it once was amazing though

@Mrsjayy

I crossed a rope bridge in Northern Ireland , near the giants causeway never again it was too swingy ! I've also tried snails never ever again Envy
Done that a couple of times. The Carrick-a-Rede rope bridge was A LOT scarier in the 1980s!!

I would add to this list: parachute jump (static line so you did it by yourself but you were attached to the plane till your parachute opened) - I had so many bruises from practising the landings; and clay pigeon shooting, because it was completely different. I’m a rubbish shot, the weather was standard March winds, cold, earache weather and the recoil did my shoulders in- but it was good to try it once.

The chair lift at the Needles in the Isle of Wight, beautiful views but genuinely terrifying....never again
Absolutely agree - I did it last summer and was terrified, dangling mid-air above the sea. The rest of the family were just laughing at me.

Totally agree with childbirth/pregnancy. Love the fact I've had that experience. Loved pregnancy the first two times. Childbirth was awful while it was happening but I'm glad I did it, just have no desire to ever repeat it!

I took cocaine once when I was younger. Had a fantastic time but the level of memory loss is completely alarming - I have total black spots - and the bits I do remember I have no idea how or why they happened, like I don't know how we got home and I remember being at a stranger's party and could roughly tell you which area of town it was in, but absolutely no idea how or why we ended up there. That freaked me out a lot so I would not do it again.

Ice skating - not fun, terrifying risk of injury and the whole thing is cold and miserable. Based on this and other responses I think I won't bother trying skiing :o

Edinburgh! Nice enough, but don't need to go again.

Yourinmyspot · 21/02/2022 22:58

Running a marathon, one was more than enough.

PoorMegHopkins · 21/02/2022 23:17

Rome. It was hot and crowded and full of traffic.
Ice skating. I have no spatial awareness and terrible balance. I shall stick to watching.

Doing New Year's Eve at one of those big outdoors public events. Went in my 20s to Trafalgar Square with a boyfriend who warned me it'd be shit. And it was. No pubs open, just sold beer over a barrier to the door so freezing cold, not drunk, a half-hearted "HNY" to a few people I didn't know and didn't care about and then shuffled off to get Tube home.

VivienneDelacroix · 21/02/2022 23:41

Cairo
Caving
Zip line above a town (I could probably do over a lake, but not concrete again).

TedMullins · 21/02/2022 23:46

Oh I love Go Ape and the ArcelorMittal slide!

Agree on Vegas. I found it strangely bleak and sinister under the glitz.

Parasailing, where you sit in a parachute and get pulled along by a boat, the ropes creak like they’re going to break and even though I was harnessed in I felt like I was going to fall to my death the entire time. Horrendous.

Eating mussels (I’m veggie now anyway).

Dating someone I didn’t immediately fancy. Lovely bloke but no attraction - some friends convinced me a ‘slow burn’ might happen and that they’d not fancied their boyfriends immediately. A slow burn did NOT happen - I just became more and more repulsed by the poor chap.

lejourseleve · 21/02/2022 23:48

Also during the first lockdown I got an ingrown toenail - I soaked it in hot water took as many painkillers as I safely could and dealt with it myself. So happy I did because it was agony, but never again!

Sub Saharan Africa. I just didn't feel at ease.

LimeSupper · 21/02/2022 23:51

Having children, breastfeeding, running a marathon, finishing university.

Caving or pot holing.

I didn't really know what it was. Said yes as I thought it sounded good.

I was not prepared for the climbing out which was up a small hole with massive fucking spiders all over the walls of the exit. How I am not still down there crying I am actually not sure.

I came on to say caving too. My experience (in man made tunnels) was about 30 years ago and I can still feel the claustrophobia. Glad to have tried it, but never again.

Also, scuba diving. Much more enjoyable than caving, but I'll stick to snorkelling.

OMG , I got stuck on that chairlift with my friend when we were teenagers, hanging over a huge drop for about half an hour. 45 years ago and I'm still feeling queasy just thinking about it!
Goldenbunny · 22/02/2022 00:10

Diving in a dive tank I nearly died that day, The life guard had to rescue me from the bottom of the dive tank and revive me.

Bungee jumping that was scary.

Going on any type of roller coaster got stuck on one at Alton towers not been on one since.

Having anymore kids 3 is enough.

Goldenbunny · 22/02/2022 00:14

Also going in a cable car we got stuck in one for 4 hours we was being rocked liked crazy it made me vomit.

sarah13xx · 22/02/2022 00:17

Smoking, as a teenager. Always thought it looked cool and probably ‘tasted’ the nice way (I thought) it smelled. Tried it once trying to act casual about it but oh dear god, never again! Tasted like I was chewing an ashtray! My Dad used to always say if I ever tried it I’d never get another penny from him etc but I think that’s actually the wrong attitude because if I hadn’t tried it I’d still have the opposite impression of it and I’m glad I did try it now to know it’s 100% not for me!

AgeingDoc · 22/02/2022 00:23

Sailing a yacht into a major port at night. Exhilarating and absolutely terrifying in roughly equal measure. Proud of myself for coping but once was enough.
Going caving. Took a lot to overcome my fear and I did have a huge sense of achievement when I had done it but I definitely didn't get the bug.

HopingForMyRainbowBaby · 22/02/2022 00:34

@BlondeDogLady

Riding a camel. So much harder than it looks. Nearly fell off so many times. My legs ached afterwards for ages (gripping to hold on). Never again!

Skiing - just couldn't do it!

Rock n Roller roller coaster - 0-57mph in 3 seconds - horrible!!

Rock and roll Rollercoaster... Amazing!!
LilacPaisley · 22/02/2022 00:35

Yoga. Found it really stressful.

Oh, that's interesting. I thought it was really, really easy! Maybe I had a particularly well-behaved camel.

BritInAus · 22/02/2022 03:19

Sleeping with men. Thought it was good before I slept with women.

mathanxiety · 22/02/2022 04:38
