So we've got Dudley today and tomorrow and Eunice on Friday so thought I'd start a thread. Dudley has barely hit here in Edinburgh and already there's a flight from LHR struggling to land.

@Carpediem15

It is much easier to type The Beluga rather than one of the fleet of Belugas.
A Beluga?

Just sounded to me from some posts as if some were thinking there was only one such beast but if “the,” works then fine.

Bet these are noisy going overhead about 13,000 ft

I grew up in an area where this happened a lot. I loved it. Especially when we were hillwalking with the school once and heard the noise, we looked up and then realised they were going through the valley below us.

Me too although I don't remember there being so many, it was especially fun when your were up on the hills riding. I've seen pilots faces they've been so low

This is very addictive! I'm watching a Moldovan Airways flight 'Relax' flying over Moldova. Am I misunderstanding this or is it's sole purpose to spell out the word relax?

I read on Facebook that it was organised for the launch of a new radio station called relax and they had the launch party/conference on board.

It's being tracked by increasingly large numbers of people, unsurprisingly!

liveforsummer · 17/02/2022 15:33

It's been advertised on their Facebook and I also just got a notification from the app with a link to go and follow so assume lots of others will be getting that too

Oh lord you lot will be watching us later - wish us luck. Landing standards tonight from Denmark.

TattiePants · 17/02/2022 15:35

That's one hell of an expensive launch party! I'm alternating between that and the other most watched flight, an RAF flight over Ukraine that seems to be doubling back on itself (surveillance?).

liveforsummer · 17/02/2022 15:37

I was thinking the same @TattiePants really pushing the boat (plane) out with that one

TBH In these days when airlines are supposed to be trying to be a bit more aware of the environment, et. not sure it’s a particularly clever idea but it’s become a bit fashionable.

ErrolTheDragon · 17/02/2022 15:53

Wow, that was very precise, notimagain.
The Relax was a bit more freehand

A Eurofighter heading towards Amsterdam from Conningsby has just disappeared from my screen. Invisibility cloak again? Confused

ajandjjmum · 17/02/2022 16:31

Suddenly reappeared, and seems to be shadowing a large plane from Brize Norton. DH wants to know about dinner. I mean - priorities!!!

Standard training / exercise flight, they’re routinely up.
Carpediem15 · 17/02/2022 16:37

Yes they do - or I have seen the same one every time. :-)

@thisislove

I had an aborted landing coming into Bangkok several years ago and an aborted take off coming out of Zante 3 years ago. The aborted take off was worse.
And more dangerous because you'd be full of fuel.
Melx42 · 17/02/2022 17:45

We are meant to be flying from Gatwick to Sofia at 3pm tomorrow so crossing fingers!

notimagain · 17/02/2022 17:50

Updated Heathrow forecast just been released, minor changes but not much to cheer about..

Chance of rain early AM, crosswind starts to build from 0300 hrs but hopefully the early flights such as the Toronto mentioned upthread have a fair chance of landing..

It then all starts to really kick up from 0900 onwards and by noon at it’s peak when it is forecast to be out of the southwest, 30 knots gusting 60 knots,

Reduces slightly in the PM veering to a westerly (so along the runway) and reducing a tiny bit…

Motnight · 17/02/2022 17:53

My dd is on a flight from Luton to Glasgow tomorrow am. Fingers crossed!

FWIW Gatwick forecast at that time is a howling wind but fortunately straight down the runway..so hopefully if your aircraft hasn’t got caught up in disruption earlier in the day you’ll be OK.

Good luck.

Magicmum101 · 17/02/2022 18:00

This has opened a door to a whole new world for me! I'm meant to be flying from Gatwick to Venice at 9.30am tomorrow. What are the chances of the flight being canceled do we think? And if so, when do airlines start announcing cancellations?

TomAllenWife · 17/02/2022 18:06

Soooooo who think I'll be flying from Bristol to Tenerife tomorrow at 2pm

mamabear715 · 17/02/2022 18:08

Fascinating.. (SCARY!)
