So we've got Dudley today and tomorrow and Eunice on Friday so thought I'd start a thread. Dudley has barely hit here in Edinburgh and already there's a flight from LHR struggling to land.

The AMS to LBA is not far away, I'll be surprised if it lands as nothing else has landed at Leeds for hours.

Pinotpleasure · 16/02/2022 22:11

Yay! The flight from Rennes has landed at MAN

Newrunner29 · 16/02/2022 22:11

@notimagain

The Manchester situation is interesting from an aviating POV.

It's certainly very windy but doesn't look like they've got massive crosswinds (it's generally about 20 knots across at worse) so they are either getting turbulence/windshear that is triggering the go-arounds and/or there are nasty shower around causing problems..any thoughts from the locals?

Thank u for the explanations , r u a pilot? Hope u don't mind me asking

Way to go Rennes :)

Bordeaux next....

roarfeckingroarr · 16/02/2022 22:12

Rennes did it! Now for Bordeaux?

This is ridiculously compelling.

TheDogsMother · 16/02/2022 22:12

I bet there's a round of applause on that flight 👏

FairyLightQueen · 16/02/2022 22:12

Looks like SSH-MAN is heading south rather than trying again... I wonder where they'll try to land

CaveMum · 16/02/2022 22:12

Rennes had a wobble, went down to 600ft then straight back up to 800ft before coming back down and landing it.

BOD’s turn then there’s a Paris flight coming in behind.

UsernameIsNotAvailableRightNow · 16/02/2022 22:12

I live 5 mins from LBA and the wind here is terrible!

FairyLightQueen · 16/02/2022 22:14

Wooo! BOD did it!

Pinotpleasure · 16/02/2022 22:14

Yay! Bordeaux to MAN just landed!

CaveMum · 16/02/2022 22:14

I think BOD went for a hard landing there! The altitude dropped very quickly!

CovidCorvid · 16/02/2022 22:14

KLM flight approaching Leeds which could be interesting because Leeds is a nightmare to land at when windy.

Chohlin654 · 16/02/2022 22:14

Have you ever flown ryanair? They will just slam it down in all weathers. Zero fucks given from ryanair drivers

SpinningTheSeedsOfLove · 16/02/2022 22:14

I'd do a clap for air traffic controllers tbh

TheDogsMother · 16/02/2022 22:14

BOD looked a bit hesitant then went for it. Another scary landing.

comfortablyfrumpy · 16/02/2022 22:15

@inigomontoyahwillcox

Rennes MADE IT! 🙌
👏👏👏
liveforsummer · 16/02/2022 22:15

@QueenOfThorns

They’re lining up now at Manchester, looks as though conditions have improved Smile
This storm definitely seems to have peaks and troughs, just been out with the dog and at some points could barely walk and others it was silent. I guess the timing is everything when it's gusting like this

I shouldn’t laugh really but 🤣🤣
GracieLouFreeebush · 16/02/2022 22:16

There’s an Amsterdam to Leeds pretty close now. I’ve not seen any land at Leeds yet. The wind doesn’t sound as gusty to me now

ShavingTheBadger · 16/02/2022 22:16

*schwipes over to LBA for the KLM flight and opens a Grolsch

Glorieta · 16/02/2022 22:16

Cmon sharm

FairyLightQueen · 16/02/2022 22:16

I'm still at MAN, let's see how the Paris & Berlin ones do

not a plane buff Doesn't look like a very big plane either.

I have spent far too long this evening staring at maps and planes thanks to you lot! Grin
it is definitely addictive

TheDogsMother · 16/02/2022 22:17

I was just thinking that Ryanair are getting their planes down.
