So we've got Dudley today and tomorrow and Eunice on Friday so thought I'd start a thread. Dudley has barely hit here in Edinburgh and already there's a flight from LHR struggling to land.

Oh heck.
Friday morning is looking rough.
Are take offs better than landings?
We have a 7am flight from BHX heading south and from what I can work out the plane will have arrived the night before.

CaveMum · 16/02/2022 22:05

Looks like RNS has lined up behind SSH and poss BOD coming round behind them both.

ShavingTheBadger · 16/02/2022 22:06

@notimagain - I’m in Oldham and we’ve certainly got dreadful gusts, and on-off torrential rain. Had bad sleet an hour ago. Mind, I’m 20 miles from the airport which is on the edge of the Cheshire Plain - I’m the very edge of the Pennines.

Belfast Southampton just landed at Gatwick.
Poor pilot and passengers

ajandjjmum · 16/02/2022 22:07

Southampton's landed!!! Grin

RestingMurderousFace · 16/02/2022 22:07

@notimagain

The Manchester situation is interesting from an aviating POV.

It's certainly very windy but doesn't look like they've got massive crosswinds (it's generally about 20 knots across at worse) so they are either getting turbulence/windshear that is triggering the go-arounds and/or there are nasty shower around causing problems..any thoughts from the locals?

I shall poke my head outside....hang on.
FleeceNavidadFromTheSheep · 16/02/2022 22:08

Phew

Chohlin654 · 16/02/2022 22:08

Sharms gone back up

Philandbill · 16/02/2022 22:08

The Southampton pilot must be mighty relieved.

CaveMum · 16/02/2022 22:08

SSH aborted at 800ft

TheDogsMother · 16/02/2022 22:08

The Sharm flight is coming in without any circling.

FairyLightQueen · 16/02/2022 22:08

Looks like SSH didn't land in MAN... eeek.

SonicBroom · 16/02/2022 22:08

Looks like a Geneva-Gatwick flight had to go around to make way for the Southampton one??

Wincher · 16/02/2022 22:08

Southampton’s landed but a geneva plane has had to go around just behind it - not enough clearance I guess!

NoWordForFluffy · 16/02/2022 22:08

SSM didn't manage it !

gelatogina · 16/02/2022 22:09

I’m 10mins from manchester airport, it’s very gusty at the moment

TheDogsMother · 16/02/2022 22:10

I was wrong about Sharm ! That must have been pretty scary as it was down to about 1000 ft.

RestingMurderousFace · 16/02/2022 22:10

Wind has calmed down massively, it was horrendous earlier! No rain. I'm not scared for them any more Smile

Pinotpleasure · 16/02/2022 22:10
