Can I ask you how many tablets you take a day, please?

I sometimes wonder if I am taking so many that they cancel each other out. I take three for medical reasons and then I also take Vit D, Magnesium, and Curcuma. Thanks.

None.

actiongirl1978 · 07/02/2022 15:57

None. But I have a drawer of vitamins that I probably should take.

I don't take the pill and struggled to remember to take an asthma tablet so gave that up pretty quickly.

Iron (I'm anaemic) vitamin D and an antihistamine for hayfever most of the year (not started this year yet). Occasionally folic acid (I have b12 deficiency and you need good amounts of folic acid to aid use of the b12).
What are you taking yours for?

NannyR · 07/02/2022 16:00

Go have a chat with your pharmacist if you are concerned - they are the people who know the most about drugs and how they interact.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/02/2022 16:01

Loads!
Anti-histamines all the time
Sinus tables (see above)
Antacid
Multivitamin
Vitamin D (three little tablets)
Vitamin C (not every day)
Omega 3 (or cod liver oil if that's what I have)
Magnesium when I need it (that would be TMI)
I have iron tablets because I get almost none in my diet, but I avoid taking them.
I should rattle when I walk.

Gingerkittykat · 07/02/2022 16:01

Why would they cancel each other out?

I'm on 12 prescribed, plus a weekly self administered injection plus vitamin c and D.

I do worry where the side effects from one and symptoms of an illness start and end.

SpaghettiArmsMurderer · 07/02/2022 16:01

6 I guess - the pill, 2 medications twice daily, and a multivitamin

SDTGisAnEvilWolefGenius · 07/02/2022 16:06

I take eight - four bile-acid binder tablets (to help ease they symptoms of lymphocytic colitis and IBS), a multi vitamin and mineral tablet, a vitamin d tablet (I was told on MN that extra vitamin d may help with long covid) and two different antidepressants.

yorkshireteaspoonie · 07/02/2022 16:13

3 prescription tablets and one injection

4 vitamins/ supplements

Mrsweasleysclock · 07/02/2022 16:18

13 a day on prescription

Recommended vit D aswel.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/02/2022 16:22

"Why would they cancel each other out?

Some minerals do cancel each other out I think. People have been taking zinc for immunity, but if you take zinc all the time it can affect your copper levels apparently.
I think calcium can inhibit magnesium too.

Gwenhwyfar · 07/02/2022 16:23

Does anyone take probiotics and which one would you recommend?

notacooldad · 07/02/2022 16:23

1 hrt tablet.
I'm 57

ISpyCobraKai · 07/02/2022 16:24

Around 25, all prescribed, then 3 inhalers and nebs.
I have brittle asthma and severe osteoporosis

devildeepbluesea · 07/02/2022 16:26

None. Health wise I’ve been very lucky so far.

I don’t take vitamins. I eat food.

Theworldisquiethere · 07/02/2022 16:31

multivitamins
painkillers most days
antihistamines in summer for hayfever
probiotics

nothing prescribed at the moment

RufustheFloralmissingreindeer · 07/02/2022 16:31

6 in the morning (two of them are the same drug just in two tablets)

3 at night

One of the night ones is a vitamin tablet which i found in the medicine box and feel I should finish) Im supposed to take iron tablets til my period finishes but I don’t

So 7 are prescribed

Theworldisquiethere · 07/02/2022 16:33

I don’t take vitamins. I eat food.
What a ridiculous thing to say. I eat very healthily but always feel a difference when I regularly take a good daily multivitamin.

GrandPrix · 07/02/2022 16:33

I take

Rosuvastatin and Fenofibrate (for hypertrygliceride something or other)

Utrogestan hrt (and a patch)

Vitamin d every few days
Probiotic (solgar)

YanTanTetheraPetheraPimp · 07/02/2022 16:35

8 prescription drugs plus analgesics as needed (currently on ibuprofen, paracetamol aspirin ☹️)
I do take a multivitamin when I remember!

breakdown19 · 07/02/2022 16:37

What is curcuma

Kitkat151 · 07/02/2022 16:39

Over 20 prescription tablets a day

NeverDropYourMooncup · 07/02/2022 16:39

Can't be doing with tablets. If it doesn't come as an injection, I neither need it nor have it.

I have lots of injections.

weebarra · 07/02/2022 16:43

6 prescription meds in the evening and vitD and calcium in the morning.

SmithofSilver · 07/02/2022 16:44

I only take the contraceptive pill. I use a vit d spray but I don't know if you would count that.
