I sometimes wonder if I am taking so many that they cancel each other out. I take three for medical reasons and then I also take Vit D, Magnesium, and Curcuma. Thanks.

8, antihistamine and cerazette at night, multi vit, vit d, flaxseed oil, probiotic, vit b slow release and digestive enzymes in the morning. I really notice if I forget the vit b or the enzymes.

FrownedUpon · 07/02/2022 16:46

Vit D. Agree it’s best to get vitamins & minerals from your diet. I think the evidence base for vitamin tablets is poor. I take vitamin D during winter though as am working inside a lot.

Christmas1988 · 07/02/2022 16:49

TooManyPJs · 07/02/2022 16:57

I take three prescribed meds each morning and one sometimes two prescribed meds each night.

Then I take the following supplements (also for :

Vit d plus k2
B complex
Methylfolate liquid
4 x active iron tablets
Vit c 1 or 2 tablets
Fish oil x2
Probiotic tablet x 1
Kefir
Protein powder scoop

Also take digestive enzymes if I need to (I can't digest certain FODMAPs).

I also sometimes take zinc or selenium.

So you are fine lol!

Be aware that some supplements can interfere with some prescribed medications (either their absorption or their action) so make sure you check that.

Waxonwaxoff0 · 07/02/2022 17:21

@NannyR

Go have a chat with your pharmacist if you are concerned - they are the people who know the most about drugs and how they interact.
^ This. You can book a medication review with your pharmacist.
FlipFlops4Me · 07/02/2022 18:26

I take six prescription drugs, plus calcium, vitamin D and a multi vitamin (which my GP insists I take because following surgery my bowel is missing a piece and I don't absorb vitamins all that well).

I'm also type 1 diabetic so I get a minimum of five insulin injections each day - two of one sort, three of another.

A580Hojas · 07/02/2022 18:27

None. Occasionally take a vit D if I remember. Appreciate I am extremely lucky.

MyGlassKeepsLeaking · 07/02/2022 18:36

6:
beta blocker to slow down my heart rate
BP tablet
anticoagulant
statin
antidepressant.

multi-vitamin

The first 4 are because I had a stroke last year. They're to prevent any more (although they said it was caused by Covid, so that doesn't make sense)

Abraxan · 07/02/2022 18:40

I take a fair few due to arthritis and hypertension (developed when I caught covid the first time).

Daily I take 12 prescribed tablets, mostly in the morning. I also have a shop-bought vitamin tablet I take too.

Once a week I have an injection one.

3 times a week I take another tablet, to counter balance some side effects of the pen.

Then I am prescribed up to 7 pain killers a day, which I can take as and when required.

Some days I feel like I'm rattling!

tulips27 · 07/02/2022 18:44

Vitamin D (outside of summer).

Recycledblonde · 07/02/2022 18:47

Naproxen for arthritis, fexofenadine for allergies, levothyroxine for hypothyroidism, propranolol for essential tremor HRT and Vitamin D in winter.

ThroughThickAndThin01 · 07/02/2022 18:57

@Theworldisquiethere

I don’t take vitamins. I eat food. What a ridiculous thing to say. I eat very healthily but always feel a difference when I regularly take a good daily multivitamin.
I don’t think that is a ridiculous thing to say. If you eat a healthy varied diet you shouldn’t need to take extra vitamin tablets. Fair enough if you are going through a stressful time when you aren’t managing to eat well, or too manic.

Luckily I don’t need to take any for medical reasons, now mid/late 50’s. Blood pressure a bit high so keeping tabs on that.

PlanetNormal · 07/02/2022 19:01

Vitamin D daily in winter.
Antihistamine daily from May to October and whenever I’m going to be in contact with cats or horses, or people who have been around them.

DramaAlpaca · 07/02/2022 19:04

I take four tablets in the morning and five in the evening.

Three are prescribed medications and the rest are supplements. I take vitamin D, zinc, cod liver oil, turmeric for my joints and finally two different supplements for menopausal women.

ihaveonecat · 07/02/2022 19:05

Antihistamines (4 a day)
Citalopram
Levothyroxine (2)
Vitamin d
Multi vitamin (2)
Beauty supplement (2)
Dihydrocodeine

So 13 if you count individual tablets plus 4 injections a month

Gwenhwyfar · 07/02/2022 19:05

"I don’t think that is a ridiculous thing to say. If you eat a healthy varied diet you shouldn’t need to take extra vitamin tablets. "

This is not true for vitamin D.

fairylightsandwaxmelts · 07/02/2022 19:05

One multivitamin.

I also take tablets (6 each day) when my period is at it's heaviest, so for maybe three days a month.
