I sometimes wonder if I am taking so many that they cancel each other out. I take three for medical reasons and then I also take Vit D, Magnesium, and Curcuma. Thanks.

@devildeepbluesea

None. Health wise I’ve been very lucky so far.

I don’t take vitamins. I eat food.

Even if you eat healthily you can’t necessarily get all you need from your diet. The NHS recommends that everyone take a vitamin D supplement September-March and some people all year round. This is because its very difficult to get enough from food and the sun isn’t strong enough in autumn and winter for you to produce it.
SomeOwlsCoo · 07/02/2022 19:06

8 at the moment, but I think I need to add folic acid and am waiting for a meds review to restart another so should be 10.

SpaghettiArmsMurderer · 07/02/2022 19:06

It’s^ grr!

Gwenhwyfar · 07/02/2022 19:07

"Also take digestive enzymes if I need to (I can't digest certain FODMAPs)."

Which enzymes please?
I didn't know you could take kefir as a supplement. My supermarket has stopped stocking it.

Houseofvelour · 07/02/2022 19:08

7 a day, sometimes 8.
I'm 32

MaidEdithofAragon · 07/02/2022 19:08

Three prescription ones. Three supplements that my GP suggested but didn't prescribe, so I buy them.

Nat6999 · 07/02/2022 19:08

I take 8 x dihydracodeine, 3 x Garbapentin, 2 × levothyroxine, 1 × mirtazapine, 2 x Naproxen, 1 x mirabegron, 1 x selenium, 1 × magnesium, 1 x folic acid, 1 x Vitamin D3, 1 x Vitamin K2, 1 x Vitamin B complex, 1 x trimethoprim, Co-codamol when needed & 1 Vitamin B12 injection a day.

MrsDThomas · 07/02/2022 19:10

Mini pill
Folic acid

Gwenhwyfar · 07/02/2022 19:11

@breakdown19

What is curcuma
Turmeric
TheDoveFromAboveCooCoo · 07/02/2022 19:15

I don’t think that is a ridiculous thing to say. If you eat a healthy varied diet you shouldn’t need to take extra vitamin tablets

Bit short sighted. Vitamin D is a must during the colder darker months. I am also prescribed b complex and thiamine because my diabetes medication can inhibit vitamin B absorption.

I eat very healthily thanks!

ihaveonecat · 07/02/2022 19:16

Yeah I take vitamin d because I was severely deficient. My work has no windows to the outside and I arrive in the dark and leave in the dark
The multi vitamin is to cover anything I'm missing from my diet

jimmyreckon · 07/02/2022 19:16

BlackSatinBand · 07/02/2022 19:18

Vit D
Iron
Zinc
B vitamin complex

  • two prescribed meds
purplesequins · 07/02/2022 19:18

vit d3 & magnesium daily
iron 2 days a week (recommended by gp as otherwise tend to become anaemic)

I'm lucky that I don't need medication daily at the moment, but hayfever season will change that soon.

if you are worried aboug your medications or supplements as a pharmacist or gp.

northernstars · 07/02/2022 19:23

6 for bipolar, 2 for thyroid and a multivitamin as I don't eat meat. Top up B12 injections when needed. Triptan and painkillers for migraine when needed.

isthismylifenow · 07/02/2022 19:24

Vitamins :

Calcium
Magnesium
Multivitamin
Evening primrose oil
Probiotic
Hair and nails formula

Magnesium and Probiotic are for ibs.

If my pee gets a bit bright yellow I skip the mv. That's how I see if I'm not needing it at the time. Usually I have normal coloured pee so they are being put to some use. Imo.

Missey85 · 07/02/2022 19:26

7 a day for Epilepsy plus iron tablets

tackling · 07/02/2022 19:28

I eat super healthily. Didn't stop me developing anaemia or low vitamin d levels. I'm on pills for both.

Cocolapew · 07/02/2022 19:31

Morning:
Naproxen
Solifenacin
One for my stomach because of the naproxen but can't remember the name
Propranolol
Anti histamine
Steroid nose spray
Evening:
Naproxen
Stomach one
Hydroxychloroquine
Magnesium

lljkk · 07/02/2022 19:45

The NHS advises that ppl consider taking vit D, not that they should take vit D.

personally I reckon I'm still sporting a bit of Florida tan.

I don't take any tablets daily... maybe the odd painkiller for headaches

NAME3CHANGE · 07/02/2022 19:48

Actually i have just started taking vitamins in the last month , in a hope to make myself healthier.

I sit down with a pint of water and take 2 vitamins, antihistamine and sertraline.
So 4 .

Wafflesnsniffles · 07/02/2022 19:59

Gwenhwyfar Optibac. I dont take them all the time though - too expensive for me but I do reccomend them.

ipswichwitch · 07/02/2022 20:00

Anywhere between 3 and 13 a day, depending on how much I need my painkillers. That includes vit D, anti- inflammatory for rheumatoid arthritis, plus a fortnightly anti tnf, 10weekly vit B12 and hrt patches.

blahblahx · 07/02/2022 20:00

I take folic acid, antidepressants and iron tablets.

I also take Rennies if that's the same 😂

ipswichwitch · 07/02/2022 20:02

WRT to vitamins, it’s not always as simple as eating the right foods - some people have malabsorption problems (as I do with vit B12) and no amount of eating the right food will mean I actually retain enough of it.
