Are you in touch with school friends?

I wonder how many people are still in touch with people they knew at school. I sometimes look people up to see what they are doing, but i am not in touch with anyone now.

Are the posters who keep in touch with lots and lots of schoolfriends still living in the area they grew up in and went to school?

I’m still best friends with my 2 best friends from secondary school. We didn’t stay in our hometown, one is 2 hours drive from me and the other 3. I also have two friends from primary school, they do still live in our hometown but I’m not there anymore.

I moved 450 miles away from my home area and have only been back once in the last 40 years - that was for a school reunion. I exchange Christmas cards with two old school friends, but otherwise don’t keep in touch.

Yes, quite a few. I grew up and still live in London so lots of us still in tube/bus distance but I keep in touch with others further away.
DH also grew up in London and has know his best friend since they were 3 (62 now)

Just one. I hated school, and have lived mostly outside my home country for the best part of three decades, whereas she was kept in our home town by a messy situation, but I saw her whenever I visited my parents.

My main feeling if I recognise someone from school when I’m back is mild horror.
