Wow, that sounds a palaver @73kittycat73 fingers crossed you get sorted.

@BorderlineHappy hope you’re feeling in a better place just now xx

@WreckTangled hope you’re doing ok!

Very busy week for me this week! The sun still shines and playtimes are glorious! I’ve had a massage today. Since having Covid, the shoulder blade on my bad arm (which is generally much improved) has been playing up so I’ve had a sports/remedial massage twice now and I can really feel the benefit! Long May the sunshine continue!!

73kittycat73 · 23/03/2022 21:02

Ooh, I'd love a massage. Glad you find it helps. Is it that proper robe off laying on your front type of massage?
I did finally get to speak to a Dr today. He was very keen to prescribe me some HRT. I was shocked how easy it was! lol Just told me I could take oestrogen only and he'd send me some literature about it and it's up to me to decide if I'll take it. I Googled oestrogen and weight loss (Really avoided trying 'and weight gain.' lol) and was reading that oestrogen speeds up your metabolism and that there's less belly fat on woman that take it. I don't know if it's patches or pills? Suppose I'll find out soon enough.
I've had a couple of nice walks round the estate Monday and Tuesday (Couldn't go today as Dr calling.) and I was really good with not getting stressed. I spoke to my brother earlier and have decided that this year I'd like to try and make it to his house. Mainly because he has a pool. Grin Seriously, for barbques and stuff too. Little bit scared, I'm going to try and do it without taking diazerpam. I want to do it though.

From what I know about menopausal weight gain it's mostly behavioural. Because when you're tired and not sleeping and feeling low in mood etc etc you a) have less motivation and b) want to eat more. With HRT these symptoms should lessen and therefore make losing weight easier/gaining weight less likely. Also when you go through the menopause any additional stored energy (fat) is most likely to go to your stomach than any other place which is where the whole middle aged spread thing comes from I guess.

Yup about fat stored in the middle, I look like humpty dumpty! lol Hopefully the HRT will help with the sleeping then. I can't get it till next Wednesday (Chemist usually delivers but their driver is off with Covid so have to wait for my mum to pic it up for me when she goes next Wednesday.).
How are you doing? Back into low carbing? I hope it's going well for you. Smile
Went for another walk today, went down a road I've only been down once before in years, and that was on Diazepam. Got quite panicky but managed to talk myself round, then went up a road I haven't been on in decades! I've been enjoying the walks but sadly the weather is going back to being cold next week. Sad I'll just have to wrap up I suppose.

WreckTangled · 24/03/2022 20:42

Yes it doesn't look so good next week does it? The weather makes such a difference.

I'm ok, my levels are all over the place (still low carb) but ds has Covid again so I'm wondering if I might be brewing it. Negative lft but I have a runny nose.

73kittycat73 · 25/03/2022 19:57

Ooh, I hope you don't have it. There was a nasty cold doing the rounds a while back too. I understand illness can make your BS go up? I really hope you are OK.
I agree about the weather. I'm usually someone that loves winter, will tolerate summer but I was actually really enjoying the warmer weather! Helps with keeping the gas and electric bill lower too doesn't it?
Hope you are OK BorderlineHappy?
How's your weekend going PaperMonster?

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 25/03/2022 19:59

My levels were really high when I had it before so not sure if I do have it. Such a pain though.

PaperMonster · 25/03/2022 20:52

Fingers crossed that you don’t have the Covid @WreckTangled. I’ve tested this week as I have a cough that makes my chest feel tight but it’s negative.

You are doing so well @73kittycat73 with your walks, well done and going to your brother’s sounds like a great goal!

Weekend’s going ok thanks. OH and daughter both out so enjoying an evening to myself! The massage was a sports-type massage so I was really pummelled! Not relaxing in the slightest! But therapeutic for my arm!! And yes, proper robe off lying on both back and front!

73kittycat73 · 27/03/2022 19:43

Hi WreckTangled, how are you feeling now? I hope you are still negative?
I hope all you mothers had a lovely day today? I got my mum a mug with Dr Now on (Dr Nowzarden from My 600lb Life.) saying, 'You have one munt to lose turdy pound.' lol Both my brothers came round, and nieces so had lovely time seeing them.
How's your cough and chest now PaperMonster?
Thanks for the encouragement. Smile
Did you enjoy your evening to yourself? I hope so. Smile
Glad the massage worked, sorry it was so brutal! lol

WreckTangled · 28/03/2022 06:13

I'm good thanks and still negative. Ds had his first negative yesterday so hopefully can go back to school today.

Dd made me a cake yesterday so I had to eat some. It was nice but I really didn't want it as I've been so good! It made my levels really high over night.

73kittycat73 · 28/03/2022 12:07

Good that you are still OK. Smile Aww, about the cake. I had cake yesterday too. Only 1 cup cake. It's my brothers birthday on Tuesday and he'll be working then so we gave him his cake and cards yesterday. Sorry it messed with your level so bad. How are you today?
Going to sort the shed out in a bit. Mum wants her smaller mobility scooter out. It's right at the back! doh, lol. I'm sure it will be fine once I get started.
Weighed in today. Originally I stepped on and it said I'd lost one pound. Move the scales over a bit to a flatter piece of floor and it said I'd lost 2lb, so I'm going with that. Grin
I really hope you are ok @BorderlineHappy ?

BorderlineHappy · 29/03/2022 16:20

Im very well @73kittycat73 just recovering from Mothers Day 😂

73kittycat73 · 30/03/2022 20:09

Glad to hear you are OK. Smile
WreckTangled, sorry, I keep meaning to let you know about the cereal then forgetting to write it! The cereal dry tastes really chocolaty. However, I have it with Alpro Soya milk and find there's not much taste to the cereal in this. I try and have as little as possible and you can taste it a bit better. It has a lovely crunch right down to the last bit. It is a good substitute. I would buy them again, maybe try the mixed pack next.

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 31/03/2022 07:08

Oh thanks! I don't like milk so have my cereal dry anyway. Might treat myself somewhen...

PaperMonster · 31/03/2022 22:27

Did I tell you I’d been in some Diabetes research the other day? I had an interview about mental health and Diabetes. It was quite interesting.

WreckTangled · 01/04/2022 06:21

No you didn't! Apparently people with diabetes are five (or something) times for likely to suffer poor mental health. That's a depressing fact in itself Grin

BorderlineHappy · 01/04/2022 11:48

Morning everyone.
@PaperMonster that sounds really interesting.
@73kittycat73 I'm not surprised at that figure.
It can be so depressing sometimes

I have a Dr appointment on Monday.
Some blood results.
I think I'm going to ask her about some counseling.
And ask for some help with the alcohol.
I'm really in a bad place and I need to have a chat with someone.
I'm finding it hard to get motivated and I'm eating so much crap.

On a lighter note,I have a humongous piece of roast beef in the oven.
Smells gorgeous and I'm starving.
Hurry up and cook.

73kittycat73 · 01/04/2022 19:09

I don't like cow's milk WreckTangled, that's why I have soya. I have ordered the frosted cereal today so I'll let you know about that one too.
Ooh, sounds interesting PaperMonster How's your arm doing these days? Did the massage help at all in the end?
Hi BorderlineHappy, sorry to hear you are struggling. I think it's a good idea to open up to the Dr. I hope she can help. Good luck with your test results. I hope you enjoyed your roast beef!

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 01/04/2022 19:19

Borderline in my area you can self refer to talking therapy. There's a lot of funding for it at the moment so I hope they can help, sorry to hear you're struggling

PaperMonster · 01/04/2022 20:13

@WreckTangled yes, the researcher gave a figure like that. She’s speaking to two hundred people both Type 1 and 2. I’m this ridiculously upbeat kind of person so will probably skew the results a bit! But she did say that those who tried to take control seem to fare better with their mental health.

@73kittycat73 my arm is much improved thank you. Funnily enough last evening I had a big surge of pain in it but the massage has helped - am going for another next week.

@BorderlineHappy love a nice piece of roast beef - as does my daughter! Hope you enjoyed it! I put a chicken in the slow cooker today, smelled heavenly when I got in! And tasted lovely!

73kittycat73 · 04/04/2022 13:25

Good luck at the Drs today BorderlineHappy. I hope it goes well for you. Smile

Glad you arm feels better PaperMonster. Smile I don't envy your massage next week though! Mind you, if it makes you feel better, I'm sure you don't mind?

Did everybody have a good weekend? I didn't do much.
How's you WreckTangled

I'm pretty chuffed. Lost 3lb this week. Grin The exercise must be helping! This is the most I've lost in a week since about week three! So chuffed I've done all my exercises for today already. lol

PaperMonster · 04/04/2022 19:54

Well done @73kittycat73. Lovely weekend here thanks, with some beautiful weather on Saturday- although very cold! Easter hols here now, so no school work for a couple of weeks although I’ve got my other work still this week. Could do with some sunshine again though!!

73kittycat73 · 04/04/2022 20:27

Thanks. Smile We just had wind and rain all weekend. Where's all that lovely warm weather gone? It's supposed to get really cold again this weekend too.
Hope you enjoy your Easter break. (Just Googled how to do the bunny emoji with the smilies on here, no luck, sorry, no bunny!) Does your other job take up a lot of time?
Do you have all your eggs in? I had a snackcinent a few weeks ago with an egg I bought for my brother, lol. It has been replaced now. Grin

OP posts:
WreckTangled · 05/04/2022 06:05

We don't break up until Friday! I've spotted some lower carb eggs I want Grin

Great weight loss 73kitty

BorderlineHappy · 05/04/2022 13:26

@73kittycat73 great news on your loss.
@PaperMonster glad your arm feels better.
It's freezing here too.

Dr went well she wants to do more bloods and rule out vitamin deficiency.
She says it so easy to blame diabetes on everything.

So we'll talk again when she has the results.
